This is my first MOC shared in this forum. Hope that I can hear your feedback and comments:

(I've inserted a small LED inside the chandelier to make it light, what do you think?)

I know it's a rather simple MOC. Hope that I can build something more complex later.

Thanks to the opinions and comments from EB members. I've adjusted the chandelier, making it shorter and wider.

I hope the scale is better now. But even if it is not okay, just let me know. I can rebuild it...that's the beautiful part of Lego, right? :sweet:

Apart from adjusting the chandelier, I've also taken the advice about the basement - two coffins have been taken away; only the one for the vampire is left.

And I've made a stone base for the coffin to make it look better (I hope):

A new vig - The wizards are looking for the vampire but they can't find him!

Excellent vig there 'gordongordon' - I really like the chandelier and the basement sleeping area for daytime naps !

Great work and I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

There's much to like about this! Great idea for the chandelier, but it looks a tiny bit cluttered. If you could remove some bits it might look better, but it's very good anyway. The crypt underneath is pretty cool too, and a nice touch with the ghost hiding in there! I like the assortment of creepy-crawlies but my #1 favourite part of your construction is the table! Fantastic.

The vampire fig looks cool too, I hope to get one myself.

Really nice Gordongordon. The knights on the wall are an interesting addition. The crossed swords look good. However may I suggest you remove one of the coffins, it looks a bit crowded.

Except for that it looks great :classic:

Well first of all, welcome to the forums, Gordongordon, and a very nice start on the MOC.

You've done a fantastic job building a creepy scene, and there are several very neat details. The chandelier, for starters, gives a feeling of ancient splendor to the vignette. And boy, that skeleton table gives a perfect touch of horror and creativity to the upstairs scene. Nice use of space too, placing them at an angle like that.

As for the basement, I actually like the three coffins as you've placed them, but I do see how they look crowded in there from the zoomed-out image of the entire MOC. What do you think about expanding the vignette a little more?

Finally, nice touch with the ghost :classic:. As you might see from my avatar, I'm a big fan of him .

Thank you, lightningtiger.

The chandelier took me quite awhile to build!! :classic:

The chandelier is big and a bit strange, I like it. The whole scene is detailed and well made.

Thank you, Nikola Bathory.

You think the chandelier is strange but still like it...very interesting indeed.

Do you think I should reduce its size?

Thank you, Artanis I.

Glad you like my chandelier. But do you think it's the size or the design that should be improved? I mean should I simply make it smaller or change/rearrange some of its details?

Also I'm happy that you like the table and the hidden ghost :sweet:

Thank you, Burman.

Your comment about the arrangement of coffins is very right. It looks a bit crowded now.

************************************************************

But you may want to know...there is a reason behind these three coffins.

As the title of my post suggests: this is the house of a vampire. So why are there three coffins?

The other two coffins belong to someone else of course. And, my original design is - they belong to a mummy and a pharaoh.

And so the next question is "Why the vampire is living with a mummy and a pharaoh?"

The answer: Because they are good friends and they play Chinese mahjong from time to time. It will be more convenient if they are living close to each other.

Since I think not many Eurobricks members are interested in Chinese mahjong, I've cut this part of my MOC.

My pleasure to share the "unseen" part of my design:

The three good friends - vampire, mummy & pharaoh like playing Chinese mahjong

IMG_7002.jpg4919163003_821f8745c8_m.jpg

But they often need one more player

IMG_7013.jpg

That's why I've been invited (hope that they won't kill me if they lose the game  )

~ Thank you ~

Thank you, Blackicep8ntball.

Thanks for giving me comments from different perspectives. Your encouragement is important to a newbie like me.

As pointed out by Burman, the basement looks a bit crowded. The vig is 16x16 because this MOC was built for a local Lego group gathering; all castle vigs were restricted to 16x16.

The MOC presented here is actually modified. The orignial design for the gathering is shown below:

The Chinese characters shown on the right side of the picture read:

The son is missing!!

The son of Duke Gordon is found missing! Although people have been sent out for searching, they still have no clue where the duke's son is.

The duke's wife has arranged a clown show to make the duke happy. But the duke worries about his son and does not enjoy the show at all.

Can the duke find his son back?

Hmmm... I think maybe if you tried to use the same amount of pieces but spread it out a little bit wider? There doesn't seem to be enough space between pieces, and it also looks too long for how wide it is. Stretch it out a little wider and I think it'll look even better, and more realistic! Thanks for listening!

I'm so happy that I can have the opinions from Lego experts and fans.

I've taken your advice and adjusted the chandelier.

And some more pictures have been added, enjoy!!

Wow nice - I like the lighting effect! Yeah I think you've made an improvement with the chandelier, gordongordon, and it's really nice to see you take your MOC and implement changes :classic:. It seems pretty rare that we see people work to improve their MOC; they usually just move onto the next one (I know I'm guilty!). Nice job.

I like the changes you've made here again, even though the previous version was great too. The fire spinning wizard looks awesome!

I think I preferred the original chandelier, myself, but either way it's great, and this is a fantastic creation. I love the spiral of flame surrounding the wizard.

I hope to have a MOC along these thematic lines ready in time for Halloween, myself, but I'm doubtful I'll make it. We'll see! In the meantime, that is really fine work.

I envy you your selection of creepy / scary elements (the multiple coffins / sarcophagi, the new vampire, the old Adventurers mummy, etc.). I do at least have just enough minifigs, accessories, etc. from along those lines (I have all four sets from the "horror" Studios subtheme, four of the new zombie, a few witchcrafty elements from Harry Potter sets, skeletons aplenty from all sorts of sets, etc.) that I think I have most of the stuff I need (I could still use some light bricks), but time and effort are another matter...
