What kind of suspension does an Ohskosh PLS truck use?

Recommended Posts

So, I'm kind of trying to make an Oshkosh PLS truck, and I've run into trouble with the suspension. I just can't figure out how it works. One of the brochures I've found seems to indicate that it uses walking beam axle (pendular) suspension, but in the same brochure it says the truck has a double cardon joint steering axle, which would indicate that it has independent suspension. I, however, think that the truck uses live axles, judging by the pictures I've seen. Can anybody clear this up?

The older PLS had solid axles, but the newer ones have the independent suspension that cgarison mentioned on the front two axles. The rear two (or three) axles are still solid. I get the impression that the independent front axles are standard, but they may optional....not sure on that.

I used to work on an Army base, and the PLS is an impressive machine.
