Khorne Posted August 23, 2006 When I saw the Bloviator by Legeaux, I was surprised how small the mortars on his ship were. I thought that the mortars used to be huge, bulky siege engines, like in Age of Empires 3 (see image below), so I developed my own mortar, called 'The Queen of England'. It features a turnable gun barrel and a non-accurate pedestal (and that's about it :-P ). It's not that special, but let's move on to the pics nonetheless ;-) . AOE 3 Mortar The Queen of England Overall shot: Showing the turnsystem: In action shot: Mini Comic: Post-mod folder C&C welcome. PS: I have nothing against the Queen of England ;-) . Mister Phes Posted August 23, 2006 And I was expecting to see a Queen! Imagine my surprise when I saw this magnigicent boom chamber, what's the range on one of these things?
ghoulrealm Posted August 23, 2006 That's the best only lego mortar I've seen. Were these very accurate with such a short barrel?
Khorne Posted August 23, 2006 And I was expecting to see a Queen! Imagine my surprise when I saw this magnigicent boom chamber, what's the range on one of these things? I don't really know the range of such a weapon, but it's probably quite a distance :-P . I should try to look it up. That's the best only lego mortar I've seen. Were these very accurate with such a short barrel? I think that their accuracy wasn't very precise, but due to their highly destructive shells, they were still very effective versus fortresses and the morale of the enemies guarding those fortresses. oo7 Posted August 23, 2006 It's a nifty little thing to incorrporate into an imperial moc *y*. The ratating mechinism looks good too. That's the best only lego mortar I've seen. Well, ere's some ore fer ye here's a guy obsessed with the AOE games
El Bucanero Posted August 23, 2006 What a brilliant mortar! the others are okay as well, oo7 do you know anythin' more about the mortar ship??? *pirate*
oo7 Posted August 23, 2006 Well here's the gallery if that's what yer refering to.
Sir Dillon Posted August 23, 2006 Lol. I too, was expecting to see a minifig MOC of the Queen of England. :-P That's very nice mortar you've made. The use of those corner pieces was a very good idea, and makes it look like a real mortar. :-) The only thing I don't really like is the 2x8 dark grey plate going across the front. I think it would look better if you somehow moved it down and in so it doesn't stick out quite as much (kind of like the civil war mortar that 007 posted) or remove it completely. El Bucanero Posted August 23, 2006 Well here's the gallery if that's what yer refering to. I like those, since you found it, the honor is yours... Can ya be bothered creating a thread for it, or shall I do that myself?? X-D
oo7 Posted August 23, 2006 I can do it but right now I don't have the time, so if you really want to do it please, feel free to do as you please.
El Bucanero Posted August 23, 2006 I'll just do that, you will get the credit of finding it. Mr Tiber
SkaForHire Posted August 23, 2006 here's a guy obsessed with the AOE games first of all, cool mortar, would be neat to see a squad of these things... and when you find out the real range... try converting it into lego scale measurements and then studs! :P j/k though that would be cool lol. as for the obsessed with AOE guy....i wish he had a better camera... the battle was pretty cool though. Mister Phes Posted September 12, 2006 This image is great! Mr KhoRne why did you call these motors the "Queen of England"?
Captain Ironhook Posted September 14, 2006 I wish to know the differents between a English motoar and a motoar from outside of England. This description in the thread says it is an English motoar which is why I have become wondering about it.
Khorne Posted September 14, 2006 I wish to know the differents between a English motoar and a motoar from outside of England. This description in the thread says it is an English motoar which is why I have become wondering about it. As far as I know, there is no real difference. Mine is called an English moratar because he's used by the English ;-) . BTW, I haven't found the real range, it's really difficult to find :-/ .
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 Mr Khorne, you could turn this into a comic or build this into some kind of story.
Scouty Posted October 15, 2006 :-D That's funny ^^. The mortoar looks great! I was just randomely looking on the ground of the pic, and wondered, "what is that material!?!" Is it fabric?
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 It looks like its snow come to think of it... I didn't really pay much attention until you pointed that out Mr Imperial Scouts.
Scouty Posted October 15, 2006 I kind of see crisscros paterns, so i doubt it is snow, plus I think the figs and things would have a hard time standing on snow. {snip}
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 I didn't actually mean it was snow, I meant thats what it reminded me of! As for your Hoth Sets... If you removed the base plate or pushed them further into the snow that might work better. But that discussion is probably best left for another thread in a different forum. Scouty Posted October 15, 2006 Oh. Yes my MOC should be left for another forum, if you wish you may take down the image.( I didn't want to remove the baseplates, I wouldn't dare get my legos wet :-D .
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 Think of that image as a teaser for anyone interested, so I'll leave it there but we better post no more non Pirate images in this thread otherwise that would be bad luck - just like bringing a woman on board...
Khorne Posted October 15, 2006 Lol! No, the ground isn't snow, it just a blanket :-P . Thanks for the comments everybody! @Mr. Phes: I won't turn this into a comic ;-) . Don't have time for that.
Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 I didn't think you would, but I had to suggest it anyway. What font was used for the text bubbles? It looks like Comic Sans and it seems to work very well for spoken words, which come to think of it makes sense since its got "Comic" in the name...

I find it's one of the cooler standard fonts. It does make sense that it has Comic in it's name, now you only need to figure out why Sans is in there... :-P
