I know we have another review of this set, but since I just got it, I thought I would share my comments on it.

Set Name: Droid Gunship Platform
Number: 7678
Pieces: 329
Bought from: Wal*mart
Price: $29.99, (I got mine for $25)

When I first saw the blurry prelim pic of this set, I knew I had to have it. It was simply awesome, and It was my second favorite vehical of the droid faction in the star wars saga. One thing saddened me however: Lego was choosing to make the new one, Called the Droid Gunship Platform. THEY DIDN"T MAKE THE MAF!

HMP Droid Gunship:

MAF Droid Gunship:

Now as you can see, they have some similarities, but the MAF has mor of a cockpit, and was the original Droid gunship. Instead they made the HMP Droid Gunship, which feaures a somewhat disfferent design.

On to the review.

Posted Image
Here we have the box. It is really shiny, and smooth, and fits the set's size okay. It has a clean, bright look, and is truley outstanding.

Posted Image
The back of the box, which has the features of the set, as well as the other three CW sets.

Posted Image
The contents(These two pics were at my grandma's house.)

Posted Image
The siticker sheet. No to bad, and the stickers have clear backs, which is always nice.

Posted Image
Instructions

Posted Image
Here we have the figs(two new droids and one older armed droid for the cockpit), and the extra parts.

Posted Image
The build starts with the flat base. Pretty simple.

Posted Image
The bottom.

Posted Image
The side lasers.

Next is the head:
Posted Image
It starts pretty soild.

Posted Image
The side buble laser turrets. Loveing the detail.

On the ship:
Posted Image

Posted Image
The "lid" and eyes.

Posted Image
The finished cockpit.

Posted Image
Cozy interior... Would have had more room if it were the MAF though. :sceptic:

Posted Image
The front landing gear. Simple and effective. :classic:

Posted Image
The back landing gear.

Posted Image
The rockets. The clips are annoying. But it make the rockets work so, I guess it was nessecary.

Posted Image
Mounted on the bottom. Not very secure, but that's why they are meant to be dropped on the clones....

Posted Image
The finished ship.

---------------------------------------------

Let me say that the droid gunship is a nice set indeed. I am not to fond of the rocket dropping mechanism, as it makes the rockets look silly. The detail in the front end is beautiful! But the small cockpit isn't the greatest. I would have prefered the MAF's cockpit instead. Overall, it is mildly recommended.

Final rating: 86%

Hope you enjoyed the review! Please, if you have a ny questions, pic requests, etc, then by all means, ask! :classic:

Best Regards,
VBBN

Thanks for the review.
It's always good to have a 2nd opinion on a set.
I've added the usual poll and I'll index it tomorrow (must sleep).
Super pics and great to have "in-build" pics
A fine set which I'll surely buy when I find it. :hmpf_bad:

Very nice review.  One thing you have to consider:  when lego sees pics of the star wars universe, they have to decide which would be the easiest set to make with the most playibility.  Therefore, they chose the HMP.

Thanks! One thing I belive is this: Lego is starting to make the blue droid faction(aat, vulture droid, etc.), but sometimes makes brown ones(MTT). So maybe they will make a $50 MAF in brown later, like the brown vulture droid last year.  Let's hope!

Nice review! Thanks for the clear pics. Also, if you place a brick so the axles on the bomb mechanisms tips are touching the brick, the bombs should stay on.

I almost bought it the other day, the box makes it look so cool. Something about the new clone wars packaging makes you want to buy all the sets on the shelf!

Thanks for the review. I have had second thoughts about purchasing this bad boy and I think you made it clear that it was a nice buy. However, I would have loved the MAF too!

And it's now a part of the index.
I've added it as "Review 2" since we've already got one.
Thanks for the review and it's always nice to have nmore than one view/opinion on a given set

You've said it all
That's exactly how I feel about it.
I've not got a single clue as to what this thing is or why.
But the colours and the design are awesome.
Might be a little small....anyways I'm getting it.
