THE LIBRARY AT HEROICA HALL

heroicanpc-bookmark.jpg
"Greetings! I do not know if we have met, but I am Bookmark the Dauntlet, the current head of Heroica Hall's library. My predecessor Byblos saw to it that our library was filled to the brim with copious tomes, endless encyclopedias, and vast collections of literary references from across the world. If you have any questions about our surrounding world or its history, I am more than happy to help you. For your convenience, I have gathered some basic information about the city of Eubric Freeport here, for further study you can investigate our reference Wiki, or feel free to ask a question. Go on then, quench your thirst of knowledge!"

EUBRIC, THE EVER-CHANGING CITY

The Freeport of Eubric lies on the island of Uland, which is the largest of the Free Islands. The city belongs to no nation, and thus it has grown into the trading hub of the whole world. Envoys from every country and race come there to exchange merchandise and information, and solitary adventurers seeking fame and fortune.

Despite its diplomatic status as an independent city-state, Eubric is no sanctuary of peace. In the current point of history, six influential houses fight over the rule of the Freeport, none of which has managed to gain an upper hand. Two of them are wealthy merchant families, The Shadeaux and The Hinckwells, whose rivalry reaches beyond generations. The House of Ziegfried is a family of wizards with a questionable level of sanity, while The Bonapartes hold a firm rule over the seaways surrounding the islands. Another authority in Eubric is the alchemists’ guild, also known as The Guild of Invision. The latest house to enter the race over the rule of Eubric is the noble House of Ji Pei, a family of architects hailing from a distant nation beyond the oceans.

Adding to that, countless thieves, assassins and smugglers thrive in the chaotic city, making life hard for the honest citizens and visitors. The most notorious of the many criminal syndicates within the city is known as the Wolfgang. From time to time foreign invaders sail in attempt to claim the wealthiest city in the world as their own, but so far none of them have succeeded.

Eubric is in a constant state of reconstruction, thus earning its nickname as the “Ever-changing City”. In fact, architects and builders are among the wealthiest people in the city. Rumours speak of a revolutionary new technology being in development within Eubric, something which would plunge the city into a whole new era. Needless to say, the one who claims that sort of technology as their own would instantly become the richest person in the world, so the rumours have roused a great interest in every opportunist in the city.

In the middle of all that lies Heroica – the sole reason why Eubric hasn’t fallen into ruins a long time ago. The courageous men and women of the organization of heroes put their lives in constant danger to make a better world for everyone. Or at least that’s what they claim…

Our planet is called Olegaia in the scientific circles, and it's journey around the Sun is accompanied by four other planets.

THE VETERANS

heroica-veterans-original.jpg

The six founders of Heroica were the ones who defeated the Orc King Tarokai in a daredevil mission to infiltrate Castle Fortaan during the Orcish Invasion 250 years ago. A hundred champions set out on that mission, but only the six survived. Each of them came from a different vocation, and their real names are a well-kept secret. Instead, they are referred with monikers that strike respect and fear everywhere they are heard. After the mission, the six came to Eubric Freeport, saw its turmoil and thus founded this noble organization.

THE HOUSES IN POWER

There are six noble houses that control Eubric Freeport. The houses are locked in constant quarrel with each other, and this situation is being abused by a seventh power rising. All houses employ champions from Heroica to do their dirty work by promising to form good relations with them. However, no hero can have good reputation with two rivalling houses at the same time.

