[LDD Scene] Keelhauled! Warning: Contains floating bricks!

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

after some not so great time, intense dead-end building, lack of ideas, and countless days of rendering nonsense images, here's a little by-product scene that I thought was worth posting. It's not much - sorry - but I desperately wanted to post something again.

So here goes, just for fun, no pun(ishment) intended :D

keelhauled.jpg

(Klick for HR)

What does it show? Well, not much, just and underwater scene with this guy getting keelhauled. Why? No idea, maybe just 'cause it had to be done? Do we know more? Not really, it's all merely speculation, maybe the poor soul just had it coming...

Anyway, seems he's still having an interesting time, after all, when do you get to see a mermaid just that easily? Or is she simply a trick of his mind due to a lack of oxygen?

Sorry for this not being a real MOC, but I'm experimenting a bit with single image sceneries at the moment. Sorry 2 for the water surface not being transparent. I did render one image with transparent pieces - it took three and a half days to finish - only to realise the lighting was wrong and I forgot some things :pir_wacko:

Just realising, two of these small round plates are not placed correctly... just consider them as more 'floating' bricks.

Hope you enjoy this a little, anyway.

Best regards,

KB

Aha! You're back... which means I face some stiff competition, considering the fact that my posting habits were modeled loosely after yours...

Anyway, this is an interesting topic, and the overall design is quite good, although I would have tiled the ship and used jumper plates to attach the barnacles. The fish look great and the mermaid... well, perhaps he was hitting the bottle before this scene happened. I've thought about building a keelhauling depiction myself but just haven't gotten to it. Good work, even if you only showed us part of the ship for once!

The long lost sailor Kolonialbeamter returns with a charming underwater scene - fascinating to see what can be done with LDD and decent rendering.

Why am I being keelhauled?!? :distressed:

I do have to say that I have very nice abs, which explains why I'm attracting a mermaid.

For future reference, my physic more closely resembles 973pb0789c01.gif:pir-wink:

Nice idea for a MOC(?), and welcome back!

That's you, Phred? *peers closely* By jove, it is! What is this, some kind of mutiny? Were you bumping too many old posts at the pier? But is it the Evil Captain Phred, or The Amazing Mr. Phredit, or the Phreditor-in-Chief? If it's the latter, I'm in trouble! Help me haul him up, boys!

Physic, physique, what's the difference? And I quote: "Knot evrie-won haz greight spellin skilz." Yep.

EDIT: Considering the fact that KB, CB, and Phred are all Pirates staff, I suspect if I don't get out of here they're all going to gang up and keelhaul ME.

Muhaha, I wonder when they'll realise we are actually one and the same person in real life... multi-personality-awesomeness!

Fascinating to see what can be done with LDD and decent rendering.

Thanks, Capt'n. Yeah, atm I find it especially fun to play with light settings.

Haha, just the long overdue answer to 'ridiculous threats'. But don't worry, only the best for the Phredinator, the barnacles are in fact sponges to pleasantly massage your back, a lot of rum is waiting for you on the other side... of the ship, and there's a lot more mermaids where that one came from :pir-wink:

This is entertaining! Good job.

Haha, thanks, that's what we're here for.

Oh, and Captain Dee needs a sigfig!

Interesting. I learned a new word and Phred's body type. I'll have to give keelhauling a try. :classic:

Hi, Kolonialbeamter. You seem to know much about naval history, its brute side, too. I quite understand your mood and I feel sorry for that poor guy. It was clever of you to send a mermaid there. She will surely save him!. I came across the MOC only now and it reminded me of one of my poems (a few books of my poetry have been published since 1993) about pirates. Sometimes I illustrate them with LEGO MOCs. If you or your mermaid know Russian, I can let you read the poem.

Will you try to use it at the Pillage the Village Contest?

TMI! :pir-grin:

Yeah, you should! And I think we both know a long-eared, annoying candidate.

Nah, keelhauling is so early August. For PtV Sharknado is on!

Unfortunately, I don't really understand Russian, so your poetry would be wasted on a language dilettante like me. But maybe you could try to make a decent translation to English, and build a MOC around it, then present it as PtV entry.

Good luck!

Phred is probably more interested in that delicious yellow fish - he looks at it with the greatest of passion! pir_laugh2.gif

Aye, it is Luther from "Freddi Fish" of 1994! Although he was green.

I am sure that if you don't going to show us this giant beauty, whose hull has been used for unmercifully keelhauling... You will be definitely keelhauled under the spiked hull of Troglodyte, so beware! :D

'Somehow' you're the first to notice there's more to this MOC than meets the eye... your (blind) secret agent is doing a good job, what about a promotion for him/her.
