HI, this is my second online moc (EVER) and my first Pirate MOC (EVER) Also my second contest entry (EVER). I only bought one pirate set as a kid before this, so here... we... go!

Also, I need to establish what is happening.

A long time ago (300 years), in a carribean sea quite far away(from Canada)...

EDIT CGH: please resize your images to a maximum of 800 x 600 pixels.

And is it neccesary to put a smiley behind every sentence?

While escaping the small tropical island of Tattoovine( :pir_laugh2: ), Cerf Luke and his new Master, Orbival( :pir_laugh2: ), last knight of the Ancient Kingdom, with them in tow Artius( :pir_laugh2: ), small mute child carrying an endangered princess' message and Cius( :pir_laugh2: ), crippled servant, climb the docks of Mossy Isley( :pir_laugh2: )to escape from pursuing Imperial Troopers aboard the small yacht Centennial Robin( :pir_laugh2: ), helmed by the tenacious Capitain Hans ( :pir_laugh2: ) and his counterpart, Chewbas( :pir_laugh2: ).

Pic of dock with Orbival, Luke, and two imperial soldiers in pursuit. the boat shows Cius and Artius boarding and Chewbas loading

An interesting concept. However, not very well executed. The Centennial Robin is evocative of the Millennium Falcon, but it it is nowhere near a realistic design or, for that matter, a very... sleek design. Two large prong-y things might inhibit speed.

However, there are some things I like. The idea of Artoo being turned into a mute child is a very interesting, though I wouldn't nessecerially call Artoo mute. However, a different language speaker might be more feasible. Maybe turning him into a islander of sorts?

My last gripe is that the imperials are wearing castle helmets.

This is a creative entry, but it could use some work.

Here are a few pointers.

1) You should resize your images, as the contest rules state that the pictures need to be at the most 800 x 600 pixels. The rules also say that there should be a maximum of 6 pictures per entry. You can find a resizing tutorial here

2) I like the SNOT water, but feel it would look better if the pieces weren't placed as unevenly as they are right now. I think a little randomness is nice, but not too much.

3) On your Centennial Falcon (which is a really nice pun by the way :pir-tongue: ), I feel that some of the pieces are placed a bit sporadically.

You could perhaps try to smooth it out a bit with some slopes or tiles, and not having so many parts jut out from the sides.

I actually quite like your use of the white slope for the sail, especially since you don't have an alternative. It's very creative.

4)I would replace the Imperial's helmets with a more piratey hat, such as a shako, bicorn or tricorn.

However, I certainly like your dock, as it has a really good smooth, yet uneven look to it.

I think with a few improvements, you can make this a great entry! :pir-classic:

I agree with Erdbeeris1 that you need some major improvements to your pics.A good start would be to resize them! :pir_laugh2:

And there is no choice in the matter, Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! please refer to the following rule:

You may present up to 6 pictures per entry. In accordance with Eurobricks guidelines the maximum picture size is 800x600 pixels . Entries with bigger pictures will not be accepted. If you need help resizing or displaying images then review the tutorials here. You may link to an external gallery with more pictures, however.

Another recommendation is to severely cut down on the number of smileys you're using. A couple is fine, but using many smileys is usually an indication the author is not mature enough for Eurobricks. So bare that in mind next time you feel compelled to go overboard with the smileys.

My opinion:

Indeed, my fellow members are right: this is not entirely what the Pillage the Village contest is about.

Referring to Star Wars in your MOC is one thing, but other things, like real cruelty, lack as well.

I suggest you rethink part of your concept.

Your building skills are good, that I can see. Do you have few "real" piratebricks? Then might I suggest you take a look at Guss' MOC, he has found some inventive and original ways to deal with a Pirate brick shortage.

Possible improvements:

1) Are you certain you would place this entry in the medium area? You shouldn't pass 16 dots in ANY direction, at least that is what I understood. If I were you, I would check it with the rules and Mr. Phess.

2) Don't copie a Star Wars episode and then just build it the Pirate way, I think you can addopt some "clue's" (like title and names), but this is clearly too much. I'd loose the Millenium-Falcon lookalike boat first and would replace it with a sloop.

3) Don't you have any pirate hats for your Imperial Soldiers? I mean bicornes, tricornes, shako's,...

IMHO even a normal hairpiece would be better then medieval helmets.

4) Loose some smilies and resize your pics. Follow the rules, it would be a pity to get disqualified for something little.

5) I would make a square "base", instead of a random one, or like Erdbeereis suggests: make it a little less random.

