Were these real LEGO adverts?

Recommended Posts

WTF? Uhm, yeah, somehow I highly doubt that these are from TLG. But then again, it has the copyrighted Lego logo. If these are not from TLC, someone needs to get sued - badly.

These are not bad actually, though. Where did you find 'em?

These are the fakest things ever. TLC would never make those, and anyway they don't even make sense

A few days ago, I saw a picure of naked women pixelized.

They had the Lego Logo and a slogan : For adults.

It seems to be an artist work.

Maybe the others shown in this thread are derivated from this.

No idea, but the last one is lame, who would choose lego over a hot chick.

I think you missed the point. The idea is that LEGO is a better pastime for kids than watching what amounts to soft-core porn on TV.

Yup, Definately not TLG sanctioned.

Quite the contrary. I'm not sure about the naked chick, but as for the fake adverts, I think they are a brilliant commentary that juxtaposes what young kids should be doing (playing with LEGO) against what they are doing instead (watching thousands of acts of sex and violence on TV). I could be wrong about the artists intent -there may be an additional layer of ironic intent that I'm missing- but it seemed pretty clear to me.

AGREED!

Also, I think these are hilarious ... and since the 'artist' doesn't seem to mind using LEGO's trademark, I'm sure they won't mind if I jack these for use on my facebook account! Facebook, away!

I don't know if these are for real or are fakes, but I like them.

ALthough I must admit that I would prefer the classic LEGO adverts because these are not made for kids eyes IMHO.

I fully agree with what Eilif said - except perhaps about the bit that kids should be playing with LEGO instead of watching TV, since it focuses on the negatives on the alternative to LEGO and not on the positives about LEGO. For us, the message gets through, but perhaps not for (absent-minded) parents.

I think these are part of a exam-project for a student taking a degree in marketing, and not a stunt initiated by a studio to market themselves.

First, PLEASE reduce your pictures!

And to topic: NO, I've heard something about them, and TLC said that they are a stupid fake.

Like these (the motto is: Rebuild it)...

And I think such pictures aren't funny...

Actually, those are quite funny. But yes, I seriously doubt these are official. Anybody with a copy of Photoshop could have made these.

Thanks Calvin for bringing this up, I think that´s a pretty interesting artwork.

And an intelligent one too. It´s never all too wrong to call our consumption and perception of media into question...

First, PLEASE reduce your pictures!

I like the size of the pics in that special case. It made it more easily for me to evaluate their quality.

The pics you posted, Bricks, are a different matter for sure. 'Rebuild it', in that special context, is a

very sardonic and improper message IMHO.

But I think the size is for many users a bit to high->And the size contravene against the rules....

Yes, they are sadonic, but I think such pictures are NOT funny!

And many, many people died because of these incidence.

These are very cool and very original. Probably from some publicity student.

I would like this thread to be closed (and/or pictures removed) until another immature comment about the 9/11 picture might offend/ hurt/ disrespect someone in the EB community.

Thanks a lot.

I think the first pics are great! No idea how people could find them offensive  The ones Bricks posted... well, may have been funny for some at some point, but why Bricks, why did you post them? You yourself say they are horrible, and so you share them? :hmpf:

I thinke we are doing a disservice to the artist to assume that the disaster pics are intended in a humorous way.

The artist is using a non-humorous statement "rebuild it", and pictures of serious non-staged subject matter. Taken in that context, I don't find anything offensive in those pictures. Rather, I find them to be quite hopeful.

There may have been some innapropriate comments, but we are capable of intelligent discourse, and I hope we can continue discussing without calling for closure of an interesting thread.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Quite clever actually.

"Another"? :look: Who was being disrespectful? There was only one comment where a member said that he finds those artworks funny, but I think he simply stated that this is his type of humor and didn't mean anything disrespectful. But I'm sorry if you were offended by that. :sadnew:

I think we are doing a disservice to the artist to assume that the disaster pics are intended in a humorous way.

Then what is the point of including the lego logo? :sceptic: If you ask me, there is clearly some intent of humor in these, even though a very macabre one.

I agree! It would be hard to make out that the pixels are supposed to be bricks if they were smaller. Then again, rules are rules...

If you find some of these ads offensive, don't look at them. You don't have to prevent others who are less sensitive from enjoying and commenting on this strange new advertising campaign.

But that´s where the drift of that campaign is misfired. Destroyed things can be rebuild, yes, but the real tragedy in these pics is the loss of all

those people´s lives. All that personal (and universal) horror...

And of course these lives can never be replaced, especially not with some MFs... (I know you´re of course not saying so, Eilif).

The LEGO connection here works strong in the provocation department, but the relevance´s limping.

'Rebuild it', perhaps in another context... maybe. Provoking thoughts throughout art is not a bad thing, and cynicism can lead to some interesting

results too. I have no idea what exactly the intentions of that person who made the second set of pics in this topic are. Perhaps... to rebuild

something somewhat must be build at first... everything´s a result of something, somehow... could a different foreign policy help to prevent

terroristic attacks? A better intelligence? Could the harm caused by floods and storms be mellowed if politicians would decide to spend

more money on precautionary measures? Are our living conditions contributing to the (assumed) increasing of ecological calamities?

So many theoretical possibilities... however, I think there´s a distinct shadow of doubt clouding the honesty of that second person´s intentions...

But it´s hard to judge without knowing more.

I want to show that someone realesed akin adverst. And I want to show that they are not funny, as I said in the last posts above.

So why shouldn't I post them...?

->And besides most of the members are over 18 years old (if you mean that point)...

That's I wanted to say. It's really dire that someone made such adverst... :hmpf_bad:
