Captain Golden Hook Posted June 2, 2014 163A I just finished this ship. Hope you guys like it! image by captaingoldenhook, on Flickr image by captaingoldenhook, on Flickr image by captaingoldenhook, on Flickr Mind the triple guns!
Kolonialbeamter Posted June 2, 2014 I like it. Especially the arches at the stern, nice Hope I'm not mistaken to see Sebeus' broadside technique? If so, it shows once more that it is a well working solution on ships like yours. However, taking pictures of a red ship on a red carpet... might not have been the best choice ... and I'm afraid your steroid-loaded triple guns could damage the figure head once firing viciously. But maybe that's only due to perspective in the pictures. Anyway, good work! Keep it up!
Captain Braunsfeld Posted June 2, 2014 Hey, you've used custom rigging. Hats off to you! Mind the triple guns! Ah, triple guns! Very "Pirates of the Carribean" Good Job!
kabel Posted June 2, 2014 I'd say the bow needs a little work, but other than that I really like it!
Mr. Townsend Posted June 3, 2014 Looks great Captain Golden Hook! Red Beard's Runner is my favorite of the classics and I love seeing remakes of it. You did an excellent job staying true to the classic running two masts and the red hull. I also think that you did an excellent job with your string rigging. You've picked a good string type for the project. I really like the round stern but I think it flows better when the back wall is wider then the hull rather then the end of the hull being around the stern. That way you don't have the gaps around your lovely roundness. I think this ship deserves some headrails but whatever the case you've built a quality ship. Keep pushing them out this quickly and you'll be able to contest Sebeus' rather sizable fleet.
Sebeus I Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) ...On steroids? Nicely done, she looks low and maneuverable. I agree with Mr. Townsend, if you place the stern one stud further and widen it with two studs it would nicely cover the gaps from the broadsides. By the way, how long did it take you to build this ship? I thought you were occupied with your frigate WIP. Keep pushing them out this quickly and you'll be able to contest Sebeus' rather sizable fleet. Indeed...can't let that happen, time to work . Captain Golden Hook Posted June 3, 2014 @ kabel: I don't have any hinge plates left @ sebeus: the frigate vendetta is done, I am waiting for someone to close my WIP topic for the frigate before I post the final pictures, I don't want to crowd the forum with a million topics from me. And I haven't made sails yet.... But I am to lazy to make them in the near future. @ mr Townsend: I know what you mean with the stern, but I wanted to continue the tilt all the way to the back and not use slope plates. I tried and failed to close it up to well
