MOC: Chu Nail Salon

Chu Nail Salon

I had been building a single level Oriental Restaurant and was close to finishing when Toorayay posted his Octopus Restaurant http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97675. Mine wasn't to that high level so I quickly had to come up with an alternative. So, I made some minor changes to the facade, added an additional level, changed the SNOT Lettering, ditched the interior in its entirety and came up with... Chu Nails!

Here's details of the SNOT lettering. I wanted something that looked signage on a cheap hotel. There's a combination of right way up and upside down vertical and horizontal connections clipped onto the cattle grid background.

Details of the front entrance. I was looking for an abstract Nail display and one of the earlier iterations had nail brushes moving via technic gears and axles and although it functioned it looked too Heath Robinson to remain.

The interior. This shows the foot-bath, nail table, overhead lighting and a couple of mirrored tables (stolen from a Friends set)

And a view from the other angle showing the waiting room - complete with L shaped sectional sofa, fish tank and potted plant and restroom.

And a final shot of Chu Nail's during Chinese New Year

Thanks for reading.

Comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome!

As we've discussed before, I prefer a more vertical, rectangular building with no texture or interior detail. Please rework to meet my standards.

AHA! So THIS is where the excess parts from your (formerly) Palace Cinema went!

The exterior is splendid again! The colors work very well together. I'm stealing your idea for that sign! And the windows are gorgeous! Where are those from? A ninjago set I assume? Pink couch = lurv!

I am wondering why there is just one yellow flag and one light bley brick in the facade? Or is that just you, being a rebel?

Impressive nail salon, but the name sounds a little funny. Think about it, Chu Nail Salon. Chew Nail Salon. What is it some people do? Chew their nails. Was that intended or just a funny coincidence?

 I'll try harder next time...

Thanks, the windows came from a Ninjago Temple of Light set. And yes, I'm a rebel.... a rebel without a clue!

All part of my plan to entertain. The original plan for an Oriental Restaurant was going to be called TOHO with a Godzilla theme going on. The Chu Nail Salon name just really amused me - probably way more than it should.

Ha-ha, that dragon! And don't worry, it has such a high standard as the Octopus Restaurant.

..And yes, I'm a rebel.... a rebel without a clue!

It's a Petty pity that just a few will get this joke.

Another awesome modular, there hasn't been one of your MOCs that i didn't like, you have such great detail for interior and exterior, another job well done here!!

Although I fear that this building will be too up-market for your town....? Or is the worm turning??

Happy building either way!!

P.S. that dragon is awesome
