Pirate Ships

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I feel foolish for not joining this community years ago! Many of your works are splendid, I'm very excited to finally be with so many passionate builders from the same cloth so to speak.

So over the past year I set out to put all my work into one single project. I don't think that any one piece is better than your creations you have here, but as a whole it has a voice.

This is not an ad, I really just want you to see what I've built and receive your feedback. I think you'll like it, but it is a bit different.

Ships:

First off I wanted a ship that actually floats in water, so I purchased the new LEGO City Fire Boat 60109 for the base. Even with these few pieces attached to it, it rode really low in the back and easily filled.

The smaller ships are pretty simple, and do not actually float in water.

There is an anchor that the cord was attached to that the cannon may fire to attach to other ships like a grappling hook. This picture is from after it was fired and cut. (Link to it being fired further down this page.)

Also the little boats attach to the main ship's "wings".

I made these vessels for a fantasy setting, hence the engines on the left ship. It was made with the Lord of the Rings ghost ship and custom pieces. I painted the engines, support beams and chains on it chrome, like the bow to fit the style. I used a cloth sail and painted bridges for the uprights. You can see it better here, (at 1:25:11

Nice to see the prefab boat hulls used. Not many people use them in MOCs.

Thanks. In the future I would use boats like I see on here.

I looked through your flickr, your creations and your photos are like works of art. I like how you completely fill your scenes with foliage and/or water. It looks professional.

Smooth sailing to your pirate ship! Pirates rule!

Thanks, making them sail was a challenge. I like your chess board, but the bottom link in your signature doesn't go anywhere.

Thanks a lot. You are the only one to let me know that the bottom link in my signature doesn't go anywhere.I editted it so please try again.

Yeah, it is working now. When I get the confirmation email from idea.lego.com I'll support it. I like the colors and the three masts.

Thanks for supporting! I hope you supported all my 4 projects. Try to upload your projects there, too. The more pirate projects fans upload the more chances there can be that LEGo will continue this series. Pirates are for ever!

I wouldn't consider this pirates really, more like a ninja, pirate fantasy action theme. When I think Pirate mocs i think sailing ships and flintlocks. You only have two pictures and the quality is not very good at all. I would like to see more of the ship. Are you familiar with the old "Time Cruisers" Theme from the 90s? Thats what your build reminds me of.

From the two pictures that do not show much I cannot give too much feedback. However From what I can see I would say to build the ship less blocky. Ad some angles and curves. I would re-think a better color scheme that flows together nicely. Its a cool idea to use a pre-fab floating hull, just ship looks like it needs some improvements.