THE DEITIES

There are countless of worshipped gods and goddesses in the vast world of Olegaia. Below are some of the better known deities popular in Eubric Freeport.

heroica-deity-mercutio2.jpgMERCUTIO the Trickster

The patron deity of traders and merchants but also worshipped by thieves. His symbols are the Moon, the elusive mercury and the spider. He is said to have govern over richness and poverty, so that one’s wealth is dependent on being in his favour. Many myths tell about Mercutio playing tricks on humans and fellow deities. He is the most worshipped divinity in Eubric Freeport, and there also lies the main temple of his cult – The Cathedral of Commerce. His three aspects (sometimes called his "sons") are Fortus ("Power"), Fortunus ("Wealth") and Famus ("Fame").

heroica-deity-ennoc2.jpgENNOC, the Righteous Light

He is described as the “light that reveals everything”, a god of justice and honesty. He is often associated with the Sun and the eagle. Angels are said to be his winged servants and messengers. His central place of worship was the now lost kingdom of Ennon that was named after him. After the destruction of the country by the Orcish Invasion, some of Ennoc’s followers fled to Eubric where they re-established the Paladin Order, dedicated to punishing injustice. Alas, even the noble order of knights was not spared by the corruptive atmosphere in Eubric.

heroica-deity-danab2.jpgMother DANAB

She is said to be the matron deity of all women, holding govern over fertility, health and childbirth. Her most prominent symbols are the apple and the cow. Myths tell how she gave birth to all the sentient races of the world, but one by one they all abandoned her. Furious over this, she summoned death, hunger and sickness to plague her children, but her rage turned into tears as she watched them suffer. It is not true that all women actively worship her, but many rituals related to womanhood are dedicated to Danab nevertheless. Her temples are where most women come for labour - in Eubric Freeport as well. The priestesses in those temples call themselves Sisters of Danab. They veil themselves in white and are respectfully referred to as "aunts". Deep south, she takes a more sinister aspect as Mama Yaya, the giver of sickness and health.

heroica-deity-neronneredice2.jpgNERON and NEREDICE, the Ebb and the Tide

The two maritime deities are described as a quarrelling couple whose bouts rouse storms and cause the tides. Their symbols include the trident and the net, as well as the many fish in the seas. They are mostly worshipped by seafarers and the merfolk, but with fear rather than with loyalty. It is said to cause bad luck to make an offering only to one of them and not the other. Notorious sea monsters are often said to be their offspring. They are naturally the most popular deities among the sailors in Eubric. The Vikings worship only Neron as Njordon, for they firmly believe that women at sea are bad luck.

heroica-deity-sylvania2.jpgSYLVANIA of the Forests

She governs over wild plants and animals, and is thus in control of the natural cycle of life and death. Her symbols are the tree and the butterfly. Worshipped mostly in thickly forested areas, she is also the patron deity of hunters. She is thought to be benevolent, but also merciless to those who abuse the gifts of the nature. On other accounts, she is said to reside as a queen in the Faerie, the mystical plane of the fey folk. She has a small following in Eubric among some clerics, druids and alchemists. To woodland elves she is known as Ywaine.

heroica-deity-centurus2.jpgCENTURUS of the Yearly Cycle

As the patron god of farmers and herders, Centurus (shortened to Sem by the common folk) rules over the crops and the flocks. Thus he acts as a counterpart to the wild Sylvania. His common symbols include the scythe and the goat. He is also said to govern time, especially the flow of seasons, and he is thus depicted as a horned man who is born as an infant at the beginning of the year and grows into an old man during the year before he is born again in the following one. He is widely worshipped in rural regions, but also among the Taurian races of Pyr - satyrs, centaurs and minotaurs. To them he is known as Kentauros.

heroica-deity-oleg2.jpgOLEG the Creator

Some myths name him the forger of the world, while others say he is the inventor of inanimate objects. He is also associated with the earth and the underground. His symbols are the hammer, the flame and the golem. Many myths are told of the legendary artefacts crafted by Oleg. He is naturally the patron deity of smiths, architects and artisans, and his worship is concentrated to their workshops. He is known by the dwarves and gnomes as Orrik, the Earth Father.

heroica-deity-amadeamelodion2.jpgAMADEA and MELODION, the Duality of Beauty

The twin deities of art, music and love, who are never said to leave each other’s side. Their symbols include musical instruments, feline animals and the number two. Unsurprisingly they are mostly worshipped by artists and musicians, but young lovers often send their prayers to them as well. Many consider them as divinities reigning over civilization and knowledge as well, and thus their statues can be found in libraries and academies, the ones in Eubric Freeport being no exception. Most elves revere them as their creators, naming them Galadrya and Celebryon.

