[MOD] 10227 - UCS B-Wing

Recommended Posts

As much as I love 10227, there were areas that I felt could have been done much better. Unlike other sets in the UCS line I have seen very few mods, and those that exist have few details.

I now feel I have addressed all of my gripes with the model, including a stand that lets me invert the ship, a whole new cockpit and plated S-Foil undersides.

Unfortunately I didn't make my album with EB in mind (I'm sorry guys  ), so my images are probably too large to embed. All I have for you now is this imgur album and I may add some images to my post later.

I'd like to add that I'm not happy having the MF print on the cockpit, and the half cone doesn't come in clear without a print on it! It looks OK, but does anybody know a good way of removing the print? I know many have done so with opaque parts but not trans.

Very nice modifications! I'm especially fond of those covered undersides of the wings. Does it really need that many finger hinges? There is also another couple of parts that can do the same thing, and may be easier to come by. I'm talking about 4315 and 4213.

To post images from imgur here on Eurobricks, this is what you do:

1) Go to the individual image you want to show (I could only view images in albums, so what you can do is right click on the image, copy the image URL, paste it in your adress bar and delete the .jpg or any other file extension. This leads you to the page of that specific image)

2) In the bottom right of the page, go to "get embed codes". You'll see a window with some codes

3) At the bottom of that window, select the image size. "Large thumbnail" should be alright.

4) Then copy the code under "BBCode" or "Linked BBCode" (if you want your images to link to imgur), and paste it here on Eurobricks right into the post (so you don't have to use the image button here). Then your pictures should appear in your final post.

Keep improving those models!

Thanks for the tips, BEAVeR.

It may look like a lot, but once the plates are added, most of them are still only held on by 3 - 4 studs.

I also thought about using those larger hinge/plate combos but if you look closely at the gutted picture I was working with a few rather small dimensions that would have made using a 4x5 difficult. Using the small hinges you get the same number of studs facing up and down which has helped with the strength.
