DraikNova Posted June 15, 2012 Since my idea for a Spyrius vs Blacktron contest was very well received, I've decided to set it up. There are three rounds: 1: Data-stealing drone 2: Infiltration Vehicle 3: Data-processing HQ The only rules the entries have to follow are: 1: Vehicles must have at least one piece of data-stealing equipment. 2: Entries must stick to the color-scheme of that theme. 3: HQ's must have equipment to process data. So, have fun!
Xand0r Posted June 15, 2012 Well, I'm in, for sure. :)
LEGOman273 Posted June 15, 2012 Sounds great. I'm in. When does round 1 start/end?

-zenn Posted June 15, 2012 I'm up for it! Any special rules; Size constrictions, neo-themes allowed etcetera?
DraikNova Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Nope, no size restrictions and it's meant for neo-theme mocs (although old-style MOCs are good too), and I guess round one will start on the 20th of June. For clarification: you can either use the original theme colorscheme or the neo colorscheme. Here are two examples of a good colorscheme: Edited June 16, 2012 by DraikNova
Blacktron Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) Here are two examples of a good fantastic!!! colorscheme: I love the color scheme and the figures -zenn used. These MOCs were a great inspiration for me. I'm in. Just for clarification, round 1 would be the data stealing drone - when should this first MOC be finished? June 20th? Xand0r Posted June 16, 2012 I am unfamiliar with how these work. How do rounds work? Do we make multiple MOCs? I just started building last night, and did a lot of work! But maybe I am doing it wrong.
DraikNova Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) Maximally two MOCs per round (one primary and one secondary) and they can be published anywhere from the 20th to the 30th of June. The primary MOC will be most important for judging and the secondary one will give extra points to make up for a lack in a specific category of the primary one. Feeling honored for using my moc's as an example. Hope I'm gonna make round one in time, just lend out my camera to my parents for their vacation.
DraikNova Posted June 16, 2012 If you need, I'll give you a few extra days, just because I want your awesome NPU's in the contest.
BasOne Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) Do we post here or in a separate topic? [RMO, S Vs. B, *unitname* entry] Edited June 16, 2012 by BasOne
Xand0r Posted June 17, 2012 Also, you mentioned categories? What are the categories you speak of?
DraikNova Posted June 17, 2012 Preferably here, and the categories are the different aspects like design, swooshability, etc.
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 18, 2012 Did you ask for any staff member's permission to run a contest on EB?
DraikNova Posted June 18, 2012 The problem is, I don't know which member of staff is in charge of Sci-Fi.
BasOne Posted June 18, 2012 The problem is, I don't know which member of staff is in charge of Sci-Fi. Look in 'LEGO Sci-Fi Launchpad' right at the bottom
DraikNova Posted June 18, 2012 Thanks BasOne! Just asked Si-Mocs!
Si-MOCs Posted June 20, 2012 Hey everyone... Apologies on not getting to this sooner - I was at brickworld and had limited connectivity. While I applaud your initiate -but now isn't the greatest time, we have the SW astro mech contest right now, and something else soon that sci-fi builders may be interested in partaking...(Hint Hint) Though if the building bug has bit you (and it happens) you can take this as a personal challenge from Draik. Cheers, Simon
Siegfried Posted June 20, 2012 The problem is, I don't know which member of staff is in charge of Sci-Fi. Does it matter? If you asked any one they would have said no... As a general rule we don't allow members to run contests. The reasons vary but in summary; Very often they are neglected. Very often the person has no idea what they are doing. We often have plans that conflict. Without staff powers it's hard to take charge. For example, how are you planing on picking the winner? You can't make a poll so it'll have to be the post counting method, and let me assure you it's a lot of work. But feel free to confine this to this topic only and you aren't allowed to offer any financial prizes or things that involve staff work, such as tags or titles. DraikNova Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) There aren't any prizes, and basically, there aren't any winners. Just a rating of the MOC, which I would give, along with anyone else who would be interested in judging. Anything above five points generally would be a pass to the next round. Sound okay? PS: Of course, if you aren't okay with this, I'll shut it down. Edited June 20, 2012 by DraikNova