heroica-deity-legovia.jpgLEGOVIA of the Mists of Origin

She is the head goddess of the Star Elves of Spesialia, and in her hands she carries the Chalice of Being and the Sword of Ruin. In the elven lore, she is the mother of the gods Galadrya and Celebryon and the creator of the universe, born from the mists of the dawn of time. But she is also held responsible for all natural catastrophes, for she is bound to destroy what she has created until she reaches perfection. The elves in Eubric worship her in secrecy, loving and fearing her both at the same time.

heroica-deity-fabula2.jpgFABULA SIBYLLA, the Augur of Dreams

The winged goddess of dreams and prophetic visions. She is associated with crystals, the scales of destiny and the owl. She is said to always speak in riddles, and several myths tell of unfortunate people who have misinterpreted her prophecies. She does not have a concentrated cult, only a chosen oracle with a few servants in the largest cities, including Oracle Semiramis in Eubric. The oracle is often visited by thrill-seeking adventurers.

heroica-deity-etheret2.jpgETHERETH the Omnipotent

Little is known of this mysterious divinity outside the mage societies. Ethereth does not have a designated gender, but it is said to appear as a rainbow or a large eye with a multi-coloured iris (hence it is known as Isiris in some circles). Ethereth is said to be the source of ether, the mystic substance that allows certain individuals to wield magic. Mages are tight-lipped about the rituals involving the worship of Ethereth, so it is unknown how large of a following the deity has. The only known temple of Ethereth in the world lies in the magical island of Etheria.

heroica-deity-mythra.jpgMYTHRA, The Mythril Maiden

The daughter of Orrik the Earth Father gave dwarves the gift of mythril in an ancient myth. Henceforth she has been worshipped by dwarven smiths and warriors as their benefactor. She is portrayed as a distinctively beardless female dwarf, which makes her homely in the eyes of the majority of her worshippers, but some dwarven women choose to shave their beards off as a homage to her.

heroica-deity-amphibiannoc.jpgAMPHIBIANNOC, the Holy Hopper

The god of the Frog Paladins is the embodiment of everything that is good and right in the world. Some say he is just the embodiment of Ennoc to the frog people, but they deny that fervently. Unlike Ennoc who is connected to the sun in the sky, Amphibiannoc is said to live in the sun that can be seen as a reflection on the surface of water. His symbol is unsurprisingly the frog.

heroica-deity-orangpendek.jpgORANG PENDEK, the Dormant Fist

The One God of the Metasimians, whose symbols are the fisted hand and the banana tree. After creating the Metasimians and bestowing them with his strength, he is said to have gone into the earth to sleep. The mists of the Mistland jungles are said to be his steaming breath, and whenever the skies would clear it was a sign that the god had awoken to guide his people. Metasimians believe their god has given them immortality through reincarnation. Individuals born with white fur are held in high esteem, for they are believed to carry the souls of great heroes of the past.

heroica-deity-thoric.jpgTHORIC the Judgment Bolt

The thunder god of the Norsemen also takes the position of a heavenly judge. He is said to carry a warhammer that strikes lightning bolts. He is widely worshipped in the north by those seeking justice or forgiveness. When a thunderstorm approaches, it’s a sign to the Norsemen that someone will soon be judged by Thoric. Despite his intimidating manifestation, he is regarded as a benevolent and fair deity.

heroica-deity-tarok2.jpgTAROK the Destroyer

A deity associated with war and destruction and described as an armoured giant with eyes of fire that would destroy everything he looks at if it weren't for the iron mask he wore. His symbols are the skull and the blade. He is worshipped by the orcs, goblins and ogres that hail from the western wastes of Baltarok, "the land of Tarok". The leader of the Orcish Invasion called himself Tarokai, “the son of Tarok”. He is still secretly worshipped among the greenskins of Eubric, but few of them openly admit it. A similar god of war called Wartan is worshipped by the barbaric norsemen.

