Here is my build for Barracks Phase 2. It's a bit of an unorthodox training ground, but I thought it would make sense for Mitgardian warriors to be well trained in how to survive Mitgardia's icy climate. Also, this is my unofficial entry to the Natural Beauty category of the Summer Joust. The smaller pine tree is based off of mrcp6d’s design.

Part of any Mitgardian warrior’s training is to learn how to survive for days outside in the frigid cold with minimal supplies. Snow shelters offer relative warmth during the night if well constructed.

Gorgeous build, Isaac  The snowscaping is some of your best yet, and that big tree is outstanding! :oh:

The photography and irregular base are top-notch as well

Thanks LJ! I had a lot of fun using wedge plates for the base :classic:

This looks incredible! The snowy terrain is very realistic and I love the way you built the shelter, nestled into the cliff.

I was just reading the mitgardian front-page, and that indeed states that at a certain age, all Mitgardian boys are send off to live a year in the snow and cold. Only if they return alive, they're considerd man!

But well, with such a landscape as yours to survive in, I'd count myself lucky to be a Mitgardian boy

Thanks! I tried to pick a realistically sheltered location for the snow fort :classic:

Thanks Titus, and yeah, it is pretty to look at, not sure I'd want to be stuck in it for a year

Beautiful snow and rockwork (great job doing all the backside as well!), SK, and those trees, especially the large one, are really excellent! It took me quite a while to spot those two guys in there, the icicles are a great idea, and the photography gives it a very frigid and cold feel. Great work here! :classic:

Thanks Garmadon! I originally had more of a bowl shape for the shelter, but that made no sense  and looked silly anyways, so I went with more of a snow cave.

The pine trees, rockwork, and snowscape all look fantastic, and I also really like the concept here! The overhanging bits of snow/ice look great too!

Awesome work! The snow shelter is fantastic, both in concept and execution, those smallest trees with upside down flowers are great as well!:thumbup:

Thanks Kai! It's good to know you like the idea of the build, as I thought it was rather fun and made for a great MOC opportunity.

Lovelyful - I mean what can I say?

You've got the rocks and the snow worked out perfectly well.

What about a "Summer in Mitgardia" build next time?

Thanks Captain! And I will do some non-snowy Mitgardian landscapes in the future.

I'm always impressed by how well you combine the straight and curved slopes for snow. I'm a curved slope only guy for snowscaping, but you've certainly refined your style over the years and it looks better than ever.

Lots of taps and clips w/ bars in the big tree?

Thanks! I usually use more straight slopes than curved, but that mainly stems from having more straight slopes available. Glad you like it!

The tree uses the standard SNOT plate trunk with travis brick core design. Then most of the leaves are attached to some 1x2 plate with handle on end which are attached in turn to 1x1 tile with vertical clip which hook right to the trunk. I may make a tutorial at some point, though it's pretty simple. I mixed in a few straight out branches attached with SNOT slopes bricks and headlights too.

Great idea and beautiful build! Some of the best snow I have ever seen.

Thanks BrickCurve, I think this is in the top 3 for my personal snowy landscapes, along with Nordheim Keep, and Daydelon Beacon :classic:

Fantastic build SK! The landscape is gorgeous, it is definitely one of my favorite landscapes from you! I love the premise behind it too, it's a really original idea for the barracks.
