HMS Renown

I present to you my latest ship, the brig Renown.

I wanted to make a ship in the colours of the original Imperial Flagship, as it had been awhile since I had done so.

She carries 28 guns, 16 on the gundeck, and another 8 up top, plus 2 bow chasers, and two stern chasers

I actually did a bit of editing on the photos. I normally just take em and post em.

I am very pleased with how the stern turned out.

I used the Captain Green Hair frigate tutorial for a lot of help, especially at the bow.

And last, a shot of the Renown with the Imperial Flagship.

That is a very beautiful ship you made there! I like how you used the sails from the original imperial flagship! The back of the ship is beautiful for sure with all those windows. I'm not entirely sold on the blue and white for the British. I think a white hull with red gun hatches would have looked better but hey its not my ship. Overall though I really like the look of the thing!

Good job!

Also is that the cat minifigure series figure as a figure head?? That is fantastic use of it and a tongue twister isn't it. Haha

Fantastic Brig you have there! Great use of CGHs technique! I think this is the first time I'm seeing this elaborate rigging combined with the original rigging pieces, its a good idea well executed!

Those anchors look interesting, could you provide a picture of them?

I would have glowing reviews of this ship, but there is one glaring deficiency that completely ruins it for me.

It's a redcoat ship.

It's a fantastic redcoats ship. A good idea to put together the original small ship with its flags-sails and the new larger one. I hoped LEGO would issue such flag-sails for bluecoats in 2015 but this time there was no ship at all for them.

I love this ship, for me it has the perfect mix of classic pirate style and historical accuracy! It fits in with the imperial flagship really well, How did you get the pattern onto the sails?

Thanks for the replies!

Azog, no, I won't give it red cannon flaps. It has blue to match the Imperial Flagship set. It is not the cat minifigure, it is that gold warrior dude form series 15.

I will try and get a picture up soon of the anchors.

Cousarmy0001, Nothing I can do about that, but my next ship I plan on building is for the blue Coats.

Franco Clarke, I bought cloth from Walmart, cut a couple pieces to paper sized, and stuck them in the printer, then cut out the pattern and glued it to the sail.

The vintage feel and sails really do give it an appeal. To me it feels like the flagship that Lego did never make back in the original, classic pirate days. Would be nice to compare to the comparatively smaller pirate ship maybe (which should really have been a sloop). Nice work!

I own the old Imperial ship, but its been a while since I assembled it. A bit shocking to see it looks so tiny compared to your brig.

A very impressive ship! It has a very clean look to it and strongly reminds me of some of the older ships from the early days of the Class Pirates lineup.

Thanks for sharing thispirate_classic.gif
