Galactic Paranoia

Day 7: Suffer Not the Witch to Live!

As the day dawns, the team assembles for their morning update. Drake Knator, Pvt. Mann, Dayton Stern and Pvt. Crade all arrive late, looking tired and more than a little annoyed. Sgt. Pincer and Pvt. Fletchman don't arrive at all.

Admiral Blaire and Commander Blazer exchange concerned looks after reviewing the hall security cameras from the night before, especially over this shot, which leaves them wondering.

day07_01.jpg

Grand Admiral Volrik: "You ladies mind taking your seats? I know you had a big night, but we have important business to discuss. We've had two deaths, one expected, and one unexpected. Let's get right to the video!" :sweet:

pincer_01.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: One more adjustment and I should have it!

pincer_02.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: Finally! I'll be able to listen to every word said in the whole base though my giant speaker!

pincer_03.jpg

Unidentified figure: Seems kind of sneaky, Pincer, like something a spy would do.

Sgt. Pincer: AAAAH! You startled me, and it's Sgt. Pincer, and no, it isn't sneaky. Well, yes, it's sneaky, but it's how we'll catch those Black Sun operatives!

Unidentified figure: Oh, is that so?

Sgt. Pincer: Absolutely! I just need a little better signal, and I can't figure out how to get it.

Unidentified figure: You need to adjust the antenna, of course.

Grand Admiral Volrik: "I wish someone could adjust the colour on this, it's awful!"

Admiral Blaire: "Sorry sir, I'll get it."

pincer_04.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: Yes, this is helping, great suggestion!

Unidentified figure: I know how to make it even better, more wire!

Sgt. Pincer: Really? Well, do it, we're on the brink of success!

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Much better, good job Blaire."

pincer_05.jpg

Unidentified figure: Just keep wrapping them around.

Sgt. Pincer: But I'm getting tangled up in them.

Unidentified figure: It's ok, I'll come up with some hot idea to get you out of them once it's all done.

pincer_06.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: This is too much.

Unidentified figure: It's fine, just try to get untangled.

Sgt. Pincer: I can't, the wires are too tight. If I had a little more light, maybe I could untie myself.

pincer_07.jpg

Unidentified figure: Need a light? No problem.

Sgt. Pincer: What are you ... aaaaah, that's hot.

Unidentified figure: That's the idea.

pincer_08.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: The wires are catching fire! And my clothes! And me! AAAAAAHHHHH!

Unidentified figure: You won't be tangled up for long.

Sgt. Pincer: HELP! WOOWEE THIS HURTS!

pincer_09.jpg

Sgt. Pincer: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pincer_10.jpg

*crackle*

Grand Admiral Volrik: "What a waste."

Admiral Blaire: "You know he was innocent?"

Grand Admiral Volrik: "What? Oh, no, I was just thinking of how it was a missed opportunity to toast marshmallows."

Admiral Blaire: "..."

pincer_11.jpg

Commander Blazer: "And this is the scene we found this morning, nothing but the charred remains of Sgt. Pincer."

Commander Blazer: "Looks like you did it again, people. He was right on the verge of discovering the spies and you killed him. I practically vouched for him myself early in this mission, but do any of you listen? Now the whole place smells like burnt popcorn, too."

Admiral Blaire: "We still wanted to be sure he was loyal, so we consulted with this special book we found in his quarters. It must be valuable, it's quite old and signed by someone named Inquisitor Fernandez. Now, let's see here... well, according to this, he's a witch and should be burned to death. Looks like they got that part covered."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Reminds me of a girl I once knew, she was from Dathomir and had the most bewitching eyes. Long story. Oh, look, there's a price tag on that book, it says 'Buy one Get one Azufre' ... I don't get it."

Admiral Blaire: "Well, the slicers found plenty of evidence that he was loyal, so let's just go with that. I'm not sure what kind of lunatic would use a book like this, but maybe they should be burned to death for such nonsense."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Moving on, I'm most disturbed by this one, both because she was the only woman left and because she was our mortician. Roll the footage!"

Admiral Blaire: "I can't."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Why not?"

Admiral Blaire: "It's just too awful. Really too awful."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "But I promised them video."

Admiral Blaire: "I'm sure they'll understand."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "But I won't..."

Admiral Blaire: "I've already had a copy sent to your quarters."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Oh, well no problem then. Carry on."

*HOST'S NOTE: I can only take so many crappy, poorly lit pictures in one night. I may add these later, if you don't kill each other too quickly. Maybe another EB News special on "The Galactic Paranoia Ripper".*

Admiral Blaire: "I'll summarize what happened. Basically, it seems that someone escorted Pvt. Fletchman back to her quarters, then dismembered her. Part by part."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Did you know that a standard minifig complete with hair, can be broken down into 10 separate pieces?"

Admiral Blaire: "I did after watching the security video."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Our slicers have done a comprehensive check of her data records and it appears she was being blackmailed by Black Sun because of some youthful indiscretions, something about wild parties and drunken debauchery."

Admiral Blaire: "Actually, she was covering for her sister more than herself."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Her sister was a drunken debaucher? Do we have pictures of her?"

