    Your Favourite Minifigure

Just what it says on the tin. No wrong answers, just tell me why. Is it a poor abused keychain figure that hangs off your bag and always makes you smile? Is it the figure you took everywhere as a kid? Is it a favourite character in minifig form? A figure that you are building an army of? I'm asking a question that I can't really answer myself I have a lot of favourites and choosing just one is going to take some thought. Also: non standard figures are permitted. From bigfig to the little printed "Oscar" figs. We are not doing a Bricklink though, so anything that is actually a construction (Cars, Giant Man or the like) isn't actually a figure. Have at it!

    New Lego Identity by Interbrand!

Literally no one. The work vans didn't even get new livery until the hire-period was up on the current fleet, then the new ones had the rebranded look. We still were told to use the stock of calling cards, carbon-copy certificate/service sheet books and our uniforms were a mix of old logo and new as no one was giving every employee a new set of gear for the sake of a new shade of green (at the scale on the uniform, you couldn't see any gaps in the letter...). Essentially, if you want to make easy money, maybe become a brand consultant!

    New Lego Identity by Interbrand!

The company I work with (Local Government for life BABY) recently went through a big and expensive rebrand. They "filled in" the gaps in letter of the logo (one that previously had little lines cut from it in a style that "evokes speed") and tweaked the shade of green they were using. No idea why, it just means that I swapped a few graphic files for making naff posters (Raffles, team events etc). Seems to be another one of the random "Brand energy" exercises big business likes to do so that they can catch a few headlines.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Okay, you have also made it clear you don't like Star Wars. Me too! (It honestly used to be something people threw against me...) Literally, the last film I watched was Rogue One and I watched the Visions animations because I love animation (and the creators were actually able to do something interesting with the franchise). However, in the scheme of things how would an unpopular franchise be so marketed still? We might not like it, little kids might not like it, but a whole lot of other people like it including the 10+ age demographic the sets are aimed at. If it wasn't working, there wouldn't be toys/EGO. As noted by TeriXeri: Personally, I would enjoy some not Batman centric DC sets, but only Batman seems to be the popular one with the kids so Batman is what is sold. So yah, I don't think it is a fallacy to say that kids don't like the same stuff that my generation like as kids, or your generation liked as kids. Heck, I was born at the end of the 80s, I have younger siblings born in the 2000s and what they enjoyed was way different to what I did. Then time marches on, my friend's kids don't like exactly what my younger siblings did.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

It is also the case that the things that appealed to children when these themes existed, don't appeal to children as much today. Blame what you want (Internet, bad parenting, media saturation of life etc etc etc) but it seems TLG managed to create an original hit with Ninjago. I wonder if they can catch the same success with something else, let alone with resurrecting older themes.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Ain't that the truth! I finally got back to creative building after a year of just figure swapping, joining a collaborative project gave me the kick to start again. Plus space in a place is never quite big enough.

Do these bricks lock ? :)

Yes, it doesn't lock. It only spins freely. A vertical mounting would drop/rotate. A friction pin would slot into the pin hole and you could mount it to a technic brick/plate and tile combo.

    Fits and spins.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Oh this exactly. Sphinx Secret Surprise is my absolute cherished childhood set. I had hours of play and still love it today. It must have been a popular one for others, it appeared as one of the minibuilds in the 90 Years of Play creator set. Looking at it objectively: It is small, made out of some very large parts and is thus lacking in some detail. A reissue would need solutions for at least five parts no longer in production, which also includes the baseplate the whole thing is built on! I made a MOC that recreated what my childhood mind's eye saw, again, not something everyone can do I know. I would love a return of a Johnny Thunder/Adventurers set, but it looks like I can settle for City having more Jungle Exploration. Also, I think the reasons people would like Re-issues of sets must be over my head or past my own desires. Is it that people want a sealed box printed to look like a replica with the contents exactly as in the past, to sit on display? Do people want something that looks like the old designs and figures from a set, again for display? Is it a desire to have the parts and figures available to build a MOC within the theme? Honestly, I truly prefer to create with LEGO first, collecting is what I do with Books, Diecast cars and fun random figures. My real true desire is for TLG to make every production element in every production colour and make them available at a reasonable cost, or at least a bearable cost. With CMF series continuing in their random way, so I can populate builds

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Both those are not tiresome arguments. As said: That was what the forum faced, not when talking about the 90s and early 00s, but in the 2010s. Used to describe anything anyone didn't like without any true reasoning or discussion. Just the parroted screeching of the word by a huge number of members. Thus making any new set discussion a repeat post of the same word over and over. Simplified is not censored and actually shares and describes the issue. Sure, maybe people have moved past the problem we added it to the censor list for, but why throw out a buzzword when a measured response with an explanation is better use of the forum. I know I am disagreed with, but it is one word and it doesn't hurt not to have it....

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

Considering we instituted it because it really is a Tiresome Argument and we wanted people to maybe move past the kids toys being accessible to kids "issue", it is really doing its job. Censoring opinions it may be, but when it was the sum total of some people's arguments and they repeated them ad nauseum, the auto-filter really did its job of getting people to post considered and articulated arguments of their position instead of screeching Junior- at everything. As a private platform, that is what EB can have if the admins wish. If any of the Admin think it is safe to remove the little bit of script, that might happen.
  13. Yeah, this sort of thing is not what the forum is for. There is a sell and trade section open to members who have participated in the forum for a while, to prevent scams and crimes. So yeah, locking this.

    Identifying a part

My first tip is to try any of the apps out there that claim they are able to ID parts, as those can help. Next idea: if you have a few parts, take photos and put them into the thread MAB linked and the brain banks here can help. If you have a lot of parts, I would suggest making a quick grid on a sheet of paper with numbers for each square, pop the parts in each and take one photo. Share that photo on the thread and members can use the easy labels to help ID parts. One photo is faster than lots. Personally, I know I can help ID parts, even clone brands (if not to set, at least manufacturer).
