THE ADVENTURES

OF THE

LEGOLAND PIRATES

OF THE SEA

FORBIDDEN ISLAND

Sometime during the 18th century, a

peaceful colony of settlers enjoying the island

treasures they discovered, suddenly had their

serenity interrupted. The invaders were those

who called themselves the LEGOLAND Pirates

of the Sea! For years, the Pirates had been

searching for the same buried treasures that the

settlers were now claiming as their own. This, of

course, disturbed the Pirates as they knew the

doubloons (Spanish gold coins) the settlers found

had belonged to their ancestors.

Forbidden Island was named by the

settlers because to them it was forbidden. It was

the island where only Pirates could live.

It was there that Captain Red Beard and the

other buccanneers made plans to "steal" the gold

from the settlers. Little did the Pirates know,

however, that the settlers had Governor Broadside

guarding the gold and that they would have to

deal with him first if they wanted it.

The Governor lived for the day he would

have to defend the Eldorado Fortress and the

gold. What he did not know was that the day of

confrontation would be coming soon...

for the same buried treasures that the settlers

disturbed the Pirates, as they knew the doubloons

(Spanish gold coins) the settlers found had

belonged to their ancestors.

Many years ago, a wealthy king

summoned the best shipbuilders to design and

build what is known as the Imperial Flagship.

He called to duty the finest Soldiers to guide his

ship on a journey across miles of ocean. Their

mission was to retrieve millions of dollars worth

of treasure he had hidden on a deserted island.

The Soldiers, thinking this an easy task, were

not prepared for what was ahead of them.

Spotting the royal ship leaving the deserted

island, the Pirates knew instantly what the

Soldiers were carrying aboard the ship. Will the

Soldiers be able to protect the king's royal

treasure from the Pirates?

On a remote rocky island, Captain Red

Beard and his crew of Pirates established the

ultimate command post. Called the Rock Island

Refuge, it was the perfect haven for the entire

crew of the Black Seas Barracuda. From this

outpost, Captain Red Beard commanded the

efforts of the other buccaneers at the Forbidden

Island and Shipwreck Island enclaves.

The day was drawing near when the

treasure chest full of doubloons would once

again belong to the Pirates. Before that day

could arrive, however, Governor Broadside and

the other settlers would have to be overcome.

The gold the settlers found on a neigh-

boring island needed to be transported back to

their Fortress so that it could be kept hidden

from the Pirates.

The crew aboard the Caribbean Clipper

was called to action. Their task was to return the

gold safely to the Eldorado Fortress at whatever

cost. Once they reached the Fortress, Governor

Broadside would take over and find a safe place

to hide the gold.

The crew was a group of very proud men.

They would not let anything or anyone come

between them and the gold. The Pirates, however,

had other plans...

OF THE SEA

LAGOON LOCK-UP

During the 18th century, a peaceful colony of settlers enjoying the island treasures they discovered, suddenly had their serenity interrupted. The invaders were those who called themselves the LEGO Pirates of the Sea! For years, the Pirates had been searching for the same buried treasures that the settlers were now claiming as their own. This, of course, disturbed the Pirates, as they knew the doubloons (Spanish gold coins) the settlers found had belonged to their ancestors.

Gold seeking pirates had become such a problem for Governor Broadside and the other settlers that they were forced to strengthen many of their existing settlements. One such fortification was the Lagoon Lock-Up. Prior to the invading Pirates, this peaceful establishment was an inn of sorts for the settlers to grab a bite to eat and relax. It has now been fortified to protect the lagoon and to hold captured Pirates for questioning.

Governor Broadside is determined to protect the gold which he and the settlers have hidden at the Eldorado Fortress and Sabre Island. The Pirates, however, have their own plans for the gold and they don't include sharing it with the settlers!

Great work! Finally these stories are told! :-)

I have the Black Seas Barracuda box with the story, but unfortunately that one is far away from me, but I'll be reunited with it soon!

Well it looks like all of the sets depict the Pirates as heroes and the soldiers as thieves. I thought that the different boxes might present two sides of the story (ie make the soldiers look good on their own sets), however it looks as if the settlers are bad to the core, stealing the gold of those poor misunderstood pirates.

Kind of a funny twist that allows kids to cheer on the pirates without actually cheering for the badguys. I like how the Pirates are only trying to steal back gold that was wrongfully appropriated from their ancestors.

What drug are you on. The pirates plan to steal the gold from the settlers treasure. This treasure belong ed to their ancestors. How are the pirates good.

It says in the Eldorado Fortress Story...

"For years, the Pirates had been searching for the same buried treasure that the settlers were now claiming as their own. This, of course, disturbed the Pirates as they knew the doubloons (Spanish gold coins) the settlers found had belonged to their ancestors.

I think what it's trying it say is the treasure belong to the pirates' ancestors.

So Captain Kaboom, if someone "claimed" something that once belonged to your great great great granny would you not want to claim it back?

Exactly right. In effect, LEGO was trying to create a story where everyone was technically innocent, from their own point of view. The Pirates are only chasing the gold because they feel it rightly belongs to them. The Imperials are simply doing their job by protecting it. The settlers found it, and therefore believe it's theirs.

Personally, I choose to blame the settlers. First of all, where did they imagine that coins came from, the local native population? Of course not. Second, since LEGO never bothered making any settler minifigs, they're easier to blame. :-P

The real point is, we get to decide without having to feel pressured by the story. That's a great improvement over the stories they've used in more recent years for themes like Mars Mission or Castle, where you have clearly defined good and bad guys, with no room for imagination.

I had always thought that the Pirate's ancestors/antecedents had been Pirates themselves, and had originally stolen the doubloons from the Spanish. This was one of the reasons I was excited when LEGO released the Imperial Armada sets (all two of them...)

This backstory does explain the abundance of treasure maps in the Pirate theme, yes?

Finally we get to see these stories! You lads are doing a terrific job typing them up. This content will greatly enhance the set profiles on Classic-Pirates.com.

Perhaps one day it would be awesome if we could get some pictures of the story as well. Not that they're exciting to look at but it would offer the a better experience to those who don't have the box.

But for now just sourcing the stories is brilliant *y*

Another big update thanks to natelite! *y*

I'm not sure how many are really left, as I don't know how long they continued doing these.

I'm also looking for the international versions. I can do a decent job of copying what I see, if I can see the picture well enough. I couldn't manage the non-English stories for 6280 without risking missing out on various accent marks. If anyone else is more familiar with them and could type those up, it would be great.

Keep those stories and pictures coming, assuming there are very many left.

Thanks for all the help! *sweet*
