LEGO's rivals

[Minifig Lecturer]

I'm trying to make a list of all LEGO's rivals, i.e. companies who copied the lego brick.

Obviously there is Megablocks however some have come and gone and I cant remember their names.

Anyone know of others or past ones?

Tyco made a lego compatible brick in the past. Occasionally I find them mixed in with my batch lego.

In my opinion, comparing to Best Lock, Megablok, Tyco had the best brick. Of course, compared to Lego they sucked big time.

Hasbro had Built to Rule which were... :-X

and Art Asylum/Play-Along did C3 ('Create Construct Customize') Which had so-so building with cool DC Minimates.

Don't forget Blocko, who instantly rose to fame with their Bionicle lookalikes/knock-offs. Pretty well much everything they have is a rip off, even the carpenter dude on their front page. That's just the Home Depot guy with his hat logo changed and inverted! Ah, silly, silly blocko...

Shifty isn't a brand, it's the pirated Chinese products vertion of "system". The brand name is "Enlighten".

Interesting note:

I heard that the Minimates/C3 stuff was made as building blocks not necessarially to imitate Legos, but because at the time some other company had the rights to licence 'action figures' of those comic book characters, so by packing the figures with a few building block vehicles, they could label it as a 'construction toy' and get around legal issues.

Was at the local store today, and they had something called "Bricks". They were kind of large building blocks, a bit larger than LEGO bricks. >:-(

What's wrong with made in china?! It would be better if lego was made in china.