heroica-deity-helvetia2.jpgHELVETIA the Frostheart

She is the heartless ruler of winter and the undead. Helvetia’s symbols include the icicle and the polar bear. A myth tells how she fell in love with a mortal man, but broke her heart when he died. She stored the man inside her icy throne known as Helvetia's Siege, and swore never to love anything living again. That is why she is the queen of the damned whose bodies are trapped wandering the mortal realm in a state of half-life, lusting for the life they lost. In Eubric, Helvetia is worshipped by necromancers and those of the undead who have kept their wits. However, in the northern Vårtland she is the chief goddess who takes care of souls in the afterlife. The Nôrns are said to be her daughters, and to them she has no name other than the Goddess.

heroica-deity-pseudos.jpgPSEUDOS the Guardian

Once a prominent deity in Strivvi and the surrounding areas, his popularity has dwindled over the years. In his glory days, he was worshipped by soldiers and guardsmen, as well as refugees and travellers. Primarily a god of protection, there is no clear reason why he has fallen out of grace. There are rumours that his worshippers have another, darker focus. Right now, he is only worshipped by secretive cults.

heroica-deity-akkaba.jpgAKKABA, the Disenchanted Seneschal

He is a lesser-known god associated with morality and punishment, worshipped especially among knights. His followers often feel superiority to other people, especially those of other races, for the teachings of Akkaba speak of the “true races” – humans, elves and dwarves – and deems other sentient species traitors of natural laws. According to the myths, treachery is the cardinal sin for Akkaba, who was once betrayed by his own master. He had been the protector of the forgotten God of Truth, but when his master had committed a crime against the universe and placed the blame on Akkaba, he became disillusioned of the truths he had been told and slew the god, becoming a deity himself. Akkaba’s symbol is the geometrical pattern known as the vla’dek.

heroica-deity-zoot2.jpgZOOT, the Forsaken One

Considered more of an archenemy to the gods rather than an actual deity, Zoot holds govern over the void that surrounds the mortal world. If he ever had a symbol, it is now long forgotten. He is also referred to as Azazot, the ruler of the hordes of demons that dwell in the void. It is said that his worshippers are driven mad by his evil influence, but the truth is that anyone who wants to worship him must already be insane. At some point in history, dark temples were raised in his name, and one of them is rumoured to be buried beneath Eubric Freeport as well, lost a millennia ago when the corrupted Moon Elven kingdom of Mercution was destroyed by the forces of Ennon. Nowadays the name of Zoot is mostly used to scare naughty children, but due to the increased amount of demons breaching through to the mortal realm, Azazot is a more threatening name.

Skrall entered the Library, he had been unable to find an open field to practice his archery, but he had contented himself with exploring a little more of the city scape. Skrall attempted to walk quietly across the floorboards of the library but to no avail given his girth. He had seen few books in his lifetime to begin with, much less such a collection as this hall boasted. He recalled how his middling siblings had described the library at the university at which they were taking night classes and he knew there was much to be gained from such a concentration of knowledge and history compiled in one room. He was afraid of what he may discover here, he had based his entire life on the instances of oppression he had witnessed performed against his own kind and thus felt that all those that he had robbed fully deserved it. Skrall braced himself for what was to come and addressed the strange ape-like individual that was standing by a nearby desk with an inkwell.

"Excuse me sir, my name is Skrall. I am unable to read any of these here books, but as you appear to be an individual who seems to be well acquainted with these surroundings I was wonderin' if ya could tell me a little more about the events that proceeded the Orcish invasion as it concerns the orc race as a whole. I've heard many a different account both from my political-leaning siblin's as well as those in my family who followed shall we say a more "academic" path. On the one hand I get political-hatred rhetoric and on the other the philosophical musin's of, "Whether tis right or wrong to follow one's natural tendencies..." and other such blather as to whether we of the orc race are only good at butcherin' things."

