The Yellow Brick Posted September 13, 2010 This is fantastic DCI gene hunt, I'm looking forward to seeing more from your son (oh and you )
Legostein Posted September 13, 2010 Hello! The restaurant looks great, especially the tiled roof border. I am also a big fan of the old road baseplate you used. I always liked it to place larger buildings along a road which works nicely as the road goes to the side. All in all an excellent addition for a classic town. Cheers, ~ Christopher
CMP Posted September 13, 2010 This is my favorite resturant, and you've captured it perfectly, even the frosted glass entrance. Great job.
prateek Posted September 13, 2010 You're son is very talented! I love this little diner. It blends modern with classic 50's style
DCI Gene Hunt Posted September 13, 2010 Thanks everyone, I was impressed myself when he showed me, all I did is help him with the signs and the tile floor.
Admiral Ron Posted September 13, 2010 Great restaurant! I love the tiled roof border, are you going to be making a whole town around it? I sure hope so, but Kudos to you and your son!
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2010 Now this from a 10 year old......well it's simply FANTASTIC ! A 50' retro dinner with some modern building in it as well, now I can't wait for the next one ! Vindicare Posted September 13, 2010 Wow, I'm really jealous. Your kids got a career in MOCing ahead of him it would seem.
Zorbas Posted September 13, 2010 Great work Tracey, your son is really a natural! Both the interior and exterior look beautiful, the whole desing is eye-capturing and the use of transparent bricks is a great idea. Thanks for sharing! I am also a big fan of the old road baseplate you used. I always liked it to place larger buildings along a road which works nicely as the road goes to the side. Couldn't agree more Chris. One of the great elements of the classic era.
Jeff Huntington Posted September 14, 2010 Nicely done! For those of you who have never seen or heard of a Steak N Shake, it's a pretty accurate re-creation.
XimenaPaulina Posted September 14, 2010 Very nice MOC! Especially for a young kid, that's quite an impressive build. The interiors have good amount of details, and the exterior finish is pretty neat. I love the photo shots outside, makes the setting more realistic. Pls. tell your son he did a very good job!
JimBee Posted September 14, 2010 Wow, amazing work, especially for a ten-year-old. Probably better than I could ever do. I especially like the iconic glass block doors/ windows and the tiled floor. It looks like he's got the color scheme down pat, too. Any chance of seeing him as a TFOL in a few years? Again, my compliments to your son. I'm just a little sad that the one in my area is closing...
Odyssey Posted September 14, 2010 Wow, I'm totally amazed. I couldn't have done that when I was ten (well, actually I probably still couldn't do it without some planning and trying around first...) Hm, you'll have to find ways to avoid his dark ages ;)
