Captain Settle Posted January 19, 2016 I've recently been considering making a Star Wars comic based on the events post Episode VII, although they'd be preposterous events that 100% won't happen in Episode VIII. Anyway, I was wondering how long Episode VII must be out for until writing about its events isn't considered a spoiler. No one cares when people write about Darth Vader being Luke's father, and that's a far bigger event than any in the new movie. I could put a warning of spoilers at the start of the comic, although I'm not sure how effective that would be. Also, I'm awful at thinking up comic names, so if anyone has an idea for the name of a Star Wars based LEGO comic, I'd love to hear it.
Darkdragon Posted January 19, 2016 It takes years before something can be considered unspoilerable If you want to put up a comic that has spoilers or even potential spoilers in it, put the comic inside of spoiler tag and state clearly that the comic contains spoilers. Graham Gidman Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) A good question, one I've been asking myself as well. Yesterday was exactly one month since it came out, so I think you should be fine (maybe add a spoiler tag or a warning, like Darkdragon said). If someone doesn't want to know any secrets, they're probably going to have to stay off of all media till they've seen it. LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 19, 2016 One of my friends who does a bit of stand up brought Star Wars into his set over the weekend. He said, "before I end tonight, I'm going to talk about the new Star Wars movie... So, there are spoilers, but it's been out for a month, so you've had enough time to f*****g see it!". While I thought it was funny the way he said it, he did make a good point. However, I would agree with Dragon on making a note of content
Immo Posted January 19, 2016 "(...) So, there are spoilers, but it's been out for a month, so you've had enough time to f*****g see it!" Precisely. If someone considers him/herself a fan enough to suffer a rage attack after a spoiler, he should have seen the topic in the first week. The exception, of course, are ill or otherwise unable to go. But after 3 weeks I think the spoilee gets what he/she deserved.
Captain Settle Posted January 19, 2016 Yeah, I thought that most fans would have seen it by now, but I might start my comic off with this: So that if anyone does see spoilers and doesn't want to, the blame is 100% on them.
MrHerofan Posted January 19, 2016 Well to me if it's a movie you have to at least wait a month because there are people who are busy and don't have the time to sacrifice on a movie right away. Although since this is Star Wars if people still haven't seen it then it's their own problem that they have been spoiled. It has been a month, the holiday's happened, like they've had time. Maybe in some way make note of it containing spoilers, but not have it take up half of the paper.
Captain Settle Posted January 19, 2016 MrHerofan, so you think I should have it more like this? I agree that it does look better having the title as the focus, but still warning about the spoilers.
