Ch. 1
Tuma got up from his throne and peaked outside the window, there he saw hundreds of Skrall finishing up their daily tasks. Most of them were returning to their campsites while others were hanging out. Tuma frowned, he knew that there was no such thing as “Break Time” but he had to admit that they have done enough for now.
Tuma left the room to find his daughter, Princess Skralla, one of the best known female Skrall for taking a high role in the society. Lately, she was trying to find a mate to have someone to talk to but was forbidden to leave Roxtus to seek any other Glatorian from other tribes, even the bone hunters.
“I was wondering what you were up to,” replied Tuma. Skralla looked at him darkly and said, “Father, you must allow me to travel some time…”
“Silence, you are my only daughter! I don’t want you to get killed by any other Glatorian or Bone Hunter, let alone that these unknown entities are killing our kind!”
“But father, I really want an adventure. Just for once let me explore our kingdom and meet some other Skrall. I even want to ride on a Spitik,” said Skralla.
“I had enough of your complains, it is time for you to learn your place!” growled Tuma. He left the room and resumed his throne, waiting for his Skrall who was sent to capture Malum.
Skralla couldn’t believe her eyes, her father, once a loyal, loving Skrall now nothing but a fierce ruler that only cared for a complete rule of Bara Magna. Tears begin to flow from her eyes as she ran to her bed and wept, silently.
------
At the camp, several Skrall were talking about their dirty jobs that they were assigned.
“I almost failed a mission,” replied one.
“I got to capture a few agori,” said another.
“I managed to defeat a Glatorian named Gresh at Vulcanus. But another Glatorian stopped me from executing him,” complained another Skrall.
“But I cannot wait till we take over Bara Magna. I can’t stand any weaklings here!” said a female Skrall.
“I just lost the game!” wailed another.
That last sentence drove some of the Skrall crazy. Playing “The Game” was not their ways of talking, especially during the evening hours. If Atakus or Tuma heard that, he would be executed to the Spitik.
The group of Skrall left to their camps, seeing that there was nothing else to say.
As he returned to his post, Atakus was not in a good mood lately; he had traveled far from Roxtus to escort a Skrall to Vulcanus lately, and was almost captured by the Bone Hunters. It wasn’t until another group of Skrall who managed to capture Malum that saved him.
Later, Atakus visited one of his friends, Sukata by the entrance to Tuma’s throne. Sukata was just another innocent Rock Agori but unlike several others, he was not imprisoned in cages. Sukata managed to gain friendship with Atakus in order to stay out of the cages.
“Anything today, Atakus?” he asked.
“I was almost captured by the Bone Hunters. Luckily another group who captured Malum saved me,” replied Atakus.
“Hey it could have been worse, right?” said Sukata.
“I’m heading to my camp so I can rest, see you later. I’ll explain everything in the morning,” answered Atakus.
------
The weather became stormy that evening as Princess Skralla was still crying in her bedroom. All she wanted was an adventure and to visit places she has not seen since the shattering.
Over 100,000 she remembered the terrible disaster that struck her home. A planet splintered into three pieces due to a mysterious substance that spread quite a bit on the planet but most of them disappeared. She heard rumors of a giant robot that would one day house that mysterious substance, along with several species inside. She was then raised by Tuma for over thousands of years and was given the role of princess who would one day take over the Skrall once she got a mate.
But things changed, ever since the Skrall were attacked by unknown entities, Tuma was concerned to keep her safe. Already most of his kinds were killed during their attacks, leaving Tuma the last of their species. As timed passed, Tuma grew more concerned and planned to conquer Bara Magna to end this threat. Skralla never liked the idea of conquering Bara Magna, she knew how it would dishonor the other Glatorian and the Agori, especially her ancestors.
After all of those thoughts and flashbacks, she made a decision. Skralla ran into the corridors, snuck in the throne room to make sure Tuma was asleep. She ran across the hallways to a shrine. She light up a torch and said a quick message to her ancestors.
Please keep my father safe. Help him to stop conquering Bara Magna while I go and find my true love, she muttered. Skralla bowed to the shrine and ran off.
She placed the torch on a niche and ran to the armory room. She saw a collection of armor, weapons and thornax launchers that her father collected. She took a Scythe, a Roxtus shield and a shoulder mounted thronax launcher and took a mysterious gun that she never knew or saw. Skralla even took off her own crown and replaced it with an ordinary Skrall helmet. She also wore a necklace but instead of discarding it, she kept in on only for her own protection…
Skralla took a last look of her father before she left. Deciding to make it tragic, she placed her crown by his feet. She ran outside to a pen nearby to find a Spitik with a chariot. Skralla took off the chariot and leaped on the Spitik. The creature, though always hungry was a special kind that was tamed by Tuma after years of training. The Spitik neighed and Skralla rode it out of her realm, heading to the unknown…
Father, forgive me, she thought as she rode towards the exit…leaving Roxtus, perhaps forever…
