Recommended Posts

I'm not sure weither this is the right forum, but I actually got an interview on TV.

The video is in Dutch but it gives you a nice view on the start of the Greenville layout and it also shows a bit more of my ship the ''Halve Maen''.

There are also quite a few MOCs in there I have not posted yet.

I will keep you updated on the Greenville layout and everything, but if you have any questions you can ask them here.

i hope you enjoy the interview!

Wow, that's a fantastic collection of builds on display there! Also, it's nice to see appreciation for your work from a different corner of society, the interview puts "The AFOL" in a positive light. Thanks for sharing!

Nice, wish it was longer though, I always like seeing stuff like this! :sweet:

Btw translated the clip in English, text format only after the spoiler.

Lego, yeah, there's also Lego for adults, yeah. They are partly toys, cause you play, and I do have fun with them.

But in essence it's really model building to me. Most of it is sqaureshaped and to build roundshapes or in other shapes than that are present,

is a challenge in itself.

- The pre-eliminary rounds of the National Championships of Lego building have started,

which are officially untill the age of 13. Do you feel yourself a little excluded?

No, not at all. If I have to compete against children, it wouldn't be fair.

As a kid I've won a building competition, I can remember the feeling very well; it's fantastic!

But, we do compete in building challenges online and also at events. This is one I've made,

the idea was; that you made something, where your sigfig does, what you love to do the most.

That's Captain Greenhair.

- Captain Greenhair, is your alter ego?

Yeah, you're right. He's building a ship. It's a little bit big, I couldn't build it any smaller, but I did won first place with it.

- I believe we can assume Sailing Ships are your speciality?

Yes, that's what I've studied the most; read most books about, seen a lot of footage about it. Also visited a lot of Sailing Ships all around the world.

At one point as I'm laying in bed, I can walk the decks, know what's happening inside, it comes alive.

Because it's a fairly small ships, in real life it's around 25 meters I believe, you have to design really small rowboats as well. Cause the standard boats don't fit.

- But you've been a Sailing Ships pioneer as well right, how come?

Yeah, you're right, If you'll have a look; the walls are angled and at the back also inwards. Cause of working with hinges and on the inside, you can give it that shape.

With that technique, I was the first, and is still used a lot.

- So your technique is world wide copied by all?

Yeah, it's called; 'The Captain Greenhair Ship Technique'.

- Cool, you really have your own technique.

Yeah, I've also made an entire tutorial about it. Because we share a lot on internet,

that's also what I like to do, helping people out, yeah.

- With your own technique, can you say it one more time?

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it!

The interview maker was at our house for about 2 hours and I told much more.

Too bad there's only 3 minutes left.

That's OK, thank you for trying!

Very cool interview, great display you have there in your Lego room. I find always surprising to relate a human face to a sigfig once the person behind is revealed. :sweet::laugh:

By the way the technique on the ship is eye appealing and it seemed the interviewer was also nice asking the correct questions and showing interest.

Greetings Captain. :)
