Oxford Korean Lego C&P

Recommended Posts

When public: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=331003

After reading about this knock-off brand, I asked a korean friend to look for some at one of his visits back home, so here we go. The quality of the bricks is pretty good, they look all shiny, not like those other Canadian knock-offs. The legs of the minifigs move a bit too easily, but otherwise, they are ok. The glow-BURP actually glows with shades of red, green and blue. One of the bricks had cancer, but given the latest quality issues of TLC, nothing that extra ordinary.

I think it was around $30

Shouldnt this be in "Other Themes" or "Community"?

Like the shiny door, Good quality bricks for a Clone brand. Good thing about that brand is it uses its own themes and Ideas.

Lego should have taken the Ninja chance whilst they had it... :sadnew:

I can't tell you how long I've waited for a good pictorial review of the Oxford brand. I have been an admirer of their designs for a long time, and have always respected how they consistently introduce such cool proprietery pieces, and don't steal the designs (though they do "borrow" alot of ideas) of LEGO and other companies. They must be doing something right, because "sluban" appears to be ripping off all their designs in China. Thier ancient Korean, and adventurer-like lines are brilliant, and they have a few really cool town-esque sets. One question though, how do the colors compare to LEGO?

Those baseplates look familiar for some reason. I think I had some knock-off castle set in the early 90s with baseplates like those...

The colours look more like old grey and old dark grey than the newer colours.

Some great pieces though, like the angled black roof corner slopes.

The design is very good, and its nice to see economical use of instructions too

I'm far too much of a purist to ever buy off-brand bricks, but there sure are a few pieces I'd like to see Lego build there, like the Korean helmets and pointy roof corners.

The box art is too busy for my taste too (I like Lego's just-the-model-ma'am sensibilities), but it does fit in with Asian tastes, generally speaking.

Clone bricks go in community.

Woo! I got it right!

Anyway, The sword holder can come in Extremely useful to me...Where did you get it from?

I also like the weapons, I think Brickforge base there customs around these, I mean look:

A trident

Hero Sword

Helmets

That sounds interesting. I wonder if it's possible to buy basic bricks and plates in those colors in bulk quantities. With the recent quality cuts in Lego, I'm more open to the idea of using third party bricks in my MOCs than I used to be, especially if they match well with the discontinued colors.

Thanks for all those wonderful pictures.

I have to say that Oxford is potentially the best clone brand out there - the quality looks extremely high, and there's a lot of cool pieces like the pointed slopes and brick walls. And that sword strap acessory is just wonderful - TLC should have made one of those long ago.

These actually look pretty. Cool.

I feel sullied now.

I like the oriental looking corner roof pieces, and the flame pieces. And the weapons, helmets etc. I've heard from another review here on EB that the parts are actually good quality, as good as Lego really. I have mixed feelings. The love of cool ninja stuff in me says that I should get one of these, but the Lego purist part in me says stay away. :sceptic:

Thanks for the review, anyway. It does look neat.

~Peace

That's a board feature; wait 20 minutes and it won't do it. It's a pain in the butt when making indexes.

Never even heard of Oxford brand, Looks neat however I am way to much of a "snob" to buy the knock off brand or brands for that matter, And no matter what I do I always get the "Brick Block" set cumming up in my eBay searches.................You get 1,954pc for just $4.25 U.S. plus $900.00 shipping from China

I will stick with the brick

Addendum:

I just checked out the oxford web site and I am cinfused they have a Disney line and what looks like a Harry Potter line????? The military stuff looks neat but they do infringe with the "Octank" line.

I will still stick with the brick.
