Heavy Highway Hauler - Truck with trailer and excavator

Recommended Posts

Here's a custom semi-truck with lowboy trailer, a heavy construction equipment transporter, inspired by classic Model Team sets 5580, 5590, and 5591, and built in the style of Highway Pickup, Lego Creator set 7347. The truck has functional steering (the spare tire is actually the steering wheel, similar to Model Team 5580) and opening doors. The trailer detaches and has ramps, just like the real thing, and also has extenders on each side to widen the trailer for wider loads. I actually had the idea to build this for last year's Triple Build Contest. But I didn't have the time, nor the bricks, to get it done. I probably ended up with over 500 pieces each anyway, so I probably wouldn't have qualified. Either way, no big deal. It was a fun build and I'm happy with the result. Hope you enjoy. Also, I'm not sure how much interest there would be, but this is my 4th Cuusoo project: lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62214

Here's my flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/drdesignz/?details=1

Does anybody know how to select different sizes, like you could previously? I spent forever trying to figure out how to find the 640 pixels wide version of my pictures, to be able to link them here like I've always done before. I had to figure out another method instead, since I couldn't figure out how to do it with Ipernity either and MOC Pages only allows nine images (plus the quality is degraded considerably). I don't know what's been happening with flickr, but it's turning into garbage. I hate it so much. Also, it looks like they're forcing me to log in with a Yahoo account, which I don't have, instead of Google. I don't know if I'm going to keep posting there. The only reason I've stuck around since the changes nearly a year ago is because of all the AFOLs there. The community is huge. I used to spend at least a little bit of time every day there. Now it might be once a month, if that. It sucks.

Nice mocs!

About the Flickr sizes: to get another size, click on the three dots on the right sidebar, just under the little slider that shows other pictures of your stream. It's super annoying, because then you need to choose "Download/all sizes" and then "view all sizes"... A lot of extra clicks compared to the past :hmpf_bad:

Now that is what I call studless! What a beautiful build. This is like a one MOC manifesto for why model team should come back. Just lovely.

:classic:

These are absolutely beautiful! The way you used a limited color palette and big blocks of solid colors is really striking.

Pure awesomeness !!!! Such a nice design on that excavator, i thought it was a die cast model, not a Lego one !

Oh, well that's why I couldn't figure it out. I noticed the three dots. But nothing happens when I click there. The design is broken. At least, on my computer it is. The scroll bar doesn't work most of the time and there are other icons that don't seem to do anything. Thanks for letting me know though.

Brilliant MOC. I love the slickness of the design. Absolutely impractical low clearance, but that just adds to the wow-factor.

Great MOC, Size and style is perfect! Not to big and not to small that you don't miss the features of the real thing. You are missing a bush on the back left of the trailer wheels in the photos.

Ha! Yeah, I am. I didn't notice until after I had taken pictures and was looking through them. Don't know how I managed that...

I just found this topic after I've found your redesign of the big rig. Same as the big rig, simple and smooth, cool truck.
Like the color too.
