80s-something Space Guy poster with Space Ship

Recommended Posts

Anyone seen this yet?

I think if he's an important enough character to have his own poster and his own ride, it should be a set. Anyone else hopeful we'll get something like this?

See? All those "sensor arrays" really were weapons! That's actually a nice looking ship. Too bad most of the poster is the character. Are the X-Wing engines available in blue? I know I don't have any, but maybe there's a Creator set with some. And that trans-yellow Sarlacc beak part looks great! I would love this as a set, but then I would need a complete revival of the theme, and not a simple one-off.

Great to see a classic space styled ship making a cameo in the film. (Here's hoping we see an official set) There have been a few builders taking a stab at creating this over on flickr:

I'd bet that if this becomes a set it would be one of the best sellers in the line. Poor guy looks like he has teeth marks on him.

A real throwback, but better.

I find it hilarious to see the bite marks, scuffed print and cracked chin guard on the classic spaceman!

Wow! This movie poster inspired me to finally register an post. I love the throw back to the classic space theme and hope to see the little ship available as a set! Would love to buy a couple so me and my 3 year old could swoosh them around the house!

There had been a lot of talk about him regarding the movie. They have shown 13 of 17 rumored sets, so it is possible it will be a summer release. I can't see why they wouldn't release something involving classic space since they hit every other lego theme.

Then I will continue to hope!

But the question is, would the minifigure be made broken in a set?

I'm guessing no, since Vetruvius' staff isn't a used lollipop stick mold... I'm thinking Lego will leave it up to us to make both of these characters "movie accurate" if we really want. :)

The real question is will it include the original helmet mold?

I have two ideas on this:

1) They could have a sort of rubberized helmet with a little tab in the chinstrap so you can "break" it if desired or have it unbroken

2) Lego NEEDS to make the old helmet with a brand new clear VISOR that fits it. That would be the coolest thing to ever happen. Actually surprised that nobody has made custom clear visors for old helmets.

Old helmets aren't hard to make "movie accurate"... I got some of them that already are

I treat my old spacemen like royalty, as they are so easy to break. No way to prevent the logo wearing away though...

The funny thing is that the helmet shown here is not the same design as the old space helmets I have (from some of the early space sets).

On my helmets the chin flows into the rest of the helmet without any ridge.

Got to love the old Space sets. I was wondering what the sets were when I got my first box of Lego from my Uncle. Might have to remake some tomorrow
