The LEGO Group has decided Classic-Pirates.com Community shall be represented by the Eurobricks LEGO Ambassador and does not require an Ambassador of its own.

I no longer have time to be a LEGO Ambassador to the best of my ability so I shall make no effort to appeal their decision.

We do however, have the Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme in progress, so we have the choice of:

  1. Abandon the project.
  2. Continue the project for as long as it takes and hope the Eurobricks Ambassador will be kind enough to submit it for us.

So I'll put that the above poll - now you decide...

I would say yes, lets continue and see were it leads to. Because it could lead to something, if not a Theme, Sub Theme then maybe something else that Lego would take in consideration and include in a future pirate theme.

We wouldn´t want all the fine efforts, you and many, many other members have done go to waste.

I am very unhappy about that. Pirates are maybe not such important for TLG. :sadnew::cry2:

I would say continue.

Even if it doesn't get submitted it's the process (and there was no guarantee that TLG would even listen to our suggestions) it's the process of getting there that is fun and that process is also bringing people together on the forums and encouraging more of a collaborative community around the Pirates forum; which is worth it in it's own right.

Id say continue, because why not? (If it isnt too much work for Mister Phes and other organizers)

I'm with The _Cook on this. Even if nothing "comes of it", I think it's a nice community building activity. When we were focused on it rather than the new sets, there was a lot of involvement and discussion that we don't normally see around here.

That's even worse news than I thought, really sorry to hear that...

However unfortunate, when looking ahead I totally agree with what The_Cook said. This is a community project, something that could bring people closer together, let's pull this off - now more than ever! After all, this is the Pirate forum... Let's show them they made a mistake!

Aw that's a shame. I feel like it would be best to continue it. I can't see why the Eurobricks Ambassador wouldn't submit it for us.

I agree with The_Cook as well. There's a lot we get out of the process. Let's continue!

I vote to continue the project. Lego has shown interest in the Pirate theme with the on again, off again relationship it has with the series including this recent batch that is going to be released. So perhaps they will continue to listen to our suggestions.

That being said, I can see why they are ending the classic-pirates ambassador. There is no doubt that this site has dried up a bit, with many of the good builders going inactive and/or focusing on GoH or other projects. There are no projects really like that in this forum, which is why we excited to see " Guild of the Brick Seas." Even another tournament of retribution would be appreciated to spark some activity and keep the eye of Lego on the pirate coast...

Too bad TLG dosn't care about the project. It was cool to get the community involved here, and you guys should submit the ideas anyway.

TLG has been acting weird lately, including the bizarre decision to dismiss the ambassador here. pir_wacko.gif

TLG is indeed doing some cuts, which are in my opinion unnecessarsy, given unprecedented financial succes of company as a whole. They state that the reason for this are many new fans and afols which appeared in last few years, mainly from the east. I was part of the group which was set to redefine Lego Ambassador Program and transorm it into what now became "Lego Ambassador Network. I'm not copmpletely happy with what came out either, but new CEE manager set many fixed points which were undebatable. But lets wait and see. I still think It could (and should) work and if not, we will have good reason to request changes.

Regarding Classic Pirates Ambassador: the problem is its connection to Eurobricks. If CP.com would register as standalone online community, it could easily continue to have ambassador. Only problem is that rules for online communities are not fixed yet and recognition of online comminity for relies solely on discretion of CEE staff, but that should change soon.

I will also not continue as Ambassador, but I will stay at another function in the program and I promise my support if and when this PIrate subtheme will be proposed (but it would need to get presented by EB ambassador).

I also agree with "the cook": do it for yourself. Chances of getting it realized by TLG are in any case not very big. It talked to some TLG staff about this in Skaerbaek and they said Lego Ideas might be best (or only) chance to get it done,

Classic-Pirates.com was registered as a standalone community but the issue is the forum is located at Eurobricks.

So unless we relocate the forum or start a new one on Classic-Pirates.com there's nothing we can do. Both options have been discussed and we've determined the LEGO Pirates Forum will be more successful as part of Eurobricks.