Overall this is a good starter's MOC, if you could make some of the improvements suggested by the members it would look cooler and more beautiful. Have fun in the contest !

My Opinion

This is an interesting MOC. I have not seen a mix in genres yet in the entries. I see you have 3 star wars, a rock raider, a knight, 2 armada guards and only 1 pirate? The contest is to have pirates doing their thing, like killing, looting, or being mean in general. I think have the wrong idea or you are just short on pirate bricks. There are some things in your MOC that I like. The dock is cool with the loose planks of wood and the island. The water is nice. The boat is a nice addition. I especially like how you used your head to make a sail, since you had no sails. Nice thinking and creativity.

Improvements if you choose

1) In your description, you used names like "Mossy Isley", trying to recreative a star wars scene in a sort of piraty theme. Again, a pirate contest, not star wars.

2) I only see 1 pirate in this whole contest entry when the contest is for pirates. Also, you put knight helmets on armada guards intead of their normal hats.

3) I would follow the rules so I would not get kicked out of the contest. That would be a shame. Since this is a medium contest entry, the max should be 16x16. But I can't tell since your model is not square and has no given shape.

4) Add some more pirates since this is a pirate contest.

5) In your description, I would not use so much smiley faces.

Overall- If you also listen to some of the other members that have suggested ideas, it could possibly be a better contest entry. Anyway, great second MOC and I wish you the best of luck!

I was considering ripping this off the PTV contest and I probably will. I have made a redo and (Too bad for Zorro!) made the skipper look more like the Falcon. i also got rid of Castle helmets and made the cannon better. I will post pics soon.

I hope you enjoy this not as a PTV, but as a reimagination of starwars and a different look at Pirates.

We certainly have, and I don't think it was bad at all, just maybe a bit too Star Wars-sy for a pirate contest...

I do like your MOC, and if my words sometimes seem "heavy", it is primarely because my English is limited to a certain vocabulary... Sorry if it did, it was not my intention. I hope you will stay in the contest, with this MOC, a revised MOC or another MOC.

Problem here - This would probably be disqualified. It says in the rules that it needs to be set in 1700 - 1800. I think it is an interesting idea, but I think your efforts are in vein and I would like to see something that will go well in the competition.

Good luck! :pir-classic:

EDIT: And that's 12 photos. :pir_laugh2:

Oh my...this is a disaster...it needs to be improved badly...sorry for being so rough it is just really bad, but I can help you make it better. I think that adding humour to your entry wasn't a good idea. It's good, but it is supposed to be gruesome! Make a story or something, like I did with my Large entry!

Minifigs: The minifigs are..well..ok since you don't have any Pirate minifigs(except for one), I presume, they aren't mean enough! Give them some evil faces! I want to see some better weapons and a better crew! The soldiers are ok, but they need to have different helmets because they don't fit into the time period.

Scenery: The scenary is ok, but the trees could be improved. The dock looks really bad and it doesn't seem long enough. The ocean takes on an odd shape, but I guess the boat needs to be able to fit into the water.

Boat: The boat is very bad, IMHO. It really needs to be redone! The sail is very crappy and you can visit the tutorial to make sails. The boat itself is uneven and the handle for the ship is horrible. Sorry to be mean, but I am just trying to help you. You could make your own handle by using brown pieces.

In Conclusion, the ship needs to be redone completely, you should get rid of the soldiers helmets, the torso for some of the Pirates should be changed to more appropriate torsos for the specific time period, the sail for the boat needs to be changed, the dock could be made better, there should be more sceneray, and the handle for the boat is horrible. I recommend you fix it. I will wait for the new pictures to see what you have done better.

Why, how I love your semi-positive, constructive critisism. :pir-hmpf:

still, I agree about the ship. second of all, Lego12 (aka Gore Master), I'm sorry I had no disembowelment to cheer you up. Also, it's supposed to be a very small yacht/ skipper. I admit I had some severe design flaws and even some downright stupid ideas and I thank you for making me see them better. My redo may not be perfect, but considering I feel the dock was supposed to convey the feeling of a small, rundown fishing boat dock, not a harbor, I feel I did okay. I wasn't clear about the concept of PTV which also messed it up. Lastly, I decided to expand the dock (slightly) to conpensate for this loss.

Whew, cooled the steam. :pir-grin:

Also Lego12, loved that Large entry. Made my day! :pir-classic:

@Zorro, I understand. Me Polish immigrant. :pir-grin:

Also I will post pics of my new sea wars moc, La cantina

Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! Just to re-iterate, until those images are reduced this entry is invalid.... and too big for the site guidelines too.
