ZCerberus Posted July 2, 2016 OrionBlu’s requirements for the new defense craft were easy to quantify, but difficult to deliver. The craft needed to be faster, better armed, and effective against Blacktron interceptors in both open space and planetary arenas. After many design prototypes were rejected, OrionBlu settled on a main combat fighter using a combination of high thrust Cerberus “Z” prototype racing engines modified for open space applications and directional rapid vertical take-off and landing (RVTOL) engines for optimum planetary maneuverability. The weapons system consisted of plasma based disruptors and burst “torpedoes” and an ultra-high speed rail gun. The LL 951 “Blue Jacket” proved so effective against Blacktron interceptors even pilots with limited flight experience could out maneuver all but the best Blacktron aces. Blue Jackets also proved superior to Blackton’s answer to the Blue Jacket, the Blacktron “Sonic Star”. The Sonic Star slowed the rate of pilot loss greatly, but did little to help Blacktron regain air superiority. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
