MikroMan Posted July 1, 2014 Today, I'm presenting a 24x12 studs space vignette titled Spaceship Prison Block Nr. 3. It started out mainly as an exercise in building a wall at an angle and incorporating some curved pieces. It depicts a guard patrolling part of a spaceship's prison block, where one of the Galactic Intelligence Agency's spies is currently incarcerated. Bob De Quatre Posted July 1, 2014 Nice prison block. The only things I could critique are the visible studs on top of the cells, and the fact that the prosoner is bald but has sideburns
freakwave Posted July 1, 2014 Looks very nice! On the contrary to Bob, I have no problems with the facial hair problem, there are many examples.... My only complaint as a prisoner would be that the cells have very little room, so there is more room for remorse :-)
MikroMan Posted July 1, 2014 Nice prison block. The only things I could critique are the visible studs on top of the cells, and the fact that the prosoner is bald but has sideburns Thanks for the opinion, I also prefer going full studless, but in this case, I actually ran out ot dark bluish grey tiles, because most of my LEGO is not at my flat (space constraints). And yeah, I don't really own that many minifig parts, so I make do with what I have . Looks very nice! On the contrary to Bob, I have no problems with the facial hair problem, there are many examples.... My only complaint as a prisoner would be that the cells have very little room, so there is more room for remorse :-) Thanks! The initial cell structure was actually 7 studs deep, but I decided to shorten it, mainly because angled wall became a problem for the cell roof (shows I have quite a lot to learn regarding building techniques...). If I did a larger cell, I'd probably combine both cell into a large one and add some creature comforts. Let's just imagine that the prisoner is held in some kind of stasis. Balthazar Posted July 1, 2014 Amazing build with lots of interesting design solutions. I like minifigures too :)
Lady K Posted July 1, 2014 Looks great! Nice detail. I agree with combining both cells into one to make it slightly larger.
Yzalirk Posted July 1, 2014 This looks awesome! I especially like the look of the Cyborg.
TheLegoDr Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Behemoth - The cyborg is this, fyi. I do like the overall idea. The cell looks good. It does come off as he is in some sort of stasis, so you wouldn't need a lot of room. One would think that would be the ideal prison -- less risk of escape, less space required to house prisoners, etc. However, I'd almost think the Blacktron villain should be in there, instead of out. With that said, I'd switch the blue to lime to match Blacktron II colors, since he is the guard outside patrolling. But that's just me. The shaping works well though. I've been getting into my space sets again, so I may want to expand upon this and build something of my own. Obviously in Blacktron II colors since that is my go-to theme. Well, since the usual theme is good guys catching bad guys, I decided to switch the whole thing around for a change Also, I actually wanted to do something with trans blue first, because I picked up a lot of it, but it didn't stand out well enough against dark bluish gray. I may eventually try doing something in lime, though I'm too young to actually own Blacktrons. You may be right though, the color scheme would work better with the cyborg inside. TenorPenny Posted July 4, 2014 I don't mind a little studs-on-top action. It adds a little of an industrial feel.
