EQUALITY. JUSTICE. REVOLUTION.

Fallen leaves of autumn swirled on top of the sewage as Kukulkan, the head of the Orcish Liberation Movement, made his way through the sewers under Eubric Freeport. He followed illuminated engravings on the wall that only appeared to those who had been granted access to the Wolf’s Den, the secret hideout of the notorious Wolfgang. Once he got there, Kukulkan was greeted by Ulric Wolfkin himself. The orc had made an agreement to join the Wolf King's Followers.

heroicawoe-wolfsden2.jpg

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“I have to say I was pleased when you contacted me, Kukulkan. I have been trying to get the greenskins on my side for a long time now.”

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
“I have had my reservations towards you and your organization, but with the situation of my kind being what it is, the Wolfgang is our best bet. The Wolfgang is not what it used to be – especially now that the witch is gone.”

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“Ah, yes. Dear Barbie left us not long ago. I’m not surprised you knew about it, given your companionship with the Oracle. We got into a little quarrel over ethics with Barbie, and she flew off to ruin some other civilization. I admit it was stupid of me to think I could benefit from her.”

heroicaquest100-walbartan.jpg
“The witch was nothing but trouble, boss. I learned as much during the mission in Babeleth.”

heroicaquest100-hodurrthornback.jpg
“Yarr, good RIDDANCE to HER!”

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“Kukulkan, I’d like you to meet Walbartan and Hodurr Thornback. They’ve proven to be loyal followers, so I have appointed them as new Wolfgang Generals. I have weeded out most of the thieves and murderers from my followers, including the old generals, so that my final goal would not be corrupted.”

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
“Your final goal is becoming the First King of Uland, isn’t that right?”

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“No, in fact my final goal is to install law and order to this place. You know the history this island bears. It is crucial to the future of Olegaia and all the people that live on it. It must be cherished and protected, something the old Houses are inept to do.”

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
“I’d like to hear what makes you think you are any more capable.”

heroicaquest100-hodurrthornback.jpg
“HA! He’s got some BALLS, that one!”

heroicaquest100-walbartan.jpg
"I would watch my words if I were you, orc!"

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“I appreciate your honesty, Kukulkan. Like you have your calling to save your people, I have mine. I may come from a foreign country, but I was lead here by a higher power to do good – just like you.”

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
“I was shipped here by a bunch of slave traders, but I get your point. And I’m willing to give you the benefit of a doubt. You have the orcs. Better not let us down, or we will show you the wrath of Tarok.”

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“I will not. I now have two out of the six Veterans of Heroica on my side, so I trust it will make it easier for me to get in contact with the mighty heroes you have gathered under the roof of your Hall, right?”

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
“I suppose so. The Houses will be pissed off, of course, but with their division to Crescent Union and Sungold Alliance, they will desperately try to get heroes on their side as well. War is inevitable, and Heroica will be divided due to it as well, but nothing lasts forever. At least we orcs do not mind war.”

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
“That is exactly why I wanted you on my side so much, Feathered Serpent.”

That day Ulric’s reach over both Eubric and Heroica grew greatly, and thus choice members of Heroica were sent letters of invitation into the Wolf King’s Followers.

Kiray's letter was hastily scribbled and sent as fast as possible, far from Eubric, but it arrived to the den. She writes:

We need to fix Eubric. Some of the most honest people I've met are Wolfgang. I remember a quest I was on with Diana, and you could tell how much she wanted to do right in the world and how she believed that Wolfgang was the way. My party leader Actaeon also got along well with her, and we all stood together. I am willing to do my part and help align Eubric into a place where justice will prevail, and that it can spread to all of Olegia. I pledge myself to the Wolfgang and Ulric. I will do what is necessary and hopefully gather more followers to this noble cause.

Signed,

Kiray Nastayo.

Kiray joins the Wolfgang and is currently ranked an Esquire.

A letter in reply to the Wolf King's Followers' invitation makes its way to the Den.

  • Greetings,
It seems Eubric Freeport is presented with a conflict between choosing to side with those trying to better the city at the risk of destroying it or giving up and accepting the current stability under morally flexible rule. Many a great civilization was built upon dubious and often treacherous acts. An offered payment here or there to ignore or support actions that otherwise would not or should not occur. Great monuments, everyday structures and services provided by the arduous and unending efforts of thousands forced to work against their will for little or more often no compensation. Taking the lives of people who would interfere with the overall scheme. Bribery, slavery, prostitution, murder etc. Horrible atrocities that provide the necessary capital to birth grandiose things. The bad is usually forgotten by history after these things are abolished or at least deemed so highly offensive by the majority that they are no longer acceptable practices. The ruling houses believe the city functions smoothly and seek to keep life how it is. This includes how life in the Hovels is. Your organization is the only one to make strides towards
improving things for everyone and eliminating the bad. Most of Heroica's heroes believe that following the would-be Wolf King is not the right thing for Eubric's citizens to do. I say

Skrall pulled out a pen, painstakingly tracing the letters just as Poletad had showed him. He sighed as he sealed the letter, covering it in bee's wax before dropping it down a sewer grate, he had cast his lot with the Wolfgang.

