All you had to do was answer "yes" to the strange letter that popped into your hands, asking whether or not you wanted to participate in a grand tournament of Decamon, the hit card game that was suddenly being played around all the nations surrounding the Crystalline Sea. Now you were here in a strange crowd, in a blink of an eye. You look around, and see some familiar faces among the gathering. You have been teleported into a castle where almost everything you see is green. Even the man sitting on the balcony above you is wearing green clothes and a green crown.

heroicadt-emeraldpalace.jpg

The man then speaks.

heroicadt-emeraldo.jpg

"Welcome to the Emerald Palace, where the first-ever Decamon Tournament is about to take place. As some of you may know, I am Roland Emeraldo, and I will be your gamehost this evening. Well, technically we are currently outside the normal timeline, so we can play for as long as we like, and when the event ends, you will be transported back to the very same moment you left from. This is thanks to my good friend, Elphaba the Witch. Give her a round of applause, everyone!"

You turn your head and see the green-faced witch standing on another balcony.

heroicadt-elphaba.jpg

"Oh, Roland, don't try to sweet-talk me into making this a friend's favor. We settled for a price, and you're going to pay or I will just leave you in this timeloop for the rest of your life."

heroicadt-emeraldo.jpg

"Ahem, right... Well, thank you anyway, Elphaba. Now, you might find yourself asking exactly what will happen tonight. Before we begin the games, you should familiarize yourself with the rules of Decamon. You also need a hand of cards to play with, which you can conveniently buy from the Receptionist, who will also write down your name to confirm your participation to the Tournament."

The dummy in the corner springs to life and waves.

heroicadt-reception.jpg

heroicadt-receptionist.jpg

"At. Your. Service."

heroicadt-emeraldo.jpg

"After the event is over - and no sooner, mind you - you can also ask the Receptionist to exchange cards for prizes. This tournament isn't just for fun, you see, for the better cards you win and collect, the better prizes you will earn by the end of it. And if you manage to beat everyone in your Cup, I will personally train you into the profession of a Decamon Drafter.

Yes, the Tournament itself will be played in Cups, the number of which depends on how many of you are. You will be pitted against another contestant, and the winner will move on while the loser is dropped out. This process will be repeated until there is only one player left in a Cup, and that person will win the main prize. Those victors will then be pitted against one of the formidable Decamon Champions at the Championship Cup. Chances are none of you will be able to beat every existing champion, but that's the whole thrill of it, isn't it?

Now, go get yourselves prepared, everyone! I will announce once everything is ready for the Tournament to start. Enjoy yourselves!"

You watch as everyone flocks to the Receptionist, before you realize you should get in line as well. You are not entirely sure what you have gotten yourself into, but you know it will be worth a shot, nevertheless.

EDIT: You didn't edit yet and I changed my mind about what hand I want so I changed it. Can I do that?

"I feel like I've done this before."

Purpearl recognises Karie at the front and walks up to her with 25 gold in hand, "What a fine coincidence meeting you here, Karie. Here's the gold that I owed from not long ago. And good luck with the tournament." (38-25=13) drawing a smile as she hands Karie the gold.

Purpearl approaches the Dummy and attempts to buy a couple of hands, like she had planned, but only a single hand appears to be possible.

Purpearl buys 1 Beginner's Hand for 5 gold. (13-5=8)

"Meh. Keep the money. I'm not entirely sure if this is a really bad fever dream, if the world imploded, or if I'm stuck in the void. Or the Black Hole. Or if I'm really Karie." She pokes herself, making sure she's actually Karie, and not some duplicate Karie.

"Black Holes, Titaani astronomers have proven the existence of multiples, or are you talking about something else entirely?"

He eld out his hand.

"Nice to see you again, we've only met once but I hope you remember it, and yes, this is real, in fact I happen to be on a quest right now, and still here at the same time, I'm currently in a battle with some nasty denizens of the forest, it's very exciting isn't it? I can't wait to see how it turns out, but how have you been faring, well I hope?"

Arthur finds Mizuki and repeats his earlier trade (gives Mizuki 150 gold, gains 2 Chicken Drumsticks), before walking over to the dummy and staring at it intently, trying to decide which hand would be best for him.

"I suppose a handsome automaton like yourself would know quite a lot about Decamon. Care to give a fella a hand and share some advice on the game?"

OOC: Will we still be matched up with NPCs appropriate to the strength of our cards, or will this be exclusively against other players now?
