(LDD MOD) UCS Star Destroyer

Recommended Posts

Ok so im in the process of bricklinking the 10030 Star Destroyer but wanted to show the mods im planning on doing. As awesome as the original is i was always a bit disappointed in some of the details and greebling, anyway, enough talking and on to the pics. Hopefully the touch ups are noticeable but not enough to be in your face, all the greebling was redone, front of bridge reshaped, entire engine area redone and a few things changed and added.

I'll have to post some pictures of my redone bridge; you might like some of the styling ques. I overhauled it in the spirit of Jerac's masterpiece and even in this scale it looks amazing.

That's very impressive, All in the Reflexes, well done!

It's a shame that some of the parts in the 10030 are so rare, otherwise I'd love to build one. You've made some great improvements to the original, and it's how I'd expect a new version to look (e.g. crammed with greebling!). The engines are particularly impressive, and the little Falcon is really cute!

That looks really spot on! Perfect work... I love the new engine area!

I'm sooo tempted to tackle this one as well anytime this year... Any chance to get the hands on you LDD-file? ;-)

I love that you engineered out the bulk of the rare parts, which should not be rare in the first place - There is no longer a need for small gray levers says the man from Lego...

I think your version is actually better than the original. Can't wait to see it in the brick! Any interior?

Here's my current bridge. Again, a lot of the ideas were taken from Jerac's masterpiece.

I like what you did with the top of the bridge. I debated using the 1x1 clips as well to get that look but thought it might look too thick. Looks good on yours though, I might try it.

Is there already an alternative for the two sensor domes/deflector shield generators?

Great job! Like the others, I like the extra greebling. I also like the added details on the hull plates.

Since you're upgrading the original UCS set, I would recommend that you adjust the 2nd level of the superstructure. TLG made it the same width (looking at the ship from the front) as the 3rd level, whereas the 3rd level should be less wide, giving it the wedding-cake tiered look.

Does that make sense?

Wow, so many good ideas, so many things to improve. I finished my rebrick a few weeks ago with a closed gap.

Looks great! The only thing that bothers me is that the shield generator domes are perpendicular with the slope of the bridge instead of standing straight up. I think this could be easily solved with some combination of hinge pieces.

Ok as promised, LDD file, have at it guys :)

MOD 10030

@took9 - Thats great, did you move the side plates out one stud to fit it or kinda force it in the center?

Very nice! Instead of hunting for a 10030, I could go down this route instead!

Much thanks for sharing! :sweet:
