Having recovered from the shocking encounter with the she-man, the rogues decided to check the Stone Garden.

There was nothing there but a solitary orc sleeping off his drunkedness.

"Zzz... Dmn you, Prvost Lectr... Dmn you to hll... Zzz..." the orc muttered in his sleep.

"Hmm? He may have some information, Kid, why don't you handle this, me and casanova here handled the earlier stuff."

Dak walks over to the sleeping orc, and shakes his shoulders, attempting to wake him up. If that fails, Dak uses his Smelling Salts on the drunk orc.

"Zzz... Huh? Wha? Whaddaya want? If you gonna mug me, then be quick 'bout it..."

The orc then slumps back against the obelisk, peering into his bottle to see if there's anything in it.

Guts chimes in from further back, leaning against a large rock, he is seemingly inspecting his weapon, which deflects the little light the moon gives off, casting an odd shine on the rogue's covered head. The rogue speaks:

"Relax, fool. We are from Heroica, not common robbers. As you can probably guess, we want information. If you can provide us with such information, and I like what I hear, there might be some gold in it for you."

With a cold grin behind his headwraps, and an even colder tone in his voice, Guts adds:

"Enough for a bottle of something better than what you were drinking before you passed out here."

Guts sheaths his weapon and walks up to the orc. He stands there for a second, and then delivers a swift kick in the orc's stomach.

The rogue's awnsers:

"No wonder you don't have any of those things, look at yourself. You are a disgrace for the once proud orcs. If you want your life to take turn for the better, I suggest you work for it, there is nothing falling from the sky to help you out. Now, you are going to awnser my questions, got it?

The kick makes the orc stir from his sleep and even sober up a bit.

"Hey! Don't go around kickin' innoshent people!" the orc slurs. "You haven't even ashked me nuthing... Sheesh..."

The party has got the orc's attention.

"I need to know what you know about Count Shadeaux, you should have seen him in the park, if this is where you often are. Also, I would like to know if you know of any dealings in... Illegal substances, drugs, in this park."

"Shure, I know the guy... Comes here ev'ry night. Always walks in a different part of the park, never in the same place two nights in a row... And I don't do drugs... This bottle is a good enough friend. Let us drink to that!"

The orc gulps down the rest of the contents of his bottle, and falls back to sleep.

The first light of the morning makes the stars in the sky disappear one by one.

"Hmpf."

Guts counts out 5 golden coins, and lays them under the sleeping orc's arm, so he would find them when he woke up. Turning to the party, Guts said:

"I see nothing else to do but go back to the Guildhouse, they mentioned something about another plan. Tell me if there's something else you want to do here, before we head back."

"No objections? Let's go then."

The rogues walk back to the alchemist guildhouse through the waking city. They are on their way back to Dr. Cula's laboratory, when Madame Ladybug crosses their path. The herbalist gives them a sarcastic smile.


"Good morning, gentlemen. So, did you uncover Count Shadeaux's hidden identity as a 'dreadful vampire', hmmm?"

"No, not yet. We did find out he is a coward that leaves his trusted guards to die in seconds. Let's just say the Count is paranoid, he did not fall for my trick."

"Hmm, I suspected as much. It feels wrong to bother the man like this, but I put in a considerable sum for our bet. That silly Alphonse believes adamantly that Shadeaux is like him. He must be seeking some sort of justification for his own existence, hmmm... I tried to reason with him, saying that pale skin, black clothes and a bat as an emblem does not make one a vampire, but Alphonse did not listen. Hmm, I have prepared something that should solve this matter once and for all. Please follow me to the greenhouse."

The female U'kin lead the party to the back of the guildhouse where her greenhouse was situated. The room had large windows to let the multitude of vegetation bask in sunlight.


"Hmm, where did I put it? Ah, here it is!"

"This bottle contains Garlic Spray, extracted from the most pungent garlics to grow in Eubric - right here in my greenhouse, as a matter of fact. Hmm, if this doesn't drive Count Shadeaux 'bat-insane', then he is surely a human like I've been telling. You don't even have to feed it to him, just make sure to spray it on him. Does that sound like a plan to you, hmmm?"

"Hmm, I was thinking along the lines of a healing bomb, but this should work. Let's go see the doctor now."

[Sandy]

The rogues went to the laboratory, but only found the doctor's assistant there.


"The Doctor is sleeping and must not be disturbed", said the assistant coolly. "Come back in the evening."

The three rogues then spent the night going through all sorts of wacky hijinks that won't be recounted here. Back at the guildhouse, they explained the situation and Madame Ladybug's plan.


"Vell, vhat are you vaiting vor? Go tetht it out!"

"Grrrr... This better work, I haven't slept for two days now. To the park."

The party visited the Luminous Passage first, and almost instantly saw Count Shadeaux walking further ahead. This time he was escorted by two guards and a markswoman.

The three rogues jumped into the bushes to plan their approach.

[Darth Nihilus]

Dak examines the surrounding area (as in, anything within reach) for any strategical advantages. If that fails, Dak decides to climb a tree and jump to the one above Count Shadeaux, then motions wildly for Guts to throw him the Garlic Spray.

I whisper to the other rogues.

Dak looks around, and sees that the trees have thick branches, and the light from the lanterns hung on them block the view from below effectively. With the Garlic Spray at hand, Dak decides to climb a tree and move to the one above the Shadeaux entourage.
