Admiral Starwind

HMCS Wandering ArchAngel

Recommended Posts

Well some people have said that the HMCS Starwind was too big and not mavueverable enough to actually get an enemy in its sights, well i heard all that but in the back of my head i was laughing and now i'll show you why. The starwind is meant to me a mobile artillery barrage with it's 26 cannons but i knew when designing the HMCS Starwind that the HMCS Wandering ArchAngel was being designed so i now give you........

THE HMCS GUARD SHIP WANDERING ARCHANGEL

Specs:

Length: 87 studs

Width: 28 studs

Height: 41 studs

Masts: 2

Sails: 6

Cannons: 4 pivot mounted rail riding cannons

Basically this baby can do laps around any ship while reducing the hull at the water line of that ship to swiss cheese.

And to give you a comparison of size here's a shot of the Starwind Super imposed with the Wandering ArchAngel and in formation.

THis is a nice brig. I think you could have gotten away with more cannons had you wanted, (maybe 8 a side even it looks like?) but it is good how it is. I hope you build both. I am a Starwind supporter, i think it is a good line ship (would need more guns in real life, but in the legoverse, this is definitely a ship of the line type ship.)

Yeah the Starwind is meant to be the most heavily armed ship in the lego verse using lego cannons which take up a megablock load of space pardon my french plus the hulls don't have enough draft to support the amount of guns needed i suppose i could make a brick built hull but good lord it would take forever. Actually the most heavily armed ship in the legoverse would be the concept ship the andromeda i think her gun capacity was 34 or 36 one of the two.

That ship looks great, not too big, not too much masts, Will you build this in real? It won't be so expensive as the starwind :-D

dunno yet i might build both and have mid construction pics of both in the dry dock but that dry dock just keeps getting bigger. Plus last night i had an epiphany about how to make a ship of the line all 60+ guns without it being tooo big but at the same time being reasonable. it's taking a while to design and if she goes through production good lord i dunno everyone prollly thinks im crazy here for building things so big but i dunno we'll see once im done designing it.

1.Can you do it in studs AND mid pieces please?

2.how can it possible be 28 studs wide if a normal center section is only 18 studs? I asume you made a mistake in typin'

I think you're quite sane.

I love big ships!

And this one is looking awesome.

Sure shes got4 mid sections and the bow and stern as for the dimesions i go thtem right out of the program i'll convert them to CM but before i do that they are right because you are not taking into account the span of the masts. Oh and she uses the huls from the Imperial flagship.

Width: 22.23 CM

Height: 68.65

Length: 37.31

What makes you think this? We must remember the more cannon, men and ammunition the ship carries the heavier it becomes and thus harder to manoeuvre. So whilst it may sail faster whilst unladen the same may not be true if it was fully armed because we must also remember for a ship to gain speed it must accelerate over distance.

What do you use to design your ships? LDraw?

Based ont he ships i've seen most guyson here build this is one of the smallest and as such makes her faster due to her more than ample sails.

IT is true the board has a tendency to build BIG ships, i would if i had enough of one color to do so lol... plus i am building buildings as of late it seems.

I said it before and I will say it again, i like this design. how hard is mlcad to learn? if i could get aquainted at it maybe i could figure out what i had to buy to build my dream ship... lol.

its pretty easy i mean it looks complex when you first start it up but you just drag the bricks form the list and then orient them the way you want them the thing that messes you up the most is the snap to grid feature which is great for most things but if you need to tilt a piece slightly you have to chnage the mode and if you forget to put it back your movements become very precise.

Admiral, I like the MOC. Are you determined to build all of your ships with an identical color scheme? Variety is always welcome. You seem to love building powerful ships. I encourage you to expand your talent and build a few ships with an artistic license; ships that exist for the sake of looking good, eh? Or powerful ships that look a little extravagant, at least.

Cheers~

A challenge eh? well once im done the design of the andromeda and st lawrence i have some artistic ships in mind something no one here has thought of

Ah, very good! I am anxious to see what original ideas a man who primarily builds larger scaled ships has to offer. When do you expect to finish your ships, Admiral?

Well due to lack of funds all thats gonna be pumped out is designs at the moment but i hope to eventually finish the starwind at least.

Aye. Are your designs close to completion, then?

Well the andromeda was put on hold when i started the st lawrence and the Decimator is about 10% complete and i am working on an idea for a completely brick built hulled ship its just in the planning stages, There is an idea for a ship that i have that is kind of more a fictional ship rather than based on anythign from reality and that one is rather odd to say the least can't really say too much other than if the execution is right it will do for the pirates what the bismark did for the germans.
