What Real Life Train is Based of the 7938?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I can't remember where I read or saw a photo of the real train that the 7938 is based off as well as a brick-built one. I would like to be directed to any infomation about it as I am planning on modifing my 7938.

Thanks

For me this always looked like a Bombardier Talent in DB (Deutsche Bahn) colors (the older version, not Talent 2), here also known as BR644 and BR643. The front is a bit more curved than the Lint trains. Especially if you look at the modifications by cimddwc (https://www.flickr.c...57627251027713/) and some side views.

I think the Bombardier is more like the older PF train (7897) although the LEGO nose is way too long for the Bombardier.

I think they also look a bit like the Stadler FLIRT. You can probably modify your 7938 to any of the trains mentioned.

I take this one now and then in Holland:

(The FLIRT that Dr. Spock was mentioning)

I think that might be a picture of the Stadler GTW 2/8. I made one of those GTW 2/6 in DB colors: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92875 Although I didn't have a 7938 set, 7938 would mod nicely into one. :classic:

What is it like riding the GTW? I have only seen pictures of them online. I think those Stadler designers may have cloned LEGO Airport Shuttle monorail.

It indeed is a Stadler GTW 2/8 but is also described as "FLIRT Type Spurt" (not sure if that is correct though). Well it is not bad, has airconditioning etc. but I normally only take it for about 2 minutes (one stop). Often very crowded though ;) Stadler and Veolia then I guess (they probably came up with the paint scheme ;))
