Very basic LDD question

Recommended Posts

Apologies for creating a new thread form what is probably a really basic question, but searching hasn't helped me as I think the terms are too vague.

In LDD, I can rotate pieces and zoom in and out easily enough but I cannot find a way to move the camera left / right / forward / back. I am positive there must be a simple trick I am missing, so please help a poor newbie out

Use the right mouse button to orbit, and Shift+Rmousebutton to pan. Hope that works for you.

You can also click any brick with the right mouse button to center the camera on that brick. That's the technique I tend to use myself, although it is sometimes inconvenient if you want to center the camera on the edge of a larger brick.

Question: would it be convinient to be able to pan by clicking both left and right mouse button simultenously? I have this high on my "5.0 wanted list" but I'm not sure how it would feel/work. And would it possibly clash with some other feature that would make better use of that button combo?

That is handy to know, it seems to make it easier to jump around a build and then just fine tune to the area you want using shift+click. I managed to finish my first build in LDD - nothing original, just building some Space sets following instructions to get used to the software. Can't wait to start designing MOCs now!

As a newbie, I think that left+right click for panning would be a great addition - it was actually one of the things I tried while trying to figure it out. Using shift feels a little cumbersome.

Since I also have a 'very basic LDD question', I thought I'd just post it here, since it doesn't really deserve its own thread...

I need to know how I can complete the hinge connection seen below:

LXF file is here if it's necessary. Thanks in advance~

EDIT: I should add that I have tried the Hinge Align tool and that it does not work.

Nice X-wing. :classic:

First you have to solve a LDD bug by import the Clip-and-Bar Hinge Template http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48239&view=findpost&p=848679 to make all of them perfect connect.

(or learn to make one, Clip-and-Bar have to rotate to connect with hinge tools. Never move to connect=always off-center a bit. Just make one then copy).

Then try to average/balance left-right angles (make sure no collision), Just a few try to get all 2.8 degree.