Admiral Blaire: "No sir, her sister was on the wrong side of the law at one time."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "I suppose it would be too much to hope it was for drunken debauchery."

Admiral Blaire: "Yes sir." :hmpf:

Grand Admiral Volrik: "It was? Excellent!"

Admiral Blaire: "No sir, it would be too much to hope."

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Oh. Well, whatever. It looks like our resident vigilante got it right, again, whoever that is. Shame the rest of you aren't so bright. That's a total of two traitors down and more of us than I'd like to count. At the rate you people are killing the loyal members of the team, we don't stand a chance. Hmmm." *whispers to his pilot* "Yes sir!" *the pilot runs out of the room, panicked*

Admiral Blaire: "Something wrong, sir?"

Grand Admiral Volrik: "What? Oh, it was nothing, I just need to get the hell out of here take a trip for a few weeks. I'll be sure to contact you via the holonet for the duration of this mission."

Admiral Blaire: "Sir? You're leaving?"

Grand Admiral Volrik: "Important business, yes, that's it, important business."

Admiral Blaire: "Oh, I understand completely." :hmpf_bad:

Voting will continue to be done publicly for the duration of this game ... of life, so get cracking, the fate of the galaxy is in your hands.

Grand Admiral Volrik: "This is madness. We're doomed..."

Oh well. At least that vigilante is on target. I hate that we killed another loyal member. I have no information of value to offer today. It looks like I found out who the mortician was today. I told you there was something up with the mortician. Did anyone find out anything?

Well, time to spill the beans.

Yes, I am an innocent Imperial Soldier, however, I along with Pvt. Pepper and one other, were both members of a secret alliance that she came up with after investigating me on Day Two. Unfortunately, she failed to mention that she was a Black Sun criminal.

Just because we were involved in a secret alliance for part of the game, it doesn't mean that I am a Black Sun myself. Kill me if you must to prove my innocence, however, you will be down a loyal and dedicated member to the Galactic Empire.

Here is the information that she sent me, via a hologram:

Boden, I a messaging you to suggest you and I form an alliance of sorts. Not like that of the Rebels. No infact, quite the opposite. You see I am an investigator of sorts for our side, and I know you are loyal as I investigated you last night. I suggest you and I combine our suspisions to see if we can find any rats, and invite those of who are loyal into our group. Do you agree to joining, or have I just revealed needlessly reveald myself?

and, another night, she told me of another's innocence:

Hello Pvt. Boden Constrek. It's good to see you survived the night. On your advice I investigated Pvt. Drake Knator, and he is innocent. I shall invite him into the fold.

I only hope that she was not lying about Drake.

Boden, Pepper was converted to a Black Sun Operative which means that she probably was loyal at that time. I think the information is useful, but just remember that anyone can be turned to a Black Sun Operative. Even you.. or maybe you already have been. Drake could have been turned too. I suspect one of you at this point because Pepper knew she had your trust and you were easy to manipulate once she had your trust.

Oh my God we're doomed, doomed do you hear me!? I mean, what will we do? All the beautiful women are dead. :cry_sad: To bad it took killing all of them to find the sour grape. :hmpf_bad:

So then, what to do now people? I guess you want a clarification of what Boden has said? I got the same types of messages from our dear dead Pepper, saying that she had investigated me and found me to be loyal, and that she had also done so for another. Of course, I'm not stupid, and I most certainly didn't put all my trust in her. In fact, after she first contacted me, I don't think we even talked together privately again. Anyway, good she's gone now since she was turned. Once again, good job to our vigilant! :sweet:

One step forward, one step back. Why does it always have to be one step back too :cry_sad: Poor Pincer, may he rest in peace. Good job by our vigilante though, whoever that is.

And now I don't have a clue where to go from here, does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe we should start here. I trust Dayton at this point but he could have been turned by the Black Sun. They did blackmail Pepper afterall. I'm interested to hear why you all were late. We also had a lot of people wanting to defend Pepper yesterday when Tong, who was obviously enlightened shifted the blame to her.

Have you guys done anything in your meetings? This was my first time at one, and all we did was stand around and look at each other.

Do I look like an idiot? Seriously Dayton, I said I trusted you. This is just a ridiculous explanation. Why were you late?

Hey Boden, chill. She was the last chick on the imperials, and now she is gone. I'm really mad that some shmuck is coming along and changing people, but I'm glad she was taken care of. Now we need to find the guy whose behind this.

I know you did and I appreciate it, but that was neither an explanation nor directed at you, so I'm not sure why you're at odds over it.

Um... You appear to be avoiding the question, or maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say, so what were you doing last night, having a beer with three other people?

I simply said the wrong thing. What I meant to say was that it was sad to see another loyal go and also sad to loose our last women.

Because I want this Black Trash out of the Imperial Army. We don't have any other solid leads at the moment, so anything that could even be possibly used as a clue must be brought to attention.

I've got my eye on you buddy.

And put down that blaster, you could hit someone! Besides, I only know a handful of people who survive a blaster shot in some places.
