Guss Posted September 7, 2008 146a Hello, I already showed here the "sabre des mers" a little pirate sloop I made, I also made a little river Hideout where the crew is unboarding some treasures, sorry for the bad pictures, I'll make better pictures tomorrow : General view of the Hideout : pirates are unloading treasures and stuff. a big canon on a little mountain, at the back we can see an adventurer ( minifig from the 5918 set, with a cowboy hat ^^ ) heading to a cavern, inside the cavern there is a big amount of jewels and treasures in a big chest, but the picture is too dark, I'll post the picture of this treasure tomorrow) a pirate is fishing while another one is lowering the foc ( the front sail , don't know if it s the same name in english ) , we can see a drunk old captain near another cavern ( with a bed and a table inside, but the picture is one more time too dark, I ll post it tomorrow ^^ ) another view of the front, with 2 monkeys fighting on the tree ( the 2 others sheets of the tree are broken :/ they are on the mountain on the other side of the river. ) another picture to show the interior of the house , with flash we can see the inside^^ a little fountain yep I know the windows are a little High, but I noticed it after placing the minifig inside.. the inside is full of things, but we can't see it on these pictures, I'll post it tomorrow too ^^ another picture with flash and the last one, I tried to take the interior full pics HERE As I said, I'll make better pictures tomorrow, my camera is low battery actually ( it's a old numeric camera, 2Mpixel :/ )
Bob Posted September 7, 2008 I like it! Espesially the silly pirate who spilled the treasure everywhere. Great Job!
Guss Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) thanks Bob, I had this idea after spilled the treasure by mistake ^^ Edited September 7, 2008 by Guss
Dennimator Posted September 7, 2008 It looks good, I especially like the clumsy pirate I like the big as well.
Guss Posted September 7, 2008 thanks Dennimator , it seems that everyone like this pirate^^
Lt. Col. Thok Posted September 7, 2008 Very nicely done; that cannon is a gem. The setting has a distinct Atlantic coast feel...
Gen. Knowledge Posted September 7, 2008 Very nicely done. I like the two toned building. With warehouses like these, you want the windows high up to make it harder for others to steal your loot. That cannon looks like it could blow a hole through anything. Tony
Guss Posted September 7, 2008 Thanks Gen. Knowledge and Lt. Col. Thok I like this canon too, but I had difficulty to make the rear wheels, if you look carefully they do not appear at the left of the canon, the wheel is hidden . With warehouses like these, you want the windows high up to make it harder for others to steal your loot cool thanks you gave me an excuse for that ^^
Manta Posted September 7, 2008 That's a pretty cool hideout, wish I had one of those.
Guss Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) As I said , I add some pics : Firstly , as some liked the big canon, I made detailed pictures of it in THIS FOLDER a more detailed view of the house's roof : the two littles canons of the roof, inspired by the Dreamweb's albatros's canons the interior of the house, there is a fire in the chimney but we can't see it . the warehouse interior the big treasure the interior of the cavern without the boat we can see the details of the cliff the entire house from the front, with the boat it was impossible to take that picture : some other pics where I tried to make it look cool : full pics HERE , as usual , thanks for watching^^ Btw, it was my first diorama and your kind words really encouraged me to make some others^^ thanks you Edited September 8, 2008 by Guss
Gen. Knowledge Posted September 8, 2008 Hey Guss, The new pictures came out great. There is a lot more detail without the overexposure from the flash. Your "Little Hideout" isn't very little is it? If I had one suggestion, it would be to change the wheels on your cannon. Maybe if you used wagon wheels that matches the cannon barrel in color. The wheels on there now look a little too modern. Another thing you could do is take off the tread and let it roll on it's rims, or don't change it at all... Either way, great job. Tony
Guss Posted September 8, 2008 thanks for the advice , yeah I agree there is a lot more detail without the overexposure , like with this photo : hum sorry, i'll stop now, I promise.. for the wheels of the canon, I do not have other wheels unfortunately , the only one of this size I have are yellow or whites or grey like this one, and I wanted it to have 4 wheels ( don't ask me why ... it was a whim ^^
Mister Phes Posted September 8, 2008 Ahhhh Guss, I've somehow missed your Little Hidout - was that supposed to be spelled "Hideout"? You've used that Castle river baseplate haven't you? I've always wondered how it would work in a Pirate MOC and you've answered that question nicely. The only thing I'd suggest is more tropical jungle plants, but of course they're only option if you have them
Guss Posted September 8, 2008 sadly I do not have more jungle plants^^ and the I didn't get this river baseplate in a castle set, but in the 6552 set, but it's surely the same baseplate. I wanted to makes a little Hideout , but it turned to a kind of base ^^ a kind of warehouse maybe.