Hello,

Having lived in Eubric Freeport for quite a few years now, I now understand the depth of this city's cruelty. On the outside it wears a mask of freedom, of tolerance, of opposition opportunity, but it only serves to poorly hide the rottenness and decay it is truly suffering from. I understand you have commended commanded the respect of the Orcish Liberation Movement, I trust Kukulkan and he has had my backing since I landed on this rock. Where he goes, I go, you are his hope and thus you are mine, betray him and you betray me. You may count upon me when your time has come.

Regards,

Skrall, Esquire of the Wolfgang

A letter finds its way through the levels of Wolfgangers to Ulric Wolfkin, it reads:

It was a pleasure meeting you, Ulric. I am most pleased that we were able to work out that horrid situation with you know who. I am a man of my word. I told you I would stand by you if you would rid yourself of her, and you did so. Consider me a Knight of your Faction.

A letter magically appears and hovers in front of the Wolf's Den, attracting the attention of several prominent members of the Wolfgang to retrieve and open the letter.

Greetings,

Times have truly changed. As is the minds of humans, elves and dwarves alike. Word has it that many in my organisation, Heroica, has sided with various alliances and unions. Having lived in Eubric for a couple of centuries or so, and I find it incredibly difficult to see Eubric divide and fall. Though I have not met the leaders of the different houses, meeting with like-minded people who are aligned with them is sufficient to paint a picture of that they stand for and believe in. Having considered all options, I have come to a decision. I believe that the Sungold Alliance and Crescent Union are too unstable to govern Eubric, for they do not have willing and capable candidates who are willing to step up to the occasion themselves, leaving power hungry Heroes to run rampant. Although I hope to maintain relations with the Shadeaux family and become a Dragoon one day, joining Crescent Union is basically an end in the making. Too much self and too little others. As for the Wolfgang, Ulric seems to have the most connections and influence in Eubric, both on the surface and under and I have met many honourable members of the gang. I believe that the Wolf is the right way forward.

I seek stability. Not choosing a side means having a hand in Eubric's eventual destruction. I have to do something and your majesty can count on Purpearl Berthadhiell when the time comes.

En Sabah Nur ran his finger along the Hovel Wall from the outside, some distance away from the entrance. He found the brick he was looking for and made the appropriate hand gestures. A portion of the wall morphed into a stone version of a wolf's head with mouth agape. Nur deposited 500 gold into the mouth. It promptly closed then immediately reopened. The coin was gone and a Scroll of Magic Disguise was in its place. As soon as Nur removed the scroll the mouth slammed shut once more before the magic left, returning the wall into its original appearance.

A letter in a bad condition has found it's way to the Wolf kings den. It seems as the letter has been going through alot before reaching it's destination.

It reads,

Greetings,

Ulric Wolfkin, I choose now to approach you with this letter because of the new turn of events.

I haven't always felt the same way about your actions but it has come to my knowledge from one of your Esquires, Kiray Nastayo that you have tried to clean up your ranks and actually get out off the criminal business and have made an effort in trying to make a change for the city of Eubric. If that is the case I want to congratulate you because this makes you a very strong candidate of a person who is actually capable to make a difference.

The other houses can show up a noble cause but the rich, gold loving elite will never really care for the poor and the opressed ones. I know this of own experience, I was of noble blood, Highland heritage but that didn't stop the Royals from starting a war with us. In their eyes we were nothing more than wildings and our lands were to be taken.

I believe you can and you will make a change in Eubric and you and and your followers can spread the good and unite Eubric and then continue with Uland.

That is why I Keelron Roolensaar will join your cause and express my loyalty to you.

Keliim joins Wolfkings followers as a esquire.

SECOND FACTION EVENT - FOLLOWING THROUGH

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
"We have ourselves a new follower. We will need all the strength we can get, for now it is time to keep true to our promise to free Eubric from its shackles."

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
"It's about time. The longer we sit here and debate the longer the orcs and others suffer."

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
"Patience, Kukulkan, our plans will soon take form. In all their squabbling the houses have forgotten about this city's heart and lungs - the people. We have already won the support of many of the poor folk in this city, and it is time to repay the favor and continue to spread our influence. Change will not happen through me, but through these citizens."