Byblos nodded at the hulking ogre.

"Certainly, sir. We have extensive records of the Orcish Invasion here in our library, our founders were veterans of the war, after all. Well, after six brave heroes - the very same six who would eventually found Heroica and become known as the Veterans - vanquished Tarokai, the self-proclaimed Orc King, at the ruined castle of Fortaan some 250 years ago, the orcs and their kin knew they had lost the war. Some of them retreated to the western prairies and wastelands they had come from, but most were either executed or enslaved by the same nations they had invaded. Even though Eubric Freeport was not part of the invasion, many orcish slaves were soon brought here by foreign traders. There was a time when no orc, ogre or goblin could walk free in the High Kingdoms or at the western shores of the Crystalline Sea without getting captured and sold as a slave. But over time, the fires of racial hatred simmered down, and people began to speak against slavery. Some kingdoms have already banned enslaving orcs. Eubric lacks a proper government and laws, so nothing can be done to those holding slaves here. Alas, it is the price of freedom - you are free to take freedom away from others."

Byblos looked at Skrall. "I hope this answer has quenched your thirst of knowledge for the time being."

"Yes this does and I thank ya kindly for taking the time to address it," Skrall replied to the librarian. With a now firmer grasp on his race's history the ogre once again exited Heroica Hall this time with a somewhat more cheerful outlook. "So it appears the oppression against my people is indeed beginning to lift at long last," Skrall chuckled to himself, "well I'm glad I put away the highway robbery business before it got me hung."

Excuse me, but I too would like to know about the Elders. Also do you have any information on my kin, The Lion Pack? I know we sound like bad guys but we are mainly Bounty Hunters, Assassins and Noblemen. However, most died so I do not know.

Looking round the library Elgar asked about the 6 founding members of herocia as they sound quite interesting.

"Ah, the elusive Veterans... The original six were the ones who defeated the Orc King Tarokai in a daredevil mission to inflitrate Castle Fortaan. A hundred champions set out on that mission, but only the six survived. Each of them came from a different vocation, and their real names are a well-kept secret. Instead, they are referred with monickers that strike respect and fear everywhere they are heard... The Golden Dragon, The Lady Luck, The Walking Mountain, The Fey One, The Miracleworker, The Doomsayer... After the mission, they came to Eubric, saw its turmoil and thus founded this noble organization."

"The modern Veterans take after the traditions of their forebearers, being known only as monickers of their own. Lucky few are our members who get to meet them in person. But I must apologize, I am forbidden to talk about our current leaders in more detail. Just know that our leaders are the ones who ensure Heroica's position as the peacekeeper in this city. That is why their true identities must be protected. I hope you understand."

Also do you have any information on my kin, The Lion Pack? I know we sound like bad guys but we are mainly Bounty Hunters, Assassins and Noblemen. However, most died so I do not know.

"Why don't you educate me, good sir, as you must know a good deal more of your own kin than I. This world has so many nations, all of them with their own set of factions, that I cannot possibly know everything about all of them. But I am as eager to learn as I am to educate."

Byblos carries a large scroll and a ladder to one of the walls of the library, and starts to hang the scroll onto the wall. The scroll contains a detailed map of Eubric Freeport with all of it's most important locations.

"There, that should help our brave heroes get around the city more easily", the Metasimian says to himself, pleased of his accomplishment.

The librarian receives a letter from an adventurer out questing.

Hail wise librarian, though I am away from Heroica Hall, I still wish to continue my quest for knowledge.

I com from a secluded castle from the mountains and tough I have journeyed within the confines of your map,

but I know little of the lands and nations beyond. I'm curious as to the many kingdoms and factions that inhabit the realm.

such as the countries where the Six veterans came from, anything you could tell me about those nations would be appreciated.

Another Matter that interests me is the paladin order, I have heard many tales of these holy warriors and hope to one day join them,

any thing you could tell me about the order would be appreciated. I hope to receive a letter from you soon.

