Chinese Custom/Clone Brand Stormtroopers

Recommended Posts

I can't yet decide whether I like these Chinese custom figures but these are cool, and it kind of gives you an idea how force ghosts could look.

Title clarification from original title of 'Custom stormtroopers'; this is not an FOL's customized minifig.

I guess they look OK.

I personally would never buy them; clear plastic is much weaker than normal ABS. Also, your purchase would support the cloners. Do we really want more fakes in the market?

I think fakes will always be popular especially the superheroes as they create characters that Lego just don't get round to designing (or not wanting to). With rebels and episode VII on the horizon there are some characters we just aren't gonna see and if someone happens to print a really good custom of say Dr Evezan or Beru Lars then I would be tempted to buy them. TLG must know that some people collect minifigures as they would action figures so there's call for any character to be made into lego.

Well, I'd never buy the clone stuff either, but I heartily agree that force ghosts would be awesome done that way!

As this is discussion of what's probably a clone brand minifig, I'll move it to Community...

...done.

I don't consider these to be clones or customs, at least not from any entity that wishes to have their name associated with them. They are mass produced in a factory and don't have any legal rights to produce Star Wars minifigs.

As for the seller, don't forget to check the negative and neutral feedback.

Great idea. The transparent fig is as interesting as the chrome stormtrooper. But the bootlegs star wars fig, none of them are as good as the real lego. The printings and shapes are all bad.

I only prefer LEGO licensed minifigs, not Chinese knock-offs because I know LEGO is reliable.

Also, most of the fakes are Superheroes; the only SW ones I've seen are cheap versions of official minifigs: Yoda, Captain Rex, JEK-14, ETC...

There are some fakes of Storm or clone troopers, but again, the quality sucks.

SH is in danger but SW is safe, at least for the time being!

I don't see any Lego line being in danger from bootleg figures.

Lego fans will buy Lego and use bootlegs to fill gaps while non Lego fans wouldn't have bought Lego SH sets but may pick up the odd figure for $1 or so each.

The East has been prevalent in the production of counterfeit goods for years and are normally aimed at people who can't afford the real thing.... These are no different except the internet means it's not just on market stalls in Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur anymore but available the world over.

If Sheng Yuan get their act together and make SW figures to the same quality as their SH ones and even make ranges of figs not produced by Lego then I'm sure many people will sit up and take notice. That's not beyond the realms of possibility taking into account their rate of production.

Yeah. I actually just ordered that decool Future Foundation Fantastic 4 + Spiderman set, and it's my first custom minifig purchase. The last two years I have tried to be strict purist, but truth be told, LEGO is just not doing a lot of my favourite SuperHeroes and villains justice. Not that they're bad, they're just not what I want. Yes, Falcon and Green Goblin are cool, but I really want FF.

As for Star Wars, I don't think clone brands can even come close to the quality of LEGO. Nonetheless, like you said, if it's some obscure character who only appears for a few minutes or something, clone brands have you covered. It's like, even if LEGO makes FF minifigs (which I would be very happy if they did), I'm still getting the Future Foundation ones because I know LEGO will most likely never make them, and I really want them for a relatively inexpensive price.

Thank you. Couldn't have said it better. ;)