Proposition One: The Hovels

heroicaquest100-hodurrthornback.jpg
Option 1: Breaking Down the Wall
"It is RIDICULOUS that the high-and-MIGHTY 'elites' of this city are keeping people OUT. The poor can not BE swept under the RUG and forgotten about. We must RALLY the poor folk of the HOVELS to break the WALL down and give them EQUAL opportunity to work in the CITY among everyone else. If they CANNOT be contained, they must be RECOGNIZED and we will rally even MORE people to our cause."

heroicaquest100-walbartan.jpg
Option 2: Give to the Poor
"We must choose our next move carefully. The people of the Hovels don't have any resources to start doing anything, and I know what it's like to be poor. The houses in power have gold to spare - we should mobilize our followers to infiltrate the Shadeaux and Hinckwell properties, steal their gold, and give it to the poor folk living on the streets. Of course, the two houses will blame each other and cause further division between them, while we grow stronger from increased support by those we are helping."

Second Faction Event: Propositions

  • Each hero within the Wolf King's Followers can vote for one of the options on each proposition (there are more coming).  Whichever proposition gets the most votes by the end of the voting period will become the Wolf King's official stance.
  • Each proposition comes with a hidden stats boost related to the proposition itself.  Once it is enacted, all members of the Wolf King's Followers will be able to equip that boost if they so please.  They will be rewarded a Wolf Medallion, which will not take up any artifact spot.  This Medallion will continue to improve as more propositions are put into place.
  • Quests for the Wolf King's Followers will reflect the propositions that are being voted on.

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg
"You must realize the risk of getting caught stealing. The Shadeaux and Hinckwells will be quick to figure out neither of their aligned heroes were doing the robbery if our agents are caught in the act. Besides, the people in the Hovels have suffered long enough."

heroicanpc-ulricwolfkin.jpg
"If they are caught. I believe only the most skilled heroes have earned my reputation. And I would argue that breaking down the wall that was just built several years ago is much more of an open statement. Both options have their benefits and downfalls."

Voting Ends Jan. 14th 12 AM EST (midnight of the 14th... however that is best denoted).

I grimace as I look over the proposals.
And I thought I'd be able to make a change here. Those who are criminals once will always be that way, it appears.
I sigh.
"This will take some thought."

Skrall strides into the Wolf's Den taking in the surroundings of the rebellions base of operations. As the propositions begin to come forth, the ogre takes his place behind Kukulkan, "Kukulkan is right, if we have gone to the trouble of clearing those murderers and miscreants from among our midst, then we must not resort to their old ways. We are more than thieves, more than rabble-rousers, we are the beginning of a movement for a free Eubric. The Houses' money touches many other individuals and businesses, some of which are barely making more than the poor in the hovels, punishing them for the houses greed would simply splinter this city more. We must break down the barriers around the poor and unfortunate of this city, we must not allow these heights of stone and wood to mask the sickness of this city. We must bring down his wall." Skrall looks around waiting for more comment.

"While I agree with you that there resorting to thievery and stealing would be contrary to the goals of our organization. I can't really see that destroying the wall would accomplish a whole lot. The hovels have existed before the wall was built and likely will go on existing. All the same, destroying the wall would certainly be the preferred action.

"This is certainly a decision we cannot take lightly. There's a lot to fix, and Pretzel is correct, the hovels have always been here. It's going to take more than destroying a wall to fix that. It's also going to take more than stealing. Do we not have a third option of both? In leiu of the third option of both, I vote for the first, to destroy the wall. With creating even a small hole in the wall, we can easily funnel people and items through until we create a larger one and eventually tear it down. If we have to, along the way we can steal from the Houses if the opportunity arises. Looking at my fellow heroes among us, it seems we are more of the sort ready to bash something down than sneak in."

A man dressed in black clothes and bright armor, enter the den, sneaks and remains in the shadows as the others speak. He listens to what they have to say. And when they finish he steps out of the dark, he says,

  32432302661_624c102cdb_t.jpg

"The people o' th' Hovel have been among us f'r a long time, before th't Wall. 'nd they will be among us for a long long time. Th't Wall has not brought any good with it, just more unfairness! Th' people o' th' Freeport has suffer'd enough! Th' wee people o' th' Free isls have suffer'd enough. When will it end...

I say first. Bring th' disgrace thing down. 'nd let th' Houses see th' "embarrassement", Th' thing what they have shut th'ir eyes f'r."

"Are you all so quick to throw out the principles that laid out the foundation for all of this when infiltration and detection avoidance have always been this organization's greatest and most valuable of skills? Why cast aside that which has consistently worked so well for us in the past? The Shadeaux and Hinckwells will not suspect our involvement; even aided by the mighty Ziegfrieds, they won't see us coming. Besides..." Nur's appearance began to change.

heroicanpc-heinrichhinckwell.jpg

"Can it really be considered stealing if the heads of each House-" Nur activated the Scroll of Magic Disguise again.

"-are the ones to hand over their riches freely." Standing in favor of Option 2 with each outstretched hand holding an impossibly large coffer overflowing with gold and gems, En Sabah Nur grinned.

Infiltration and going undetected are useful skills 'nd I bet we will need th'm when we art goin' through with th's but if we want tae reach out tae other o' th's city's citizens we need tae stop th' criminal activity.
