benny Posted March 12, 2010 I bought the 7635, but i found that it had no doors. So i added the front engine door, baggage part door and the riht & left main doors. It will be one car used in my lego farm! For the hummer, this lego car is so common in the MOC of lego players. However, most of them are the army use and 8 X width. As i don't want the car so large, i made one 6x width and citizen use hummer. I choose the yellow color as i saw this sexy photo in brickshelf. Actually, i also got part of idea from brickshelf. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/hijitwin...mer/1hummer.jpg It has left and right main doors and baggage part door but it has one seat only!! lightningtiger Posted March 12, 2010 AWESOME stuff 'Benny' really AWESOME !!! Great MOD's on the Land Rover and fantastic Hummer ! Man, I'm going to try those MODs on one of my 4WD's ! Nice idea for the bonnet of the black one - very clever ! What a job you have done here on these 'Benny' and I'm a conformist! !
Ralph_S Posted March 12, 2010 I like how you've upgraded the SUV from set 7635, in particular the opening bonnet (hood for those of us in the US) and details such as the spare tyre on the back. The doors with the red and yellow stripe also suit it IMO the vehicle doesn't look all that much like an actual Hummer. I too prefer my minifig scale Hummers to be six studs wide rather than 8 but in your case choosing six wide means that the SUV is wider than the Hummer and I don't think that is very realistic. Hummers are pretty wide and since the SUV is big too, having an 8-wide Hummer to go with it might be the better option. It should have a higher ground clearance (height from the ground to the bottom of the car), for instance, and the back doesn't look right to me. On the picture of the real vehicle on brickshelf you can see that the slope of the rear hatch is quite shallow. On yours it is much steeper. Many civilian Hummers have a straight rather than a sloped back, as you can see here Yellow suits it though and I like the roof rack . Cheers, Ralph
benny Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) Thanks for your comment!!!! When i finished two jeeps, i found that the Land rover look like same size as Hummer Jeep. I know the real hummer should be bigger than the landrover. As the 8x width hummer is so common in Hong Kong lego players and World lego players, i want to prevent copying of them. Besides, 8x width is look like too big in my town, so i tried to make the 6x width one. For the straight or sloped back, as i saw this photo, i choose sloped back. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/hijitwin...mer/1hummer.jpg However, i am thank for your comment. I know you chose a sloped back (I looked at the bricklink picture you linked to), but the slope you ended up with doesn't look right. It is much steeper on your model than on the real car. Compare the back of yours to the back of my 6-wide Hummer and you'll hopefully see what I mean. Cheers, Ralph

Big Cam Posted March 12, 2010 I like them both. The doors on the black one really bring me back becasue I have the set those came from. The yellow hummer really looks good and especially for being smaller. Ive seen larger ones and they looked great but seemed to big. I like the revers bonnet on the black one as well. Great work! Marko Posted March 12, 2010 Best Hummer I have seen here, I mean a Hummer that LEGO would do if it were in the set. Nice conversion of Range Rover as well

Cheers, Ralph Is the babe an optional extra ? I think it's hard to do a 6 wide vehicle sometimes and make it look like a real one, large the model - logically more detail the more it looks real ! I'm a conformist! !

Thanks everyone 's reference photos! I also like the big wheel one. I think the sexy babe attract me to make this yellow hummer jeep. I may try to make another black color citizen version, then i also solve the scale problem at 6x width. I believe the problem may be caused the the car front and windscreen.
