MOC: Rebel Cruiser

I am proud to introduce my first MOC post on Eurobricks, the Rebel Cruiser!

Developed from my imagination the Kuat Drive Yards, this Cruiser was a prototype vehicle that utilized a new advancement in lightspeed travel. It featured a Maxi-Drive, which allowed the ship to travel at speeds more than double that of normal lightspeed. The drive yards produced only two of these ships, to be used for testing. The first Cruiser to test out the Maxi-Drive resulted in ship pieces being scattered all across the galaxy. To avoid bad press, the Drive Yards scrapped the project, and the Empire took custody of the second Cruiser, which was to be used for weapons testing. However, the Rebels crashed this party and hijacked the cruiser. They are still working on perfecting the Maxi-Drive, and currently use the Cruiser for raids and quick evacuations, due to the Cruiser's ability to travel at very high speeds. The Cruiser has minimal weaponry, and relies on fighter escorts. It is the first to flee the area should any imperial fleets stop by.

The cockpit:

Inside the cockpit(no hats allowed)

The middle section. It is almost an exact copy of the Republic Cruiser.

The inside is also almost exactly like the Republic Cruiser.

The back/engines. This section is similar to that of the Republic Cruiser.

well, that's all. I realize "captain Dan" was only in four pictures, but that's because i left him in the cockpit and forgot about him during the photoshoot. So he did a bad job at giving you the tour, but i hope the pictures did better. Feel free to leave any feedback. I also apologize for the discoloration on some of the white plates. I have poor storage techniques, and it shows.

What a great first MOC Tricky-Bricky! I was just welcoming you in the Member's Intro thread and here you are showing off your creation. I love the concept of the Maxi-Drive, and even if the ship is based mostly on the Republic Cruiser, you managed to give it a different and distinct design. The white color scheme looks clean, the only suggestions that I would make is if you could probably add tiles on the body surfaces to give it a smoother look. And a little bit of another color in the body might help giving the ship a bit more 'flavor'. Nevertheless, it's a very good MOC for your first time. Keep it up and hope to see more of your original MOCs here.

PS: LOL at the backstory, Cap't. Dan went missing (!), and I love the comparison pics with the two other cruisers.

Thank you all for your feedback! I've taken you're comments into consideration, and decided to try to smooth out the look of the cruiser. Here's a few pics(more to come):

An overhead shot. I hope you like the green as the secondary color. I was going to do dark red like the Tantive IV, but i thought green was more exotic and might be more interesting. you can also see how mcuh smoother the middle is now with the tiles.

And here's the maxi-drive breaching. It spits fire because it doesn't work very well(or because it's too powerful...I haven't decided yet)

I like the newer version better but I can see some of the pieces have dirt and glue left over from stickers.

I like how you've smoothed out some of surfaces, it makes a much better contrast between rough and smooth. I also like the added colour, it adds something more to the model as a whole.

When taking your photos avoid using the flash, at the moment there are a lot of shadows, instead set your camera up on a tripod, use more lighting and try out some longer shutter speeds on your camera. Sorry if you know this already But a great MOC

The second version is alot better, the first was abit bland, to much white I think, so the green is a welcome addition.

I can see the resemblance with the other two ships, which is cool.

Great improvement from the first one, it's a good thing you listened to your peers' suggestions. The cruiser looks much better now with the smoother surfaces and some highlights of green. A bit of cleaning of the body surfaces would make it even better.
