It's a cute little butterfly car. But I fail to see the connection to a Volkswagen beetle.

You've got quite a literal interpretation on a beetle, eh? I think you could try to model top of the VW beetle a bit better to get the point across better. Maybe with a couple transparent plates and some yellow tiles, and cheese slopes.
