Castle mini figs advice needed for moc

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After getting into Lego again about a year ago I've bought lots of sci fi and city sets. I'm working on my first castle moc.

I am looking for advice regarding interesting castle type mini figs. I have 70400 The Forest Ambush and love the guys with the silver helmets.

I am looking for some more variety for my castle like knights or king type mini figs. I can't find any others at Toys r us or on amazon.

Can anyone suggest some mini figs I should look out for on EBay or Bricklink?

Have a browse through the Castle subcategory of minifigs in the Bricklink catalogue, it's unusual for castle-friendly minifigs to appear in other sets. The ones that do are usually copies. Some AFOLs complain that there aren't enough civillian-type options available, and suitable torso prints for that are rare. But if all you want are knights and royalty, you'll find stacks of that.

Ebay is probably your best bet if you're just starting in castle. I've gotten some great deals on there like a whole bunch of dark forestmen for a fraction of their bricklink price. Sets are usually pretty good but I don't like the recent castle sets much for various reasons. Bricklink is better for people with larger collections who have specific purchases in mind (ie they don't want to buy what they already have).

Bricklink would be a good way to view all the different minifigs. I have alot of the newer blue lion knights, but before those guys the red lion knights looked very very nice. And the red guys also have silver helmets

If you want peasants, than there are probably lots of Star Wars Jedi from the early 2000's on Bricklink that are very useful for that. Otherwise, for the moment Forest Ambush is your only option for cheap army building, so I second what Deathleech said about waiting for the new sets. :classic:

Hey fella

Just as a side note for individual characters the LEGO cmf series has some great standout Castle figs particularly if you are working in yellow rather than fleshie. Brickjaggers shout on peasants is a really good call too!

Half of my medieval peasants are really former JEDI haha. I took alot of my Star Wars characters and re-pourposed them. The Old Jedi minifigs make fantastic medieval village people.

Honestly, I would just hold off a few months until we get pictures of the rumored 2016 Castle wave.

I didn't know that was in the offing. Castle stuff is pretty thin on the ground at the moment. I hope there's a new wave it's a great theme.

This is what I'm after. A visual catalogue of the theme. I don't know the names of the fractions etc. checking it out now.

Yellows what I'm after. I'm not familiar with all the CMF series apart from the last two. I'll check the net and see what figs match the theme, thanks.
