VOTING THREAD: The best LEGO sailing ships (minifig illusion scale)

Recommended Posts

gallery_822_130_92.jpg

It's time to vote and decided which are the best "minifig illusion scale" sailing ships ever build with LEGO. As explained in the nomination thread, "minifig illusion scale" means a ship that's usually build on existing LEGO hull pieces (or with a brick build hull of similar size). These ships create the 'illusion' of being minifig scale, but are usually a bit smaller.

More than 30 ships are nominated and you can divide a total of 7 point over them. We do put a limitation of maximum 4 points per ship. For each ship that you give points you must clearly indicate the number + name of the ship and the number of points you want to give to it. This will make our lives easy when counting all the votes. Happy voting!

I'd like to ask everyone to take a close look at the ships and focus on the ships and not on the picture quality. Some great ship builders are not experts in taking pictures.

Up to four votes for one ship? You're kidding, right? I had serious trouble narrowing it down to seven to vote for. All of these are incredible.

1. HMS Achilles - 1 point

2. RTS Zavala - 1 point

6. La Morte Royale - 1 point

8. HMS Prince of Wales - 1 point

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion - 1 point

11. La Snge Royale - 1 point

20. Soleil Royale - 1 point

Good luck to all of the entries. They really are all incredible in their own ways.

4 Points

10. French Navy Xebec or 16. Telesell

Mods, both Xebecs are spectacular and I'm not sure which I prefer. Bearing that in mind, please give my four points to which ever Xebec was built first. In this case originality trumps which ever refined details the later may have.

2 Points

2. RTS Zavala

I chose those two because it seems like everything else was just the same thing. Its nice to see builders do something contrary to the crowd. And yes, I know this is the pirates forum.

1 Point

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion

This gets an honorary point not only because its spectacular, but mainly because it has its own source of bacon.

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion

4 points.

I just love this ship. The colors, sails, everything has this wonderful level of detail that I admire.

17. Tornado of Souls

3 points.

This gets my vote because of the overall look of the shape, and the brick-built sails, which I feel really make this ship stand out.

There were many other brilliant ships though as well. I'm always happy when I see the level of quality we have in our MOCers. :pir-classic:

Wow, so many ships to choose from! They're all good! Here's my pick :pir-classic:

2 pts. 2. RTS Zavala

4 pts. 9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion

1 pt. 10. French Navy Xebec

These ships are really unique. First, the steam ship is wonderfully detailed.

The Nuestra Senora is very unique, and I love all of its details and shape, as well as colour.

Finally, the French Xebec is very interesting. I love the honest look it has.

My votes:

2 points to Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion by Bonaparte & Captain Green Hair. -The best m.i.s. galleon so far. And excellently coloured.

1 point to RTS Zavala by RTN LNA -very detailed and great working steam paddles.

1 point to Le Requin by CGH -One of the first good frigates on this forum.

1 point to La Mort Royale by CGH -A very fine ship. It has to be because it's more or less been copied.

1 point to HMS Prince of Wales by Bonaparte and CGH. -I think it's by far the best of its kind.

1 point to Achille by Perfectionist. -Certainly one of the best frigates out here. Very detailed and with an interior.

Let me first say - absolutetly amazing entries - all through. It was a long time since I saw a contest with such ultra high quality builds. Congrats to the organizers and the builders!

And now, without further a due, here are the votes from the Swedish admiralty:

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion - 3 points.

Something new, something different, wonderfully excuted with great proportions and superb rigging. A masterpiece.

11. Le Sang Royale - 2 points

Impossible not to award points to. The rigging, the size, the details - the list goes on. A truly fantastic build.

17. Tornado of Souls - 2 points

Great to see a ship that only uses Lego throughout, and done in such good way. This must naturally be commened.

I agree this is possibly the most difficult contest I've voted on. I normally go through the list and pick the ones I like the most, the do process of elimination... only my initial list was twice as long as I have points to give, and they were all so great it was painful to cross ones off the list to narrow it down to seven.

8. HMS Prince of Wales +1 Point

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion +1 Point

15. Vesta +1 Point

21. HMS Sabre +1 Point

25. The Maeve Aulsebrook +1 Point

26. Lion of Luebeck +1 Point

31. RTS Legomalee +1 Point

My hats off to the builders, congratulations on the excellent work!

8. HMS Prince of Wales - 3 points The color scheme and overall design really caught my eye, The sails are nice too. My all time favorite ship!

25. The Maeve Aulsebrook - 2 points I'm not sure why I like this ship so much but I just do, it got my vote

This sort of thing is always hard when all of the MOCs involved are of a very high calibur.

Still, when push comes to shove these ships stand above the rest for me:

2. RTS Zavala 1 point

9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion 2 points

10. French Navy Xebec 1 point

12. HMS Gallardia 1 point

28. Hansa Trade Cog 2 points
