Creatures to add to LEGO Heroes - Greece

Recommended Posts

I wanted to add these to the original LEGO Heroes - Greece topic, but that topic is already jammed pack with pictures and such, and I think it would be inconsiderate to jam more into it. Therefore, I started a new topic.

Minotaur: The head is entirely made of Sculpey, with BrickForge bull horns. The decals are mine, everything else is LEGO.

Perspective view of the headpiece:

Satyr: The horns are Sculpey on a Harry Potter headpiece. The decals are mine, everything else is LEGO.

The next series of minifigs I will make for this theme will be for LEGO Heroes - China, which I will post within the next week, after I finish my midterm.

Enjoy!

Wow these are great! The Satyr is my favorite. The Minotaur is alright but the head looks too detailed to be Lego. :sceptic:

*Gasp* Your Sculpey pieces are amazing Tin! Do you plan on making more creatures?

Also, did you bake them with the LEGO elements attached, or connect them afterward?

i make the holes for the horns by sticking the horns into the head. then i pull them out and replace them with little balls of aluminum foil, so the holes don't collapse during the baking process. after baking, just pull out the aluminum foil and replace it with horns. voila!

Really amazing, tin7

I wish there really was a set with that Minotaur: I would by it in seconds... Thinking of it, maybe it's better this way, for my money

I'm not with you on this; it's almost on the same detail level of the Wookie and Ewok casts by LEGO, imo

A nice minotaur head. However the great details seem to drag away from the lego feel. The Satyr has some very clever legs and nice horns .

Oh, thanks.

What about the Satyr horns though?

Also, what did you do to make the Sculpey parts shiny?

thanks man, i wish i could mass produce these and make one to sell to everybody. however, the head is hand painted and hand sculpted, it will take forever, which will make it ultra expensive. i think what he meant by detail is not on the sculpted head, but in fact on the paint job... too much color for a lego head. the ewoks and wookies are all plain brown.

Oh, thanks.

i basically made the satyr horns on the harry potter headpiece. then i boiled it (since boiling can harden sculpey as well)... cuz if i bake it, the plastic headpiece will melt. i painted the horns with a 'pearl white' paint to give it a glossy/shiny look

Oh, wow! You really now how to sculpture small pieces! Most of the attempts to make one's own molds I've seen here are pretty bad, I have to say, but you've actually managed to make pieces that look great. Granted, especially the minotaur head isn't very LEGO-like, but otherwise it does the job perfectly.

Please do more!

My only complaint about the minotaur is that the nose ring looks really big. But everything else is perfect, I love that paint job!