The librarian is thrilled to receive a letter from Sir Christopher, and promptly responds to it.

Dear Christopher,

Thank you for your letter! I'm afraid the multitude of nations in this world we live in are too numerous to recount in this letter. I am certain you will learn more of our world as you travel through it in your quests.

As for your other question, I am glad to have a more satisfying answer. The Order of Paladins hails from the lost kingdom of
Ennon
. The cleric-knights were the backbone of the kingdom before the Orcish Invasion, as they worshipped the god
Ennoc
, who is also known as the Righteous Light and the Heavenly Justice, and in whose name the kingdom was founded over a thousand years ago. The Paladins are said to be protected by angels, who are Ennoc's children by most accounts. When Ennon fell, some of the surviving paladins brought their order and their faith to Eubric Freeport. It is rumoured that the order will accept knights and clerics of a certain level of experience into their ranks, so if you work hard, you have a good chance to one day step into the light of Ennoc and become one of them.

I am thoroughly glad to share the knowledge of this library with you. When you return to the city, why not pay me a visit?

Yours sincerely,

~
Byblos

Tesni stepped into the grand halls of the Library, at the far end a man from a race she had not yet encountered sat at a desk, nose deep in a book. Light played across lacquered wood, dancing reflections across the wall. This place was like the Temple cave, except the histories here were recorded in books and scroll instead of carved and painted upon the walls. The great knowledge and wisdom held on the pages pulsed across a spiritual sense, with reverence she walked forward, nervously fiddling a scroll and a scrap of paper from her pouch.

*ahem* “Sir Librarian, I heard that this library accepts scrolls and books about things and places outside of Eubric. If that is true, may I leave the history of my tribe with you?”

The librarian looked up. “Of course Madame! I always seek to expand the collection and provide information to the curious.”

Tesni handed over the scroll. It was a well cared for manuscript, illuminated in parts and housed in a mountain leather case.

The World was built. The seas were made. The mountains were raised. The forests were planted. The rivers were drawn. The lakes were bored. The beasts were freed. And so the gods were done. Pleased with their work they gifted each creation with a tool of their strength. The mountains were gifted Cryfder the great sword and that is all we, the Hightribe know of. For the world gave birth to the brothers, to care for the land and the beasts and the gods left them to live and retired to the grand realm. The peoples of the land gathered into tribes of like kind and again into smaller tribes of like kind. One tribe moved high, to tend the sheep and clear the water, to stop fires upon the heath and stop the rocks falling to injury. They became known as the Hightribe. They remained on the mountain and thrived.

A generation after the Hightribe was named a powerful storm blew through the mountain and lightning hit the craggy bluff. As the menfolk sought out the scattered flocks a young woman of the tribe sought after the strike, for she new power may lie there as a danger to travellers. At the bluff she found a new cave, opened by the power of the gods. A circle of rocks bordered the cliff edge and so it would be done for future. Striking a torch she entered and found in a fist of rock the mighty blade Cryfder. She became the first of the priestesses.

And so the tribe devoted tests of might to gain worthiness of the blade, to gain approval of the gods and open he stone fist.

The Hightribe lived and flourished, well known for strength.

Tesni reverently re-rolled the scroll and returned it to its case. She handed it over to the librarian. “This is all that was of my tribe. An elven Cleric visited our temple one summer and recorded the histories from the walls, he gave us this scroll, a copy of his records from the walls, as thanks for helping. Please take care of it.” As she handed it over the scrap of paper unfurled. It was a cheap cast off, sold for pennies by the printers and again by peddlers. Written in the careful script of a rote taught scribe were a few words.

The Hightribe lost its mighty leader and a fool took power. He left many times for cities low down. One day he came back and was scared. In the night, in the rain, the knights came and destroyed the tribe by fire and blade. The priestess and a child escaped. The child grew strong and brave. On her majority she proved worthy of the blade.

