Stainboy Posted July 29, 2008 (edited) Hey guys! I've been a member here for a couple of years, but I also haven't posted in a couple of years... Anyway, I decided to try my hand at some decals based off of Heath Ledger's incarnation of the Joker from The Dark Knight. What do you think? I'm going to make some more decals so his trenchcoat can continue onto his legs. Comments? Suggestions? Go easy on me, I haven't done this in a few years! Batbrick Posted July 29, 2008 Absolutely perfect! They really have that "Lego" feel a lot of decals lack. I think you should try and include a chain print from the coat down to the legs though, that would be great. Thanks for sharing! Batbrick Away!
Stainboy Posted July 29, 2008 Thanks! Here it is with the coat continued to his legs, as well as him in just his vest: Do you think the second one should be applied to a green torso and have the vest be clear, or a sand blue torso and have the shirt be clear? And I'm assuming you mean the chain for his pocket watch?
Shoc Posted July 29, 2008 Hey guys! I've been a member here for a couple of years, but I also haven't posted in a couple of years... Nearly a triple of years, actually! I love your decals, I haven't yet seen The Dark Knight but I see these are great for the Joker in it! They're a little bit pixely, but otherwise perfect! :skull:
Stainboy Posted July 29, 2008 Any suggestions for fixing the pixellatiousness? Also, I've been experimenting with different techniques forthe makeup around his eyes. Which do you guys think looks best?
jifel Posted July 29, 2008 (edited) nice! isaw the movie when it came out, and loved it. i was considering painting a head, but i think ill do decals instead on the faces, you may want to have him smiling a bit. "And here we go!" jifel Edited July 29, 2008 by jifel
Shoc Posted July 29, 2008 (edited) Any suggestions for fixing the pixellatiousness? Well, it depends what software you're using. If you're using Photoshop or something you could use a blur tool around the edges, that might work. The pixellation might not show up once it's printed anyway, as it is small. Also, I've been experimenting with different techniques forthe makeup around his eyes. Which do you guys think looks best? I think the third set of eyes look the best. Isn't that the one you used anyway? :skull: Edited July 29, 2008 by Shoc
JimBee Posted July 29, 2008 Love them! I like the third face decal the best.
Stainboy Posted July 30, 2008 Shoc, I made these using MS Paint. Is there much I can do about it with just that? I've made a couple of new faces. First, the Joker smiling with deteriorated makeup: Second, the Joker's clown mask, which would be applied to a plain white head: I'm not too sure how well that one worked out. tin7_creations Posted July 30, 2008 these are really good. but I don't think in the movie Joker's makeup goes all around his face. so you should decrease the "white" part to just the face area, and not the whole head.
Stainboy Posted July 30, 2008 Well, the face decals only cover half of a head, and the Joker's makeup covers his ears, so I think that's about right. Thanks, though!

I didn't have anything to base it on, so I just assumed that it wrapped all the way around his head. great work anyway.
¹²³← Posted September 8, 2008 Any suggestions for fixing the pixellatiousness? Also, I've been experimenting with different techniques forthe makeup around his eyes. Which do you guys think looks best? They nearly look exactly the same when you print them out...(If some person jsut looked at them he/she would think it was the same face again and again...) Oh and the jacket/coat/whatever-it-is didn't work out very well... But Im using the first face (not any of those but the first face you posted) and the vest decals myself and they worked out! Can you make a face smiling like the official Lego Joker face? PLOX! It would be great...! ←Is that a thumb up..? Oh well!
Stainboy Posted September 11, 2008 I'd be glad to--under one condition! I wanna see pictures of the decals applied! It may be a while before I can get around to it, though. I'm pretty busy with school work.
