The Crimson Tyrant

Recommended Posts

Recently I have been working on a pirate MOC. I only have blue and white hull pieces, which aren't very good for a pirate ship. I decided I would make a brick-built hull, and it would be red and black seeing that is those colours are the majority of the bricks I have. So far it has a crew of 5, I am hoping to make some more customs for more pirate minifigs. I couldn't fit a pic of the whole ship in, so there will be numerous pics. I hardly have any pirate pieces, so I will have to use brick built cannons and custom sails. First, here is one of the cannons.

Here is the poop deck, the one with the steering wheel.

Here is a pic of the anchor.

Here is a pic of some of the deck.

Here is a pic of the hole they climb out of.

Here is a pic of inside the hull, and the shipmates working the cannons.

Here is a pic of one side of the hull.

And then the other.

And finally, here is a pic of the crew so far.

Remember, this is a WIP thread, so check for updates. And if anyone has a better idea for the name, please say!

That's not bad Mr Attack! Could you also post a picture of the complete ship please?

There are some things that look very strange to me though.

1. the poop deck with the wheel is on the bow of this ship... As far as I'm aware, it's normally on the stern...

2. the anchor is winded around a mast.

3. the cannon is a wheel...

Well, nice looking so far!

Yarrgh, I don't know that much about pirate ships...

EDIT: Okay, I have just moved the wheel.

I am going to make a post at the side of the ship which the anchor will wind around.

And I only have one cannon, so I made some custom ones.

3. the cannon is a wheel...

No, the wheel is the barrel of a custom cannon - lets emphasise "custom" there.

Some resourceful building you've employed Mr Attack!

Yarrgh, I don't know that much about pirate ships...

Don't worry about that lad, we'll soon educate you!

I'm presuming this is your first pirate ship MOC? And if so, I'd say its a fine first effort. AAAAAARGH!!!

I have made some small pirate ships, but this is my first big one.

Do you happen to have any pictures of those?? Or were they destroyed before you could take any pictures?

Very nice and interesting. And those cannons.... not so bad, in fact they are really innovative and original.

Arrr, exo attack entered upon the Pirate Board.... *sweet*

Cool ship name, BTW.

That looks alot different then I expected! Too bad about the pic quality... Looks good Mr Attack, but may I suggest you something?

Move the main mast a bit backwards and extend the foremast abit (say 2 bricks shorter than the mainmast).

Good, an overall model picture. Looks pretty decent, I like the curves on the bow, and they would be even better with some more slope bricks. The cannons are a good use of available pieces, but I would use the smooth tires. And the name is not that shabby either....

Are you going to add a stern castle to make it seem more like a 16/17th century ship, or will you leave it more of less how it is now, as a 19th century ship? And the captain's peg leg, it that a technic bushing?

Final verdict: Keep up the great work, matey! *y*

Although that avatar is kind of bothering me.......

Mr Attack, how come the picture quality is bad??

As long as we can see something it is okay, so can you also post pictures of the stern?(cabin please)

Sorry if I'm annoying but pics say more then thousand words!! :-P

I will take pics soon, as the cabin is a WIP part. And yes, the captains pegleg is a technic bushing.

Thanks, I'll look forward to those pictures. But how did you attach the bushing to the hips?

I squeezed it a bit, then I attached the space to the little pin on the side of the hip. I have finished the cabin, although the window are not in the right parts. If I had put them into the right, parts, I would have to deconstruct the whole of the bottom front hull.

Not a bad start! You seem like a fast learner Mr. exo attack.

Having to work with the bricks you have fill force you to find some creative solutions.

...I am hoping to make some more customs for more pirate minifigs.

I suggest you have a look at the The great pirate torso LIBRARY is you want some custom pirates.

Hey phred, you might want to put the cannon I made in the custom cannon index.

Already done mate ;-)

did it right after i did that post on this thread.

Link to the cannon index

It's the last thumbnail X-D

It's a very inovative design with seemingly limited bricks for a cannon.
