An Offical Hello and thank you eBay

Recommended Posts

Hello to you all!

After an initial post in the ship challenge topic, I'll make this my offical greetings to everyone here.

As well, I just expanded my pirate lego collection with a Sabre island and Imperial Outpost. What I am planning to do with these two sets, and an Eldorado once I can afford one, is combine them with the ITP and create a cheap semi-custom MOC. The ITP is, in my mind, an Imperial supply post, and I feel it needs more protection, espically since I have no Imperial fleet to speak of!

BTW Phes, for those other MOC shots, and this one sans Eldorado, I am hoping to get a digital camera in September once the computer labs open rentals at school. Till then, I'll do my best to describe what I've got, if anyone has any questions about it.

Well Mr.Phes, to answer your question, I have the Blackseas Baracuda and the Imperial Trading Post. I don't think I need to post set numbers with those two.

I recently ordered 6263 Imperial Outpost and 6265 Sabre Island. I've been trying to get a Caribbean Clipper, but to no avail. :( My Imperials really need a ship of their own

We have a thread for listing pirate sets and Mr.Phes put the link there. Sadly I have no pirate sets at current for my were all old in a yard sale when I entered my dark age. At the time I was pleased to be getting the money to buy the things I needed for my very life, but now I look back and feel sadness at what I have let go of.

Do you have them built and on display? Or are they in pieces in a box somewhere?

You're lucky! I have NO pirate sets yet. I found plenty of figs cheap on bricklink and will probably buy them as well as a few sets I found as well. I just need to see how much gold I have in me treasure chest! ;-)

It is a pitty that you do not possess a digital camera for it would be of interest to see what you wish to produce. I also do not have a digital camera or much pirate Lego but I am in hope that one day this will all change, but first I need to come into some decent money before I can affort such things.

In answer to Phes, I have them on display in my Jack Daniels room, but only my pirate collection. They are the only Lego sets I have worth displaying!

It is a real shame that Lego gave up on the pirates line, espically when considering how popular pirates have become recently. The great thing about being a university student is that I have tons of money(yeah right) that won't need to be payed back until I get a real job. Hooray for student loans everyone!

Once I get access to a digital camera, pictures will indeed ensue, and hopefully by then I'll have plundered enough(stupid job) and secured enough credit to get an Eldorado(largely in part thanks to Phes' pic review) and have my imperial trade complex built. It won't be much of a MOC, but its better than nothing!

Your Jack Daniels room? What's been happening in there for it to get that name? :-D

It is a damn shame that The LEGO Company has failed to acknowledge the recent surge of Pirate popularity. I noticed it emerging in 2002 and Emailed that year them to ask what they intended to do about it. All I got was some run-around line about "You never know which themes may return".

But perhaps they've made attempts like the 2004 4+ Pirate theme which appears to have went nowhere giving there haven't been any new set 4+ sets since. It appears they've moved onto these Duplo pirates and I'm not sure what logic they're using here. Maybe they're trying to cater to the niche market of pirate toys for preschoolers. Buy why would they do this when plenty of older children enjoy pirates and there's already an existing SYSTEM Pirate LEGO fan base which I'm endeavouring to unite through this forum?

Yes unite the SYSTEM Pirate LEGO enthusiasts of the world and then with out combined powers we can show The LEGO Company SYSTEM Pirates are still alive and well!

And we might as well get the classic castle people involved, as I don't think they are too happy about the KK stuff comming out.

"Legoers of the world unite" eh? Sorta nice ring to it. :-$

The,um, Jack Daniels room is so named because of a massive 12 foot by 4 foot Jack Daniels rodeo banner. That and I enjoy some JD every once and again.

Not very piratey, but the only way I can handle rum is in eggnog *sweet*, so its whiskey for me

"Legoers of the world unite" - well not exactly. I have some subtle methods, but part of the scheme involve demonstrating a large and active following towards SYSTEM Pirate LEGO.

I've noticed the Pirates theme doesn't seem to have the same status as Classic Castle, but I don't think its anything to do with the theme itself. I think Classic Castle has gained extra popularity because there has been a castle theme (I.e. Knights Kingdom) almost every year since when ever Classic Castle stopped existing.

So this has kept Castle fresh in everyone's mind, whearas pirates have been on hiatus (except for the hideous 4+ Pirate theme which didn't do the SYSTEM Pirate theme any justice). So the effect of this hiatus has caused many to forget how wonderful the theme was and provided less exposure for the younger LEGO enthuiasts.

However, during my time at Eurobricks and working on the Pirate threads I've noticed this activities has caused others to realise or remember how wonderful the Pirate theme was. What we're doing here seems to be causing the fanbase to continually grow. Which is good! But we must keep pushing it.

Well Phes, count me in. I may be a poor university student from Lethbridge Alberta, but whatever I can do to get SYSTEM pirates back on the shelves, I will.

I'm in a similiar situation to you so the first thing I'm going to do until such a time when I've got a full time job and a decent income is to build the biggest and best online SYSTEM Pirate LEGO community that has ever existed! Then through this community I shall look into ways of demonstrating to The LEGO Company that SYSTEM Pirate LEGO is definitely a market worth considering.

But we have a long way to go, so for now if you want to help (and you don't have a digital camera to share your MOCs) then you can participate in the Pirate Forum as much as possible - its free and all it takes is some of your time. There's no shortage of Pirate threads here, so explore them and see if you can find something that really interests you. If you're looking for even more Pirate LEGO encentricities then we have The Pirate Ranking System which unlocks hidden areas of the Pirate Forum.

What has happened to this user as he posted a few times and said he will do whatever it takes to get pirates back then disappears from Eurobricks. Is he ever coming back or was he just having dreams of granduer when he wrote such a thing?

Actually, I had two term papers and two finals this past week, sorry, but real life got in the way >:-(

I'm here, but not really sure what it is I can actually do. Does TLG read these message boards, looking for what their customers want? If so, I'll do my best to post more, time permitting.

Blast that real life! I have a real life coming up very soon so I'll probably become quieter for a while.

The LEGO Company has a representative that does check Eurobricks, but how frequentally I don't know. In the future I plan to draw The LEGO Company's attention towards the Pirate forum but in the mean time I'm focusing on building and improving the forum. When the forum reaches a certain size I intend to contact The LEGO Company and ask for the permission to register the domain www.pirate-lego.com. Hopefully this will bring the forum to their attention because they'll want to see what's going on here, assuming they even care about that request.

But, before this can happen I want a vibrant and prospering forum filled with Pirate LEGO fanatics so what you can do in the mean time is join in upon the discussions. If you have the resources you can share MOCs and we'll provide feedback and discuss them. There is no shortage of threads you can respond in!

I must apologiz for the abruptness of my meaning for I was not suggesting to say that you had adandoned us. I was actually in fact trying to be funny except I think my meaning did not come across as intended. I welcome you to Eurobricks and the pirate forum my friend and hope to see you post more oftenly when your studies have passed.

Ironhook,

Don't worry about it. Typing doesn't convey meaning very well, and on my part, I've been stressed lately. All I need is a good, large lego set to build, but alas, can't find any good ones on the shelves. :)

Thats pretty interesting that TLG actually has someone who looks at these boards, most companies could care less as long as their product gets sold. Congrats TLG for doing something right, reading what your fan base is saying. Now bring back system Pirates! *sweet*
