The Pallada

Recommended Posts

In an effort to do some more original ships.

Well this is the Russian military training ship called the Pallada but of course that is the translation of her name. Anyways here is a picture of the real ship.

And here is the hull that i have so far designed for the ship and yes it is a brickbuilt hull and good freakin lord did it take along time to figure the angles out and yes i realize its not quite accurate and the staggering of the white and black is to give the illusion of the ship being curved down.

Now yes i do realize that you cant get the masts in that color but seeing as i cant afford to build all these ships im designing i dont think it matter the only difference right now between my creations and your guys is that mine arent real....yet but they do conform to the rules of gravity and the lego universe they are struturally sound....except this one....for the moment. Plus i still have to figure a way to make the bricks form what i want and that takes just as much work in MLCAD as in real life....if not more (stupid program). Anywho tada.

OOOH BTW this ship will feature custom masts not sure hwo but keep an eye on the thread for updates.

In retrospect i am going to redesign the stern to square it off at the white section as this is how the real ship looks.

That is a great hull, you must be very experienced witht MLCAD I can't create anything but junk with that program, I see there are ''holes'' in the hull what look like they are supposed to be gun ports, I don't think this ships has guns and I also don't think those are holes in real, or is it your purpose to do it like that??

How long have you been using Mclad Admiral Starwind? I've only used it a little and it takes me ages to do simple things because I need to find where everything is. However, last time I used it I was suffering with a 15" monitor so I didn't have much workspace but now I've got a 20.1" widescreen monitor I have room to move.

The holes on the side of the ship are infact gun ports. I decided to modify this ship and make her 1800's worthy i'm also stripping down her top deck and making it more antique.

i have been using MLCad since i first joing eurobricks and that was my first experience with it. As for my monitor i'm running a CRT 17" display.

More precisely whats your resolution as that determines how much workspace you have on screen? The Windows default is 1024 x 768 pixels for 17" as far as I'm aware.

Well due to the fact that I didn't have 3 decks to contend with this ship took me alot less time as well as I opted for no gun ports and just to have the guns always ran out.

Anyways here is the ship in dock with the sails unfurled.

And my version now I do realize that mine is rather sparse but I can't do details like long boats or things like that in MLCAD.

Edit

Can't believe i almost forgot the stern seeing as i redesigned it.

That is very immpressing admiral, I think this is the best ship from your digital yards, Maybe it would do good as an LEGO collecter set or something, like the constitiution, very good job!

1024x768 is my resolution yes i used to operate at 1290x960 but then my moniotr went BOOM

Damn man! The poor thing could handle it!

But you're doing quite a good job for a 1024x768 resolution. I suppose Mclad isn't too bad compared to some programs like Flash or Premiere in terms of toolbar and palettes cluttering up the workspace.

What's the name of the ship in the photographic images? I can't read the writing on the stern!

And what does Pallada mean? Is it just a name or is it a word in another language? Although names are usually words no longer used anyway!

Said Pallada the Meteoro (that is the Arrogant one) lived between the end of IV the century and the beginning of V the century to Alexandria of Egypt. It is known also with the name of Pallada of Alexandria. He was grammarian (master of school) and epigrammista of pagana faith. Of he they have reached approximately 150 epigrammi conserved from the Anthology Tippet.

This was in Italian which i translated but the ship is Russian so i'm not sure if this is correct.

This is the inspiration for my next creation.

The colour scheme of that ship, I think it would look bad with cannons. But I think it would look great with this ship, It is called the Belem, a French ship and I like her very much, I bought a model of it in Spain it is cool ship!
