Ludzik Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) For whatever reason I wasn't too happy with my previous police station and it kept bugging me to the point that I ended up rebuilding it. Here's the result of the 90% (and I think that it will always be 90% as I keep changing things) completed one http://i41.tinypic.com/118nonm.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/180xuf.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/20gf76e.jpg Looking inside we have the required cell with a bunk bed, booking area (needs more work), "cage", reception area with the desk sgt (of course nearby a coffee pot and a water bottle and a restroom in the back. http://i43.tinypic.com/346l254.jpg Here's a closer look at the cage and the restroom (I know there is no toilet seats... but well... I"m short on parts :) ) http://i39.tinypic.com/642rv5.jpg The reception area is fairly simple http://i41.tinypic.com/2hyjtwh.jpg The cell has the bunk beds with a toilet and a sink http://i43.tinypic.com/2yxgpz7.jpg When we get to the next level things get a little bit bare.... There is a shower and a restroom with a small office spot. I'm thinking about fitting a small workout bench in the nook next to the stairs and a locker next to the door. Also I need to put a ladder in the "door area" so that the roof hatch can be accessed. http://i40.tinypic.com/f290g2.jpg Lt, out in front of the station http://i39.tinypic.com/s41655.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/wuhs8j.jpg So here's some dislikes that I have regarding the current build...... building s mostly white... but that's because I have lots of white bricks... so I think it will stay that way. I'm thinking about changing the bottom "base" from blue to black or dark gray. The transition between the floors is light gray because the wide gutters that I have are gray, plus I got plenty of the smooth light gray bricks. I'm thinking about changing the the base layer on the second floor to black or dark gray as well (to match the ground floor). I'm not too keen on how bare the roof is but I have no concept for how to build a rooftop HVAC and the like. I wish I had more parking up front (real stations have a huge parking lot more often then not for both the marked and unmarked units as well as for employee parking) but then if I got to the point I want it to be I think I'd be taking up too much real estate in the city. Ricecracker Posted April 6, 2012 Hi there. Welcome to Eurobricks! You've got a great start to your police station, and I'm excited to see how it progresses over time. However, your photos are much to large, so I've changed them to links for now. Please read the Site Guidelines again and resize your photos so that others can enjoy your work too. Thanks. -Ricecracker
Miller Posted April 6, 2012 Nice build! Don't worry about the toilet seat, criminals don't deserve them

lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2012 Not bad modular police station 'Ludzik', though no interview room, no office space for desks and computers for officers to write up their reports ? Still it looks nice, keep up the good work 'Ludzik'.....and Brick On !

Still it looks nice, keep up the good work 'Ludzik'.....and Brick On ! I know..... I have been toying with an idea to push out the jail portion so that the building is more U shaped than L shaped and then place a small interview room in the spot where the toilet is now..... Office space.. maybe that's what I'll place upstairs instead of a small gym space? hmmmm
Vindicare Posted April 7, 2012 That's a good looking police station. The inside is nice and would be perfect for that small town office. Take the show, "Once Upon A Time" threes 2 cells and a desk in the one room building. I think you have the inside mapped out well. We all know that our beloved LEGO buildings never have the necessary rooms. Good job.

We all know that our beloved LEGO buildings never have the necessary rooms. Good job. I don't easily givup :) So since the challenge to the layout was thrown, here's an update :) I pulled out the cell area forward and moved the prisoners to the tip of the "U". Looking with the roof open, you can see in the lower left (which is the former toilet area) interview room (it's not furnished yet as the working crew just left and the paint is still drying). The cells are accessed through a short hallway. On "issue" that I have is the roof.... The area above the cell is so "bare". I'm considering raising the helo pad and moving it so that it overhangs the parking area a bit BUT that leaves a HUGE open roof area where it used to be... which also bugs me.... so I'm kinda stuck... Any suggestions? Oh yeah, here's my HVAC segment that goes over the main part of the building.
lightningtiger Posted April 7, 2012 That's starting to look a whole lot better and even a mug-shot area.....Brick On 'Ludzik'.
Ludzik Posted April 7, 2012 So here's another revision.... I moved the helipad forward and raised it up a bit. I'm not happy with the tan plates I used to stiffen it up below.... might have to change them out for light gray. and top view... as you can see it's a post apocalyptic world ;)
lightningtiger Posted April 7, 2012 I agree about the tan plates, but I do like the beefed up heli-pad....keep going 'Ludzik' and Brick On !
eurotrash Posted April 9, 2012 Nice build! Don't worry about the toilet seat, So, why aren't the Police in this town capable of solving any crimes? ...because they've got nothing to go on. /rim-shot...Thank you. I'll get my coat/
