My TC10 will be flight simulator. I got the basics working; compressor with regulator, platform with pitch, yaw and roll, altitude is controlled by the pitch.

I just need to cobble it all together and build a plane and a joystick, etc

I would like the plane to make appropriate rudder and flap movements and have automatic landing gear when it returns to the platform.

I'm finally having fun with pneumatics. Pitch and altitue are in sync. The change in height is 14 studs.

I think I could make a filght simulator as a C model for 42053.

I got the elevators, rudder and ailerons all working together; its going to look better when the cylinders are moving the plane intead of my hand.

The joystick is where the magic will happen.

I could do a joystick with "foot" controls for the rudder but then I'd have to use two hands to fly it. I think the joystick should twist to adjust the yaw.

Done something quite similar long ago with pure PF. It's interesting to see how you will solve this with pneumatics, especially the joystick.

This is the MOC type that I would vote for, but I didn´t like to build it even having the idea first, it is strange :blush: .

There was a basic (2-axis) version in the 8891 ideas book from 1991, which I think was probably buildable from the first control centre set - see about 2/3 down the page here: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/en/lego_instructions/set/8891/rb

There were lots of great models in there - I remember building the walking dinosaur and the cable car, and bodging my way towards approximations of the ones I didn't have the right sets for...

Done something quite similar long ago with pure PF. It's interesting to see how you will solve this with pneumatics, especially the joystick.

Great model, I can see you have some complex mechanism moving the elevators in step with the movements of the plane; my joystick won't need to worry about any of that. I built a few things before I started this and abandoned them because they were better with PF. This project "won" because altitude change is much easier with pneumatics than LAs; I mean it is easier to run services with pipes than gears because the platform moves.

This is great! I think this contest is a perfect opportunity for non vehicle MOCs, and I have just come up with such an idea myself.

It's great to finally see a non-vehicle entry, I'm really looking forward to see how this will turn out. I think it's the best model for the contest so far.

That joystick looks very good. I really like that the friction of the switches gives it some resistance, so it doesn't just flop around. :thumbup:

In the video I'm using the regulator as a throttle to help gain altitude but I am considering a second (lower pressure) compressor for the main controls in order to save the high pressure one for just the altitude.

I like the idea of a viable throttle but it would be nice to have finer control of the attitude plane.

That joystick looks very good. I really like that the friction of the switches gives it some resistance, so it doesn't just flop around. :thumbup:

I'm using a combination of stiff new switches and old easier to move switches to get the best feel on the joystick.