The writing changed to an unsure sure scribe.

The priestess died, I buried her with the other ones. Now I leave to prove my tribe strong to the last.

Tesni quickly fetched it up and crammed it back in her bag. “This isn’t much, just a new part to Hightribe history. It is not finished yet.” She said, “I am still writing it!”

"thank you for the letter. I'm sorry if I was a bit unclear in mine. I meant to ask about the nations that the veterans came from such as the Dastan Empire, Duplovia, and the mountains of Titaan.

The librarian was pleased to meet the knowledge-thirsty knight who had written him a letter.

"I appreciate the more specific questions, but I am still unsure what exactly you wish to know. Dastan Empire is a vast, mountainous country to the north-east, beyond the Crystalline Sea. It is most famous for its dragons and warriors who tame them. Duplovia is the largest city in all of the High Kingdoms, built on seven hills on the banks of River Dubley in ancient times by a race of gigantic people. That race is long gone from the city now, but they left behind many enormous buildings that are said to make you feel like a lilliput. The Mountains of Titaan lie on the eastern edge of the High Kingdoms, and a total of nine dwarven clans inhabit the endless caverns below them."

Also I'm curious about several of the locations within the city, such as the cathedral of commerce, academy of enlightenment, the hanging gardens, and Triad park.

"The Cathedral of Commerce is the temple of Mercutio, the god of merchants and wealth and the most worshipped divinity here in Eubric. The cathedral is the gathering place for businessmen and moneytraders, so you could call it a glorified bank, if you will. The Academy of Enlightenment is naturally the facility where youth of the noble and wealthy go to get educated in this city. The Hanging Gardens are where the fortunate people living on the Sungold Hill spend their freetime, while the Triad Park is the same for common people. Shady business is said to be done at the Triad at nights, so I would not venture there unarmed during the small hours."

And lastly what are the High and low kingdoms?

"The continent that lies to our west is divided into the High Kingdoms in the north and the Low Kingdoms in the south. Further west lies the seemingly endless wastelands."

"I hope these answers satisfy you, kind sir."

Jess walked into the Library, and was assaulted by the smell of old books, ink, and fine leather. Jess took it in for a few moments, a smile on her face. After Jess had taken a considerable amount of time enjoying the smell of the Library, she remembered that she was here to gain knowledge, and not just to stand and enjoy the smell. Jess waved at Byblos, the strange looking librarian. She then found a scroll, with short descriptions of the Veterans inscribed on its papyrus pages. One in particular interested her the most.

"Byblos?" Jess began.

Byblos looked up from his book. "Yes, my lady?"

"Could you tell me more about Lady Luck?"

The librarian shakes his head.

"Unfortunately I've already written down most everything I know about her for you to see. I may add that her great-great-grandson is the current head of the Hinckwell House, and it is said that her miraculous luck runs down the bloodline."

Jess frowned. "Thanks anyways, Byblos. This trip has been informative enough."

With that, Jess turned heel and walked back to Scheherazade's bar.

The librarian shrugs his shoulders.

"All I know about Donny Dozenhands is that he is a pickpocket who is associated with the Wolfgang. We don't tend to hold records of living people in this library, after all."

Thank you said Elgar as he left the library

De'kra walked into the library, eying all the books and scrolls of yesteryear. So much knowledge lurked in this region, ever growing, ever expanding. Perhaps this place might know where he came from. Though from what the shade could see, the maps only contained the Lost Kingdom of Ennon, Moone, and the edge of the High Kingdoms. Only the edge of the continent was shown. De'kra walked up to the simian librarian and asked, "What east...of...Crystalline Sea?"

"East of the Crystalline Sea lies another continent that contains for example the Dastan Empire. Beyond that lies another sea and more continents. This is a vast world we live in, with many uncharted territories and unsailed waterways. Sentient species even stranger than yours or mine can be found in the distant corners of the world. All we can do is explore more and more, but I believe there will always be new secrets to uncover."
